The Omnipotent Mrs. Ranford By Darlene Wright

Chapter 31

Chapter 31

Soon the call was answered. The person on the other end of the line was very respectful toward Julian and was speaking in fluent Entealish. “Filion! Let me tell you. This batch is selling like crazy!”

Alex, do me a favor.”

“There’s no need for that between us! So what do you need me to do?”

“Blacklist someone from the list of N&Y’s international VIPS.

“Who is it that has offended you. Filion? If N&Y blacklists this person, then this person will be blacklisted by all the luxury bag brands in the world!”

“That’s nothing you need to be worried about.”

“Who is it? I’ll do it right away.”

Alexandra arrived at the university very early on Monday.

She had her entrance exam that morning.

When she left the house in the morning, Julian gave her some encouragement as well and told her not to be nervous.

However, it was impossible for her not to feel nervous.

Alexandra was not the only one to take the entrance exam. There were a total of five people, including her.

The venue was a small meeting room. The five of them sat on two sides.

Of the other four people, two were girls, and two were boys. The two girls were dressed very fashionably and had chewing gum in their mouths. The other two boys were obviously playboys. One had blonde hair, and the other whistled at Alexandra.

Soon, the invigilators entered the room. There were five of them.

Alexandra furrowed her brows. She didn’t expect Erik to be the lead invigilator.

Erik saw Alexandra as well. A playful look appeared in his eyes. He then cleared his throat and walked in with a few sealed. envelopes.

“Students, the questions of the entrance exams are tailored to each of you. All you have to do is to relax and not panic. You’ll

have an hour.”

Then, Erik handed the envelopes to the candidates according to the names on the envelopes.

Alexandra was the last one to be handed her envelope.

She saw the confident smiles on their faces when they opened their envelopes.

Alexandra swallowed and opened her envelope with trembling hands.

Meanwhile, under a ginkgo tree.

A few girls were talking to each other.

When Emery came out of the library, she saw Martha and her friends sneaking around, so she secretly followed them.

She then listened to what they were talking about.

Chapter 31

Seriouslydid you replace it or not? The president’s office is a very secure place. Were you able to get inside?”

“Of course! She’s really a poor and useless student. Do you know what questions Mr. McFadden was going to give her? He gave her a quadratics equation and some literature comprehension! High school–level stuff!”

What did you use as a replacement?”

“Humph! Do you remember the senior students who majored in Physics and attended the International Maths Olympiad in Generosia? Our university’s top mark was only 74. That’s barely above the pass mark!”

“Fuck! You’re not saying that you’ve replaced Alexandra’s questions with the questions of that year’s International Olympiad, did you? It was said that there weren’t answers online either!”

“Think about it, guys. It wouldn’t be reasonable for Mr. McFadden to take her in if she handed in a blank answer sheet, right?”

“But what if she cheats?”

“Don’t worry. Mr. Johnson said that the whole exam room would be under surveillance. So who would have the ability to cheat?”

At that moment, an angry woman’s voice interrupted them.

“You’ve gone too far!” Emery had heard what they were roughly talking about. She didn’t expect them to use the fact that Kelly was Mr. McFadden’s granddaughter and sneak into the president’s office to replace the entrance exam questions.

This would destroy all hopes for Alexandra.

The girls turned around and saw Emery not too far away from them. They felt a little guilty at first but quickly calmed. down.

To them, Emery was just a weakling, so they weren’t scared of her at all.

Martha crossed her arms, walked over, and raised her chin. “What? What did you hear? The exam has already started anyway. Are you going to go in there and ruin the exam?”

I’m going to tell Mr. McFadden!” Emery thought of Alexandra being set up and couldn’t successfully enroll and was determined not to let that happen.

Kelly walked over. “Emery, don’t be so naive. Who is my grandpa? Did you really think my grandpa would accept those students who don’t have talent or power? It’s obvious that someone like Alexandra has used special methods to get herself in. If she can’t pass the entrance exam, even if her paper is wrong, Grandpa will still ignore that fact. After all, everyone only has one chance to take the entrance exam. This has been a rule of the University of Highclere that has never changed for transfer students!”

Martha nodded in agreement. “That’s right! Who does Alexandra think she is? Which is more important, a transfer student or Mr. McFadden’s reputation? Or do you think enrolling Alexandra is more important than Mr. McFadden’s granddaughter’s reputation? Are you going to force Mr. McFadden to admit that his granddaughter was the one who replaced Alexandra’s papers?”

After hearing what Martha said, Emery and Kelly felt a little scared.

Emery clenched her fists and said, “Even if you drive Alexandra away, I’ll still think of a way to get her to successfully enroll in the University of Highclere, no matter what!”

“Fine! Alright then, get your dad to donate a teaching building to the university!” said Martha.

Emery turned around and left desperately. She would wait for Alexandra outside the building where she was having her

entrance exam

Alexandra didn’t know about Emery’s argument with Martha and her friends.

Chapter 31

All the other candidates had started answering their questions.

That was when Alexandra decided to open her envelope.

Erik had a rough idea of what the contents were. So when he saw Alexandra trying to open the envelope, he looked at the expression on her face with great interest. He felt that the expression on her face would be very entertaining.

“Three, two, one…”  Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Alexandra pulled out her

paper.

She looked at it.

And then again.

She then closed her eyes and opened them again.

Alexandra felt a little strange.

The paper was not as challenging as she had expected.

She took a closer look. When she saw the questions, the solutions appeared in her mind almost instantly. She didn’t even know where those solutions came from.

To Erik, Alexandra was depressed at first, but she then seemed to be suddenly enlightened.

After that, Alexandra picked up a pen and began to answer the questions.

The invigilators couldn’t be too close to the students to avoid cheating. Therefore, Erik could only look at Alexandra from a distance.

He saw her writing with great speed on the paper. She would occasionally draw something and be sometimes deep in thought.

For someone who didn’t know what happened, one would think that Alexandra could answer the questions.

The other students were very relaxed. They all looked very confident. Only Alexandra was entirely focused on what she was doing. She was looking down and entirely focused on answering the questions.

However, she couldn’t answer the last question no matter what she did.

There was something in her mind that didn’t seem to add up at all. She tried a few times but still gave up in the end.

About three–quarters of an hour later, some candidates were already handing in their papers.

Alexandra stared at the last question for a while. She still couldn’t answer it, so she gave up and handed her paper in as well.

The

papers were sealed and taken away by the other two invigilators.

The entrance exam, which Alexandra had been worried about for a week, had finally ended. She finally felt relieved. As soon. as she walked out of the building, she saw Emery sitting on a bench outside.
