Chapter 7: Proving Them Wrong
Eliza and Erica had taken the dogs to Starbucks, and Eliza had ordered a mint latte with foam and caramel drizzle on top, a bag of cookies, and a bacon, eggs, cheese, and croissant breakfast sandwich. While Erica ordered a blueberry milkshake, a bag of brownies, and a ham, eggs, and cheese breakfast sandwich. After they ate breakfast, it was 8:50, so they went to get a manicure, and a pedicure including the dogs. Erica got her nails done as French nail tips that had red flame designs, and her toes matching. Eliza had gotten fake nails in a pattern of wintery blue and white with silver snowflakes along with matching toes. The dogs got their claws trimmed, and polished,; Snow got hers painted a sparkly silver while Crystal got hers a sparkly blue. When it reached 10:00, the girls had already taken the dogs back, and had no later arrived at River Oaks high school, where the fundraiser was being held. Right now there were already a lot of people there for the school’s basketball game. They stepped out the limo, and were soon engulfed by fans.
“Ms.Queen, why are you here?” Asked a reporter.
“Are you going to watch the game?” Asked a fan. She simply just smiled and waved as they walked inside.
“Erica, I’m going to go change.” She said.
“Why?” Asked Erica.
“What better way to help a fundraiser for a ballet studio than dressing as a ballerina?” She asked while having a glimmering smile.
“Good point, okay let’s go find a bathroom.” Said Erica, then the two soon found a lady’s bathroom, and went inside. Eliza changed into a cobalt blue leotard, a black, sparkly tutu, and clear snowflake patterned leggings with her hair in a wavy ponytail. Eliza came out, and did a little twirl to show off the outfit.
“All done, what do you think?” She asked.
“Absolutely beautiful, darling, but you’re forgetting something.” Said Erica.
“What?” She asked, then saw Erica holding up a pair of Enchanted blue ballet slippers.
“They’re beautiful, Erica! I love them!” She gasped, while taking them and putting them on.
“Now you’re ready, come on.” Said Erica before they left the bathroom and went to the gymnasium. When they got there the first half of the game had ended leaving the players to have a break, so Eliza went up to the microphone and tapped it while hearing people gasp and murmur while taking pictures.
“Hi, as many of you may or may not know, I’m Victoria Queen. I’ve been notified by my manager that a certain person from this school has requested my presence in helping them fulfill their dream since this place can’t help with that.” Said Eliza. Then, the principal came up beside her.
“Oh, so you’re here to donate to the basketball team? Wonderful!” He said before giving her time to answer.
“No, but to a girl, who I hope is here today. Jewelz Smith, please come here.” She said then, a girl about fifteen or sixteen looking with dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and mixed skin came down. She was wearing a purple tank top that had silver ballet slippers, music notes, and swirls designed the front, a midnight blue skater skirt, black high tops, and her hair was in a ponytail.
“I got your letter and here I am. I’m willing to help you make your own dreams come true. Erica, can you write out a check of four million dollars to Jewelz, with a z please?” She asked, and Erica did, then ripped out the check from Eliza’s sky blue bedazzled checkbook, and gave it to Eliza. Before she could give it to Jewelz, a boy from the basketball team said something.
“Why would you waste four million dollars on her?” He asked.
“Because she’s trying to make her dreams come true of being a ballerina, and as you can see I’m also a ballerina.” She said before handing Jewelz the check.
“I hope this will help you achieve your dream, and when your ballet studio is all built, you can call me, and I could help you decorate.” She said with a heart warming smile.
“Wow, you’re really here,” Said Jewelz, still recovering from the fact that her teen idol is standing right in front of her. This made Eliza giggle.
“Thank you so much, Ms. Queen, I really appreciate it.” Said Jewelz.
“Ballet isn’t even a real sport!” Yelled some random guy in the crowd.
“Ms. Queen, you don’t have to do this.” Said the principal.
“First of all, I want to, and if I didn’t want to I wouldn’t even be here. Second of all, ballet is more than a sport, it’s art, it’s passion. And to be honest, dribbling a rubber ball and making a shot doesn’t seem like a sport, a seven year old could do that with their eyes closed.” Said Eliza, making the crowd erupt with “oohhs”.
“Now, I’m going to do what I do best. Everyone here today, you can donate money on me and Jewelz’s new website called: Queens of Jewelz, during this performance and the others. Now my first song is called Keep on Dancing. And it would be such a pleasure if Jewelz danced with me.” Said Eliza.
“But I don’t have an outfit.” Said Jewelz.
“That’s easy, what are your favorite colors?” Asked Eliza.
“That’s easy, purple, silver, and blue.” Said Jewelz then, Eliza made an exact copy of her outfit, but with the colors Jewelz requested, on her. Everybody thought it was just special effects when it wasn’t. Gasping, Jewelz spun around allowing the light to reflect off of the sparkles.
" I love it!” She exclaimed.
“Good, cause it’s yours, now let’s begin. Play the music!!” Yelled Eliza, after snapping her fingers as the lights dimmed, and the music played as she began to sing and dance with Jewelz. *Two Hours and thirty minutes Later*
When Eliza’s big performance was over they raised up to $600,000.00 on the website.
“Victoria, we have to go soon.” said Erica.
“Okay” said Eliza, then turned to Jewelz.
“When are you free?” she asked as Snow and Crystal come over and start licking her face. (A/N Just to be clear one of their co-workers from the studio brought them there.)
“Saturday, noon.” said Jeweelz.
“I’m free then, right Erica?” asked Eliza.
“Yup.” said Erica after looking in her black and white planner.
“Okay, can I have your address, so we can talk about your studio?” asked Eliza.
“Sure, here you go,” said Jewelz, who was now wearing her normal outfit and holding a blue and silver box that held her new ballet outfit inside, giving a piece of paper to Eliza that had her address on it.
" Hey, do you want to shoot a hoop before I leave?” asked Eliza.
“Hell yeah!” exclaimed Jewelz.
“Erica, get this o camera!” exclaimed Eliza.
“Okay,” said Erica, while grabbing a video camera and started recording.
" Hey, Basketball team! This is how it’s done with your eyes closed!” yelled Eliza since the game was far from over and the teams were about to leave the court. Both girls were back-to-back in the middle of the court facing the baskets on their sides with basketballs in hand and with their eyes closed as the guys watched them.
“3, 2, 1! Shoot!” yelled Eliza, then at the same time both girls had shot their balls towards their own baskets and.... made it! Hearing both balls go in the hoop they cheered as well the semi crowd that had remained there, who had their phones out.
“Whoo! That’s my girl!” exclaimed Erica.
“Yup, nice shot Ms. Queen,” said Jewelz.
“Thanks, you too. But call me Tori, we’re friends now,” said Eliza.
“We are?” gasped Jewelz.
“Yeah, but don’t go using that to your advantage without me knowing, got it?” said Eliza, who doesn’t really consider people friends unless she knows that they can be trusted.
“Okay. I have to go find my parents now, but I’ll see you on Saturday.” said Jewelz as they hugged.
“Bye,” said Eliza as they released, and Jewelz left. After Eliza changed back into her previous outfit, she and Erica left with the dogs, and had got into the limo. As they drove their way to the photo-shoot, Eliza said something.
“Not only was that really fun, but also really made me happy to know that Jewelz’s ballet studio will actually happen.” she said while playing with Snow.
“I’m glad, sweetie, and not only that, but you showed those basketball players a thing or two about ballet.” said Erica, while smirking, which made Eliza giggle and nod.
