The Otherside: Jay McClayn: A Quest For Love (Book 4)

Chapter 16

A few minutes after she left, I left my room as well and headed outside to check on the Jason. Once I stepped in the garden where they were practicing, they both quickly noticed and turned towards me.

“I’m guessing Loveless found you sleeping?” Harrison said jokingly noticing the wet hair.

“No, I took a shower.” I said sarcastically. “We need to fix her before she stabs someone with her anger.”

Jason sighed at my words. “You aren’t staying are you?” he said upset by my words and body language.

“I’m sorry, I am leaving, but not for a long time. We just need to get an ingredient to finish the potion to get Loveless back to normal. Well, her version of normal I guess. I can’t stand her like this anymore, and she does not want to be like this either so we need to get this done and over with.”

Jason walked over to me and pulled me into his arms. My head rested in his shoulder. “Why do I feel like we are always parting and reuniting? Can I please go with you?” I felt bad by his words. I moved my head up to talk to him.

“I’m sorry, my love. It will only be a couple days and you need to work on getting stronger so the next time I leave you can go with me. This is not a difficult task, just train hard and I will let you go with me to the meeting with Samantha and Vincent, okay?”

He sighed. “I guess. When are you leaving?” He pulled away.

“I am not leaving until tomorrow so we can talk more tonight if you like. And if it makes you feel any better, Loveless is the most dangerous thing on this trip.” I said half-jokingly with a slight chuckle; trying to cheer him up. He kissed my cheek.

“I am still going to miss you and worry.” Harrison cleared his throat as Loveless came walking our way.

“We aren’t leaving until tomorrow, Jay. Save your goodbyes until then. Right now it is time to get everything we can from the market, remember?” I sighed at Loveless’ interruption. Jason pulled me into a big kiss. “You two are going to make me puke.” She said after he did that.

“Good.” he replied to Loveless. “See you tonight, my love.” he said to me as he pulled away again.

“See you then.” I said as I walked away and to Loveless.

“Let’s go.”

Loveless was like a child all through out the marketplace. “OOOO, this is cool! No don’t get that! This is better! Can you float me some cash? I am your cousin after all.” After a whole day of her, I did not know how I was going to handle her on the trip. But I survived the shopping spree... somehow. We got everything, but the Loveless Ice as predicted.

After we got back, we separated. I packed the other ingredients with my stuff. Normally if it was only one person going it would be easy to just to portal there and back, but with more than one, it takes to much energy especially over that much distance. I had forgotten to ask Loveless if she could portal us to a point to cut out some travel. I decided to leave that question for tomorrow since I was already packing. Loveless and I ate dinner in the marketplace, since she would not quit pulling me around it took us long to get everything.

Right when I finished packing there was a knock on my door. I magically opened the door and turned towards it. It was Jason.

“Come in.” I said and he came in and shut the door behind him.

“Is it safe?” he asked.

“Hiding from Loveless?” I asked a question to his.

“I’m not hiding…” he paused. “Just avoiding her.”

I laughed. “Well she is in her own room so you are safe.” a slight grin came across his face. He walked over to me, he grabbed my bag on the bed and put it on the floor and then picked me up and placed me on the bed.

“She better not interrupt this time because I am not sharing.” He then got in bed and began kissing me. We didn’t get further than that really. After all the kissing, we settled down for bed. He was laying on his back, and I was half laying on his chest. “You know, every time you leave this life feels like a nightmare that I can’t wake up from. It isn’t until you are around that it feels real, and I feel that everything will be okay.” He said as we laid there. We were both close to falling asleep.

“When this is all over, it will never feel like a nightmare again.” I responded as I slowly drifted off to sleep.
