The Omnipotent Mrs. Ranford By Darlene Wright

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Soon, the dinner for both families began.

To put it bluntly, this dinner was similar to a betrothal dinner.

During the meal, Margot and Caroline chatted happily.

On the other hand, Alexandra kept eating with her head down.

Franking speaking, the Ranford family was worthily the wealthiest in Highclere City.

This chef here was world-class.

Alexandra felt like she had never eaten such delicious food in her life before!

Josephine could not help sighing in her heart several times when watching Alexandra gobble down the food.

After the meal and a short rest, the two families said goodbye to each other.

Julian sent the Doherty family off. It was windy and cold outside now since it was late at night.

Alexandra’s thin dress made her look forlorn in the icy wind. She couldn’t help but hunch her shoulders.

Feeling some pressure on her shoulder, she turned around with a confused look.

It was Julian, draping the suit jacket in his hand over Alexandra’s shoulders.

Their eyes met squarely. Alexandra blinked the eyes that reflected the moonlight, while Julian looked emotionless and gentle in the moonlight.

He then withdrew his hands and nodded to her, saying nothing.

At this moment, Peter and Margot made their way to the car, and Caroline, who had walked them out, said goodbye to them with two bottles of wine given by Mrs. Josephine in her hand.

Alexandra and Julian stood a little further away from them

Looking at them nearby and recalling the episode during the family dinner, Alexandra was disappointed and helpless.

Pouting with a sad face, she lifted her head and said to Julian, “Have I disgraced you?”

Julian could hardly hold back the laughter at seeing Alexandra’s aggrieved look.

More relaxed, he answered with a smile after thinking about it for a while, “Don’t worry. There will be no salary deduction.”

“Since Julian is in the mood to joke, I didn’t embarrass him, right?”

At the thought of it, Alexandra breathed a sigh of relief and said with conviction, “I will perform better and better. Julian, 1 will not give you shame.”

The firm tone and determined look gave Julian the chills out of the blue.

However, as an experienced businessman, he would not regard Alexandra’s words as flirtation and remain impassive.

He thought Alexandra was worried that Julian would be mad at her due to her poor acting tonight.

But in fact, it was not what Alexandra thought.

After realizing Caroline’s finding things difficult for Julian and hearing Caroline’s sarcastic remarks about her, Alexandra

grew a bit abashed. fearing that she would negatively impact Julian.

Julian then nodded lightly and responded coolly, “Well. I hope you will do better next time.”

The tone of Julian’s voice, though cold and deep, inexplicably reassured Alexandra.

When Alexandra got back to the hotel, it was almost 10 PM.

Alexandra dragged herself back to her room.

Thinking back on what she had experienced in the Ranford Mansion, the people she had met, and how she had behaved, she suddenly felt it far exceeded her ability

Powerful families and great clans were said to be complicated. Alexandra became overwhelmed after merely mingling with Mrs. Josephine and Julian’s stepmother.

And she was a bit remorseful, blaming herself for not performing better than she had expected.

To her relief, Julian did not blame her.

And he didn’t deduct her salary

“Forget it I am too exhausted now, Alexandra muttered in her mind.

Alexandra just took off Julian’s jacket and approached the bathroom for a shower when there was a sharp knock at the door.

The sound was getting louder and louder, almost as if the door would be smashed if Alexandra didn’t open the door.

Alexandra whispered silently, “I don’t owe anyone money, do I?”

Tiptoing to the door, Alexandra leaned to the peephole, only to see a woman wearing a black peaked cap and a black jacket in the corridor.

While knocking on the door, the woman hastily looked around. A strand of hair stuck to her cheek by her left ear, which seemed wet with sweat,

Although the peaked cap covered half of her face, Alexandra could see that the woman outside was a beauty.

Alexandra didn’t know this woman and wondered why she was knocking on her door.

“It’s not a scammer, is it? It’s so late now.

“But will there be such a good-looking scammer?

“She seems to be in a real hurry, for she slams the door hard.

“And she keeps glancing across the direction of the stairway as if she is hiding from something scary and sinful.

“It was as if some evil people were chasing her!”

Alexandra racked her brain to analyze the situation and finally opened the door. After all, girls helped girls.

Seeing the door open a crack, the woman swiftly squeezed through the gap, quickly closed it, and locked it.

Alexandra dazedly watched the woman’s fast movements and rushed to the peephole, only to see a few men in black clothes pace back and forth in the corridor.

And the hotel security showed up as well. The two parties seemed to lie arguing.

Through the door, Alexandra could Jarar their ferre quarrel.

Someone darted a glance at the door of Alexandra’s room from time to time. Several seconds later, a security-looking person came knocking on the door.

The woman in black turned rapidly and looked nervously toward the door, her eyes meeting Alexandra’s. Then, the woman reached out her index finger and placed it on her lips.

Someone at the door raised his voice. “Sir, madam, please open the door!”

Alexandra watched the scene through the peephole, shifted her eyes to the woman, and pointed her toward the bathroom. The woman understood and dashed to the bathroom.

Alexandra then grabbed Julian’s coat on the bed, wrapped it around herself, and messed up her hair.

After getting everything prepared, she opened a crack and poked her head out. After seeing the dozen or so men in the corridor with her eyes wide, she asked with a sheepish look, “What’s wrong?”

At the sight of how tightly Alexandra was wrapped, the middle-aged security guard thought his presence had interrupted a great sex session.

With compunction, he looked straight into Alexandra’s eyes and said, “Madam, these people broke into the hotel to find. someone. They stated that a woman hid on this floor, and someone saw you open the door and let her in!”

Alexandra rolled her eyes in annoyance.

Running two fingers through her hair, she said to the security in an affectedly sweet voice, “Sir, my boyfriend and I were making out just now. Can it be that the woman walked through the wall into my

The security was stunned that this young lady spoke so undisguisedly, his face burning.

He smiled awkwardly, turned back to the men, and said, “The woman you are looking for is not here. Leave here now! If you interfere with the guests, we will call the police!”

One of the taller men gave Alexandra a hard stare and said arrogantly. “She must be lying. I witnessed someone enter her

room!”

“Uncle, he is so scary!” Alexandra pouted cutely, her big eyes shining and adorable.

The middle-aged security stepped back and said respectfully, “Madam, have a good rest. Sorry for bothering you.”

Watching the scene, the man behind almost rushed forward. Alexandra whooshed back to the room and banged the door closed.

Hearing more fierce wrangling happening in the corridor, Alexandra ended the conversation and rapidly locked the door.

She then let out a long breath.

The woman had come out of the bathroom at some point, fanning herself with her peaked cap in her hand.

With a ponytail low behind, a black jacket, and skinny jeans, the woman seemed valiant and heroic in bearing.

At this time, she was leaning against the wall and fixing her eyes on Alexandra as if watching a good show.
