The Omnipotent Mrs. Ranford By Darlene Wright

Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Julian’s tone was calm. Alexandra could not tell what he was feeling deep inside.

She clenched her fists even more tightly. With a somber expression, she explained, “You said I must not go against Grandma Josephine, but you didn’t say I couldn’t argue with my mother-in-law.”

Julian’s hands paused. Alexandra was quite good at finding loopholes.

Julian turned around and fixed his tie while facing her. There was a faint smile on his lips as he said, “So, you’re going to start arguing with me now?”

Alexandra wilted immediately.

She fell silent.

Julian did not say anything else. Instead, he went to the closet to pick out the suit he wanted to wear.

Alexandra looked at his muscular back and said, “I am sorry if I’ve upset you. I will do better next time. But it’s difficult for me to learn all those manners.”

Julian picked a dark grey jacket and turned around. He looked at Alexandra and said, “Don’t forget that this is a collaboration. Even if it’s difficult for you, you should still learn to overcome it.”

Alexandra was instantly reminded of their relationship. This was the second time tonight that he brought up their cooperation.

She breathed in deeply and pursed her lips. Then, she nodded and said, “Alright, Mr. Ranford. Remember what you’ve promised me as well. Hurry up and help me find Ace Fulton.”

Julian grew even more curious about why Alexandra wanted to find Ace.

After all, Alexandra did not have any relatives in the village. According to his investigations, Alexandra’s adoptive parents. passed away in a car accident, and she grew up with her grandmother.

But her grandmother also passed away five years ago.

Julian knew that Alexandra would not tell him even if he asked.

He put on his jacket and said, “Don’t worry. I will keep my word. I have a meeting tonight, and I don’t know when I will be back. Go to sleep early. Don’t wait up.”

“Okay”

Alexandra nodded.

She rolled her eyes inwardly though.

Dream on!

Why would she wait up for him?

Alexandra would be even more pleased if he did not return. She hoped that he would have meetings every day.

Many people saw Julian leaving the family home. One of them was Josephine’s maid, Ruth.

It was Julian’s wedding night. It was definitely not appropriate for him to go out and leave his new bride at home, no matter

the reason

Ruth turned around and went to Josephine’s room to tell her about it.

Josephine sighed when she heard the news.

She said to Ruth, I know Julian. Do you really think he wants to marry Alexandra? Ile’s just doing it because of me.”

Ruth served Josephine a cup of tea. She comforted Josephine, saying. “Mr. Ranford is a good man. He’s suffered a lot for this family.”

“Sigh…”

Alexandra was pleased to be alone on her wedding night.

Julian’s room was humongous.

Alexandra had already brought her luggage over. She only had a few summer pieces that did not take up much she opened the closet, she saw rows of women’s clothing.

space.

When

Her eyes lit up immediately.

She picked out a random dress. The dress was totally her size, and they were brands she had never seen before. Alexandra touched the dress and immediately knew that it was not cheap.

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

How great it was to have money!

Alexandra found a new set of pajamas and went

ent off to shower happily,

After she was done with her shower, she could not help but sigh. The bathrooms of rich

people were super big as well!

Alexandra dried her hair and stood in the middle of the room. She looked around and chose the couch in the end.

She couldn’t possibly let Julian sleep on the couch, could she?

She was sensible enough to know that.

After making her bed with some sheets, Alexandra jumped onto the sofa and took out her phone.

She found that Jesper had called her numerous times while she was eating and taking a shower. There were also unread

messages.

The two had spoken on the phone before, but not very often. Alexandra knew that Jesper was very busy.

Alexandra texted him. I was busy carlier. What’s up?]

She received a reply right after she sent a reply. Why did you get married without telling anyone? Who did you marry?]

[You wouldn’t know even if I told you. Alexandra did not want to talk about Julian with Jesper

Jesper texted back. [Aren’t you only 20? Why are you in such a hurry to get married?]

Alexandra sat cross-legged on the sofa. She figured that Jesper was just an online friend, and sometimes, it was easier to tell at complete stranger about all sorts of problems..

Jesper, I got married to find Ace.]

[Ace?

[Last winter, I caught a cold and lost sight for half a day. I was so scared and went to the hospital, but the doctor told me that it might happen again. He said that a famous doctor in the country, Ace Fulton, could treat me. There’s a man who is willing to help me find Ace, so I got married to him. But our marriage is fake. He needs to get married because of his family, and I need him to help me find Ace…]

Alexandra had only just pressed the “send” button when Jesper replied. [Why didn’t you tell me you were looking for Ace? Why didn’t you tell me you were ill last winter??]||

[Jesper, don’t worry. I didn’t need to tell you that. I don’t know where you are and you don’t know where I am.]

[Alexandra, where are you?]

Alexandra replied after some hesitation. [Highclere City]

[Wait for me. Once I am done with work, I will come and look for you. I will help you look for Ace.]

[No need, Jesper. You are so busy.] Alexandra did not understand. They were just online friends who didn’t even contact each other for months on end at times. Why was he suddenly so helpful?

However, Jesper stopped replying after that.

Alexandra waited for a long time, but Jesper did not reply.

Alexandra wondered if Jesper had dropped his phone in the toilet.

Alexandra lay on the sofa and thought of everything that had happened in the last few days since she arrived at Highclere City. It was way more exciting and interesting than everything she had experienced in the last 20 years of her life.

She fell asleep as she thought about it.

Julian did not actually have a meeting. He just felt tired and wanted to escape from all the troubles and worries at home. As such, he went to Vermont Club and got a private room to drink in.

Marco waited in the room next door while Julian was drinking.

Marco was worried that Julian might seem too pitiful while drinking alone, so he secretly called Julian’s friend, Carson Walters. Carson was also the heir of the Walters family, one of the three wealthiest families in Highclere City.

Carson happened to be on a different floor of the same club. When he received Marco’s call, he left his mates and went outside to look for Julian.

Carson was one of the major shareholders of Vermont Club, so he could go wherever he wished without restrictions. He met Marco at the door of Julian’s room and went straight in.

Julian was sitting alone on the couch. There was a bottle of fine wine on the table.

When Julian saw Carson, he said. “Marco’s becoming more like a mother who likes to nag

Carson sauntered toward Julian. He smelt of alcohol and women. He sat down next to Julian and poured himself a glass of

wine.

He knew that Julian had gotten married, but he had gotten hold of the news elsewhere..

Julian did not tell him about it.

Of course, people like Carson were no fools. Carson naturally knew of the ins and outs of why Julian got married.

Carson picked up his wine glass and hooked his arm around Julian’s neck. He said, “Hey, you’re the most pathetic groom 1 have ever met. Did your wife kick you out?”

Julian flung his arm away and ignored him.

Carson was a happy-go-lucky person and was not as serious or somber as Julian.

Carson put his arm on the armrest of the couch and sipped on his wine.
