Chapter 64
Chapter 64
“Shut up!” Julian Ranford growled in frustration.
Julian was not worried about the culprit who caused Alexandra Doherty to inhale sleeping drugs, but why she had such a strong reaction when he
found her.
Besides, shouldn’t she be knocked out if she was just affected by sleeping pills?
How could she break out in cold sweat, have a low fever, and be delirious?
Alexandra woke up at midnight.
When she opened her eyes, she saw an unfamiliar ceiling and smelled something unfamiliar and familiar at the same time.
Her fingers touched something soft and furry. It was very comfortable. Out of instinct, she reached out and pulled on it.
Julian’s scalp was hurting from her grip. He woke up instantly.
He looked up and saw that Alexandra’s eyes were filled with confusion as if she had not seen him yet.
“Alexandra Doherty, you’re awake? How do you feel?” Julian got up from the chair and sat on the bed. He reached out to touch her forehead. It was still very cold.
Alexandra still did not understand what had happened. She only recalled she wanted to help William with his magic performance and so, she crawled into the crystal box.
She could not remember what happened after that.
“Mr. Ranford…” Alexandra’s voice was hoarse and weak. “Where am I?”
“This is the hospital. You were a little uncomfortable just now. Can’t you remember?” Julian stared at her. Her lips were dry and purplish, and her gaze was a little unfocused and blank..
Alexandra tried her best to recall what had happened before. The thought of it made her head hurt. She frowned and raised her head, touching her
ears.
Julian got up and poured her some water. He supported her and fed her.
Then, he put down the cup and sat back on the bed. He looked at Alexandra.
Julian couldn’t bear it and said, “Don’t think about it. We’ll talk about it tomorrow. Sleep a little longer.”
“I don’t want to sleep anymore… Let’s go home. I promised Grams that I would give her a massage tonight…”
“It’s already midnight. Grams must have already gone to bed. You can give her a massage another day.”
“Oh.”
“Sleep a little longer”
“Okay. What about you?” Alexandra asked.
“I’m here. I’ll accompany you. Don’t be afraid.”
Alexandra felt at ease when he said that.
“Yeah.”
Alexandra nodded. She was indeed exhausted. She lay down again and fell asleep soon after.
Julian looked at her quietly for a while and covered her with the blanket.
He did not leave for the entire night.
In the first half of the night, Marco wanted him to go rest at the hotel opposite the hospital to rest for the night, and Marco would guard Alexandra for
him
Julian did not agree and sent Marco away.
Julian didn’t sleep much. The next morning, before Alexandra woke up, he went to the floor his father was staying to visit him.
Alexandra woke up not long after he left.
The first thing she did when she woke up was to look to the right of the bed. There was no one there, only an empty chair.
Her heart suddenly felt a little empty.
Aker a night’s rest, she was much better mentally and rationally.
She got up from the bed. She could already recall what happened last night.
She only remembered lying in the crystal bed, but she didn’t remember anything else. She also didn’t remember what the magic show was like.

Then, she suddenly realized a serious problem. She couldn’t have fallen asleep during the magic, could she?
Damn it!
She had no memories of the prize presentation!
So what exactly happened to her last night?
She even ended up in the hospital
Thinking about it gave her a headache.
“Forget it. I’ll ask Julian Ranford later,” She thought.
After waiting for a while, she still did not see anyone.
She turned around and saw her phone on the table. It was switched off
She turned on her phone and found many unread messages and calls.
She opened the phone log and realized that she had called Julian last night. Later, Julian returned the call, but she did not pick up
She seemed to remember that she was trapped within the crystal box and had called him before.
Alexandra ignored the other messages. She opened the messaging interface and sent a message to Julian, (Mr. Ranford, where are you? I’m hungry. Could you bring me some breakfast?
After sending the message, Alexandra continued to read the other unread messages.
William Jolston told her on WhatsApp that their magic performance had come in second place. William even said that Alexandra shouldn’t blame herself for falling asleep during the performance
Only then did Alexandra realize that she had indeed fallen asleep during the performance.
How embarrassing!
Julian must have seen her on stage too.
She would be a laughing stock now
Just as she was about to apologize to William, the door opened and Julian entered.
Julian saw that Alexandra was sending messages on her phone.
Seeing that she was awake, he was a little more at ease.
He walked over with a smile.
“Ding”
There was a text message on her phone.
Alexandra looked down.
I’ll be right back. What do you want to eat?]
Julian had sent that message.
Alexandra looked up at Julian, walking with one hand in his pocket. She seemed to suddenly understand something.
She lowered her head and replied, “Toast and milk.”
He replied instantly, “Alright, wait a moment.”
After receiving “Julian Ranford’s message, Alexandra finally understood.
Her chaotic and uneasy mind seemed to have been splashed with a basin of cold water. She instantly sobered up.
It turned out that she did not even have Julian’s phone number.
They were partners Alexandra was usually afraid of disturbing him, so she had never called him
It turned out that just like all the extra work, it was Julian’s assistant who helped him deal with his private affairs.
That also included the exchange between them.
Then, another message came in. (Any special orders?|
Alexandra saw the message.
She looked at Julian, who was approaching, and typed back [Not really. Thank you!
Her heart suddenly ached and she wanted to cry. All of a sudden, she felt as if she had lost something
She lowered her head, trying to hold back her tears.

She tried her best to comfort herself. Yes, they were only work partners.
What was she? She wasn’t even his friend.
“A jerk! Julian Ranford is such a sly man! Scumbag!” she cursed inwardly.
Julian walked over and looked at her drooping head. He thought that she was not feeling well, so he asked, “Are you feeling better? Rest for a while. more. Don’t keep looking at your phone.”

Alexandra nodded.
She put his phone aside.
She said nothing.
At this moment, Julian’s phone rang.
Alexandra turned around.
When Julian saw that it was a call from Marco, he took two steps to the side and answered it in front of Alexandra. “Hello”
“CEO, where are you? Mrs.. Ranford had woken up. She asked you to bring her breakfast. Some toast and milk will do. I’m already at the entrance of the hospital. I need some time.”
Julian didn’t quite hear what Marco said after that.
Because he saw Alexandra wiping her tears.
Then, his heart ached,
Marco had said that if Alexandra would be upset if she found out one day that she didn’t even have his number.
So, was she sad now?
Was she sending him a message just now?
Julian was at a loss.
He walked over, not knowing what to say.
He could not help but feel a little uncomfortable holding the phone in his hand.
“Alexandra Doherty…” He didn’t know where to start.
