She had awakened long before she heard Straffe calling her name, listening to the sirens, the scuffled feet, the explosions and screams

but she just laid there with all of her senses exhausted, her only thoughts being of flowers and dirt. “Sharissa! Sharissa!” Hearing her name helped regain her focus. Blurry-eyed, she began realizing Straffe was huddled above her, tending to her needs. With her body still limp, she allowed him to take control as he lifted her up and carried her away. “Just hold on,” she heard, realizing she was no longer in danger. Now relaxed, she gained confidence that Straffe would take her away from this now awful place. She peacefully closed her eyes as she cradled in his arms and rested her head on his chest, now enjoying the smell of the rose tucked away in his breast pocket.
