Chapter 90
Chapter 90
However, after thinking about it. Alexandra realized that Julian was right in lying. He couldn’t tell Josephine that they had gone to Sheffield to look for Ace, which would reveal that their marriage was fake
“Hmph. Cut it out Josephine curled her lips childishly, feeling that she was a poor old woman who had been deceived by her grandson and granddaughter–in–law.
Caroline realized that her plan hadn’t turned out as she wished. She had expected Josephine to rip into Alexandra.
But Josephine was just miffed about being left alone.
Caroline cleared her throat and sashayed toward them. “Mom, aren’t you here to ask about the post online? Negative news about Alexandra is all over the media. If things go on like this, the Ranford family will soon hit the headlines!”
Before Alexandra managed to say anything. Josephine grabbed her hand and said to Caroline coldly. “When a married woman is messed with, her husband should come to her defense. I won’t meddle in this matter. Julian, your wife has been bullied. Get this matter solved as soon as possible!”
Alexandra was rendered tongue–tied.
She thought to herself, “Grams is so bossy and cute!”
Caroline’s face turned red and then white.
Julian, the husband in question, nodded. “Yes, Grams. It’s my fault.”
Alexandra glanced at Julian who took on a serious face and somehow found him very adorable when he behaved obediently in front of his grandmother.
No one gave a fig about Caroline’s words and she felt like she had been slapped in the face.
Josephine took a look at Alexandra again and found that she had become thinner than when she left the Ranford Mansion a few days ago. Josephine felt even more sorry for her. “You’ve lost a lot of weight!”
“I haven’t! Grams, I’ve been eating a lot!” Alexandra was touched that Josephine cared so much about her.
Josephine shot a glance at Julian and grumbled, “She moved out with you merely a few days ago but look at her. She’s become thinner and sprained her ankle. Have you been looking out for her at all?”
Being criticized again, Julian looked a bit helpless. “Sorry, Grams. I should’ve taken better care of her.”
Alexandra somehow wanted to laugh. Julian was always like a schoolboy when faced with Josephine.
Josephine asked Alexandra, “Have you had dinner?”
Alexandra shook her head. Julian just came back from work. He was about to take me out for dinner when you came.”
Alexandra lied so that Julian wouldn’t be laid into again.
Josephine let out a snort. “He’s a workaholic. If he works overtime until midnight, are you going to wait for him on an empty
stomach?”
Alexandra was at a loss for words.
Josephine seemed very angry with Julian and kept finding fault with him.
At this moment, Ruth smiled and cut in, “Mistress Josephine asked the kitchen to make dinner for you before leaving. I’ll go get it from the car.”
Chapter 90
Josephine had asked the head chef at home to make several dishes that Alexandra would enjoy, including her favorite
braised fish.
Alexandra looked at the food on the table and felt particularly touched.
There were suddenly a few people in this world who cared about her.
Marco and Frank were very concerned about her. Although Josephine hadn’t liked her at first, she treated her very nicely
now.
Julian was nice to her too.
As Alexandra ate, she couldn’t help but think that it would be wonderful if all this were true.
By the time they finished dinner, it was already dark.
Josephine sat on the sofa and chatted with Alexandra for a while. No one talked with Caroline. She fidgeted and hoped time could pass faster.
After all, it was not comfortable to stay at a place where she wasn’t welcome.
“Mom, it’s getting late. We should leave Jule and Alexandra to rest,” Caroline said and feigned a yawn.
Josephine had no intention of rising from the sofa. She turned to Caroline and said, “Yeah, it’s getting late. You and Ruth should go back now.”
Caroline asked, “Mom, aren’t you going back with us?”
Julian and Alexandra also looked at Josephine confusedly.
Josephine answered, I’m staying here tonight.”
Alexandra was shocked.
She freaked out.
Julian’s villa was much smaller than the Ranford Mansion. Moreover, she and Julian had been sleeping in separate rooms for the past few days.
Josephine would inevitably find out about that if she slept over tonight.
Julian kept his countenance and said, “Grams, maybe you should go back. The bed here is hard, far less comfortable than yours back at home.”
Josephine leveled him a hard stare. “What? I’m an old bat to you now, aren’t I? You just said that accompany me, but when I say I’d like to stay, you want me to leave?”
would you
go
back and
Julian said, “Grams, that’s not what I meant…”
Josephine moyed her eyes to Alexandra who was on tenterhooks. “Alexandra sprained her ankle and the internet is full of horrible rumors. I’ll stay with her for a few days.”
Alexandra wanted to say no thanks.
But there was no way she could say that to Josephine
So she turned to look at Julian for help.
Julian gave a look that said there was nothing he could do. Realizing that Josephine was determined to stay, he said resignedly, “Okay, Grams. You can’t blame me if you don’t sleep well.”

Only then did Josephine smile again.
Then, she held Alexandra’s hand and said, “My appetite has been poor again recently. Alexandra can give me massages while I stay here.”
When Alexandra heard that Josephine was not feeling well again, she was quite worried and said, “Grams, are you feeling unwell again? I’ll give you a massage later!”
Caroline soon left Tropical Lagoon Residences with the driver and Ruth.
There were only two bedrooms in the house, one on the first floor, and the other on the second floor. Since climbing stairs. was difficult for Alexandra now, Josephine had to stay in the room on the second floor.
She did not know that the two of them had been sleeping in separate rooms.
After the others left, Alexandra chatted with Josephine on the sofa.
Meanwhile, Julian went upstairs to make the bed.
Josephine couldn’t stand the cold and it was cool at night those days, so Julian prepared a thick blanket for her.
After getting it done, he asked Josephine to go upstairs to rest.
Alexandra needed to go with Josephine to give her a massage. She couldn’t put much weight on her injured ankle so Julian
held her arm beside her.
They stopped before the stairs and exchanged an awkward glance.
Alexandra couldn’t hop upstairs.
Josephine darted Julian a glare. “Can’t you see that Alexandra can’t walk upstairs? Carry her!”
Alexandra blushed and let Julian scoop her up.
After they entered Josephine’s bedroom, Julian left.
Alexandra sat on the edge of the bed and massaged Josephine while thinking about how to avoid sleeping in the same room. as Julian.
Unlike in the Ranford Mansion, there was no sofa in the master bedroom here.
“Grams, can I sleep with you tonight?” Alexandra blinked her big, bright eyes with a pleading look.
Josephine laughed. “The two of you came here so that you can be alone. I’ll get on Julian’s nerves if I hog his wife while I stay
here”
Alexandra said with a blush, “Grams, you won’t. I can massage you for a longer time if I stay and Julian is fine sleeping alone.”
Josephine shook her head and said, “No. I don’t want to ruin your night with him.”
“Grams, you don’t like me anymore!” Alexandra put on a heartbroken face.
It made Josephine laugh. “I like you very much and hope everything between you and Julian goes well. It’s just that I’m used to sleeping alone and am a light sleeper.”
Hearing her words, Alexandra quit begging her.
She felt so upset.
When the massage was almost done, Alexandra dawdled in Josephine’s room, unwilling to leave.
Julian knocked on the door soon.
