The Otherside: Jay McClayn: This Is High School (Book 1)

Chapter 6

I woke up in bed; I guess Harrison put me in bed. I looked at the clock, school had let out. Alex would be here soon. I got dressed quickly headed down stairs. I saw Harrison answering the door as I was walking down the stairs.

“Hey Alex” I said as I walked towards the door. Harrison opened the door more so he could walk in.

“How are you feeling Jay?” He asked concerned as he walked in Harrison shut the door behind him and walked towards the entryway of the dining room to the left of the door to keep an eye on the situation.

“I’m doing a little better.” I said softly as Alex hugged me.

“Will I see you in school tomorrow?” I could see Harrison shaking his head.

“Let me decided that tomorrow.” I pulled away and then he reached into his backpack and pulled out the school work I missed.

“Here is your work, and try coming tomorrow; school isn’t the same without you.”

I took the papers from him and then he moved a few strands of hair out of my face and behind my ear and kissed my forehead. I blushed a little, “Y-you better go!” I said nervously “I don’t want you to catch what I got.” I reopened the door and he walked out.

“Get better.” he said.

“Will do.” I replied giving a two finger salute as I shut the door.

Not too long after I shut the door there was a big bang in the guest bedroom. I quickly began to run up the stairs, but Harrison caught my arm halfway up the stairs. I quickly turned around with worry in my eyes and confused as to why he stopped me.

“Calm down Jay, it is just Jason. He is back from the Otherside. He was pulling together an army for the upcoming battle.” He said calmly like it was all nothing.

“UPCOMING BATTLE!” I yelled “What do you mean upcoming?!?” I was so confused. “I do not even know about the war and what the hell even happened!”

Harrison slapped me across the face. “Watch your tongue and calm down. You have time to remember.” Jason quickly punched Harrison in the face, I’m guessing he saw what Harrison did and was mad. Which was weird I didn’t even hear him come out of the guest room.

“You should know not to lay a hand on royalty!” Yelled and Harrison backed down.

“Sorry, I lost my temper. She is just such a pain.” He said as if I wasn’t there.

“Excuse me! ” I said angered and then I stormed off to my room.

“See what you did!!!” I heard Jason say before I slammed my door and locked it.

I know they were talking about me, part of me didn’t care. I went to my bed. I buried my face in my pillow. I heard crashing down stairs. I just assumed they were fighting and to be honest if they killed each other, one less thing I had to worry about. This was all over my head; I was so confused and hurt and didn’t know what to really do. I just let them fight. I overheard a few words but they were all curse words. It settled down thirty minutes later.

An hour after I had stormed off into my room, I heard a knock on my door.

“Go away.” I lifted my head out of my pillow to yell. I was tired of this drama.

“Jamie, its Jason. Please open up.” He begged. I debated for a second, then I slowly got up and walked towards the door. I unlocked it slowly and opened the door a crack.

“What do you want? Is it one of Harrison’s orders to check on me?” Jason pushed the door open the rest of the way, he had a bowl of what appeared to be chicken noodle soup, he put the bowl of soup on the nightstand and walked back to me.

“I’m sorry, his problem isn’t you. It is me being near you again and the fact that I’m making things more complicated. You weren’t supposed to start remembering things this early. He is also afraid of what we were.” He looked down and then back up. “I am here for you as long as you need me. If we have a relationship, that is up to you.”

I put my hand on his cheek. “I just need some time to figure out what is going on before I do anything. I just need to remember before anything happens.” He slowly put his arms around me and pulled me into an embrace.

“Whatever happens, I will always be here for you.” He kissed my cheek and backed away. “Don’t worry about Harrison; he should be nicer since we had our talk.” He said as he stroked my cheek.

“What did you do?” I asked a little concerned, remembering the noises; I guess it showed.

“Nothing big, don’t worry, just” there was a pause. ” showed him a few things.” I sighed, I didn’t really like that pause; I’m pretty sure that was for making up some excuse because he beat him up. Jason kissed my forehead. “You should eat and get some sleep, you have school tomorrow.” He began to walk away and I didn’t realize my hand grabbed his. He turned around confused as to why I grabbed hand and for some reason I was too. I don’t know why I did it. Jason quickly pulled me into his arms and stared into my eyes like he was trying to read me. My heart began to race and I could tell I was blushing. I quickly made up some excuse.

“Uh.... thanks... for the soup...I-I...” He kissed me softly.

“Get some sleep.” He whispered in my ear. He then picked me up and laid me in bed. I was rendered speechless. I just watched him walk out the door, and shut it behind himself. I sat there for a little bit, confused as to what just happened. Once I broke free from trying to figure out and realized I will probably figure it out later, I ate my soup and then went to bed.
