The Omega Best Friend

Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Kade–The Bond

Finished

I’d never felt that way before. It was like I was finally found and I didn’t even know I’d been searching this entire time. I didn’t know what I was doing when I saw her leave the ceremony and decided to follow her. I couldn’t stop myself or my wolf. She looked so vulnerable even when she was down earlier that day after standing up to Leiah she was still defiant.

Seeing her so exposed jerked something in me. I didn’t intend to talk to her, but I let myself get. caught. I ran a hand through my hair just thinking about last night’s encounter. She was so different. She didn’t even address me right and I liked that she didn’t. I knew when she turned around and saw me, there was a deep pull I felt in my soul. She was mine.

I didn’t know what ticked me off more the fact that she didn’t know we were mates or everything that came with our bond. I remembered her walking into the dark omega quarters. I stayed out there watching the place to make sure a homy wolf didn’t go in there after her. I saw the way every guy looked at her at the ceremony like she was a juicy steak.

It crushed me. I wanted to grab someone by the throat and claim her as my own. I should have known something was up last night. Many complications came with having a mate without at wolf, especially in the Sanders pack. I couldn’t think about my pack. I had to focus on now.

I didn’t think I’d be fortunate enough to have a fated mate so I took a chosen mate. Fated mates had become scarce over the years. Now here I was stuck with two mates and I was only drawn to one. I couldn’t keep them both! Knowing Harlow, she would kill Gabbie if she found out

The door swung inwards. I flipped over to my side. I knew it was Harlow by her scent.

“We’ve got things to do sleepy head.” She said.  Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I groaned, “You’re my girlfriend, not my assistant.”

“You’re in a bad mood.” She snapped.

I ran a hand down my face. The sun seeped into my room, reminding me of my obligations. I could only think about seeing Gabbie. Harlow placed her claws on my thigh, forcing me to look

at her.

“You’ve been distracted lately Kade, what is it?”

I scrutinized her and noticed something missing. I blinked a couple of times. That couldn’t be possible.

“No, nothing.” I looked away. “I’ll be downstairs in a couple of minutes.”

She scowled and climbed on the bed. She straddled me and pinned me on the bed. I gripped her wrists. I wasn’t in the mood for this which was weird because I was always in the mood.

“Want me to make your bad mood go away?” She tilted her head to the side, her voice sliding from rough to sweet.

I looked away, “No Harlow. I have things to do.”

She shoved me and growled. “You’re impossible Kade! See you later.”

She stormed out of my room, leaving me wondering what the hell just happened. I marked Harlow on her neck two years ago. Today her mark was gone.

I went downstairs and the rest of the Alpha squad was in a heated debate. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gareth, the alpha who thought he was the king of us all started it. My girlfriend hadn’t saved me a seat so I had to settle for the far end across from Gareth.

With everyone talking over each other just like every alpha meeting we have. I couldn’t understand what the commotion was about

“Alright Gareth, what the hell is this about?” I barked, quieting the table a notch.

Gareth shrugged, “It isn’t me this time Sanders. Richardson’s pack is considering bringing back the omega rituals.”

I snapped my head at the medium–built alpha on the other side of the table

“Why the hell would you do that?” I spat. Why did I care?

“I think it’s a wonderful idea.” Leiah beamed

I wasn’t surprised she did. The only person to stand up to her was an omega.

“It’s insane. The trials never made sense, to begin with.” Alex sneered.

“I know, I know, I was trying to say the rituals would be modified. It worked for most packs. especially when their strongest wolves were finding it difficult to bear wolves.”

“As long as we keep the part where the omega dies I’m more than willing to jump on board.” Leiah smiled as she sliced into the stake in front of her.

My nails dug into my skin. For a second I forgot I was at a crowded table. Thankfully, no one noticed the look I gave Leiah was enough to steal the breath from her lungs. A second longer and my wolf would have flashed. I caught Alex giving his girlfriend a similar glare and this time I almost couldn’t control my wolf. He was going to show.

I shoved the chair back. I didn’t care for this debate. I didn’t care what other packs did with their omegas. I’d never cared about them to begin with. I went upstairs to change. If I didn’t lift something two times my size, I was going to lose it. The first person to say shit to me would get his teeth knocked out of him.

The castle

le gym was outside in an extended section that also kept the storage room. A couple of hours in there would help me ease the tension and forget a girl with strawberry–blonde hair. Fuck. I wanted her hair in my hands. I knew she would fit nicely under my arm.

This is better work. My damn wolf was dragging me to school. That is the last place I should be. Gabbie has no idea we’re mates and I have to keep it that way.

“How long do you think you’ll be gone?” I heard voices as I neared the gym entrance.

“I don’t know a few days. Five days max. But I can’t leave her on her own. You know how she is.” Alex said.

I didn’t know who he was talking to. Couldn’t be one of the alphas that’s for sure. My wolf growled. He was talking about Gabbie.

“Yeah… she is a handful. What do you want me to do?”

“Keep an eye on her. Make sure she doesn’t know you’re watching her.”

The other puffed, “What’s she going to do if she finds out?”

“She’ll kick your ass, Ryan. Just keep her out of trouble.”

I smirked like an idiot, just thinking that Gabbie could beat a beta. She’d already done it. I snapped out of it when Alex and Ryan walked out of the gym. I cast Alex a sideways glance. I had a score to settle with Alex that wouldn’t change because of Gabriella Chambers. Aside from Gareth, Alex was my main target this battle season.

I added the weights. I was going to be here for hours. Forgetting Gabriella was going to be harder than I thought.
