Chapter 5 – Explanation time
“You put us in a hotel and then have us come to a business building,” Anna said as she walked up to Grayson and gave him a hug. “What in the hell is going on, luv?”
“Ahem,” I cleared my throat behind them and extended my hand. “I’m Fire.”
“Alpha Anna.” I watched as another woman hugged Grayson as I shook Anna’s hand and kept my fangs in check. He was mine now and I had to remember that. “A pleasure Fire. Let me introduce my mate, Betty.” I watched as the other woman turned around and flung her arms at me.
“We were bloody overjoyed to hear our Grayson finally found a good woman. And one as gorgeous as you.” She pulled back and grinned, giving my poor mind a moment to catch up. And when it did, I turned and glared at Grayson who only laughed. He knew what I was thinking and yet did nothing or said nothing. “You must tell me Fire, how you landed this man.”
“I promise Betty, I will sit down and explain. And we are sorry, Anna, that we couldn’t put you up at the pack house. But I also promise, once we all sit down and talk, everything will make way more sense.” I smiled as I led them back to my conference rooms and felt Grayson take my hand.
“I told you that you had nothing to worry about,” he whispered in my ear.
“I’m so getting you back.” He smirked and gave me a kiss before we walked into the room. We both stepped aside to allow the ladies to sit where they liked. Once we had figured out we need a meeting with all the supernatural’s around, we figured a territory wouldn’t work. So, we thought one of my conference rooms on a weekend would be ideal, and here we all sat.
“As you can see, we have quite a few powerful people in this room. We have the lords of two covens: Elric and Derrick. We have two very strong Alpha’s: Anna and Dylan. And we have two heads of powerful families: Jonah and Tessa,” I sad as everyone looked around before looking back at us.
“We also know that you all are questioning why. The time to set aside differences and finally work together to be united as one unit, is now,” Grayson started. “We are sure you have heard of or maybe even seen the problem we are facing, of our species turning into demons. There are a lot of things that we can’t tell you because even we don’t know, but we hope by all of us working together, we can find out what is going on.
“You are called to help us, for this upcoming war. I won’t go beyond that however, until we know that all of you are willing to help. But most importantly, that you will keep quiet about everything until we tell you otherwise,” Grayson wrapped up, looking around the room at the people. Everyone was looking at him and they all nodded.
“Perfect,” I said walking up beside Grayson and laid the book on the table. “This is the journal of Sol.”
“It can’t be,” Derrick said, his eyes flicking to mine.
“Oh, it is. On top of that, I’m his daughter. In fact, Grayson’s own mother is the Goddess Lunella. That being said, let us lay out what we do know, what we like you to do and then move on from there.
“There is a fourth God we have never even heard of, Demonio; he is the one who creates demons, who in turn are possessing us.”
“How?” I looked at Jonah and shrugged.
“That is what we are figuring out but don’t know. We do know they are nasty things though and can’t live for very long, and we can’t figure out why.” I sighed and glanced at Grayson.
“We had a visit,” he started, “from all three Gods and they even old us a war was coming, between us and these demons. That we would be the rulers of everyone and both fight and protect every one of you; us and our children.”
“What children?” Derrick popped out.
“How can you protect witches? You don’t know anything about us!” Jonah bellowed.
“Derrick, I assure you, we have a set of twins, Rayne and Rosemina.” I nudged Grayson when he was done to pull out his phone to show the pictures and Derrick’s jaw dropped before looking at me.
“How is that possible?”
“I would love to say I have the way, but that was done through God’s magic and not my, or, Grayson’s own. And Jonah, as for your question, both Grayson and I were raised by witches, we know spells, we understand feelings and we know all about you.” He lifted a brow and glanced between the two of us.
“Well, okay, I see.” But we know none of them really could see. Hell we had proof and barely saw, let alone understood.
“When you say rulers,” Anna started, her brow wrinkling, “what do you mean, exactly? There has never been a ruler of the super naturals.”
“You are right Anna, but the Gods will have a ceremony on the next eclipse to crown us and our children as the ruling class. Believe me when I say it’s the last thing her or I ever wanted, but it is why we were created, why we are unique and why we are mated for each other, she is my sigma mate.”
“Well then.” She looked between us and nodded. “I will follow you wherever you two will lead us.”
“Good. Because so far, all we know from this book is that Fire and I are some kind of prophecy. Beyond that, we don’t know. So, what we are bringing to you is to make you our Generals in this pending war. Each of you will have tasks that will help us, and when the time comes, you will help us make an army.”
“No offense, but this all would seem a lot easier to just ask the God’s,” Dylan said and I had to smile.
“You are right, it would be. But since they don’t stick around for very long and we can’t call on them, it’s up to us. We all have gifts they have bestowed upon us, and it’s these very gifts that will help us down this path. There was nothing left to chance with all of us.
“Amazing when you start to think about it,” I chuckled after I said that. “This is not an easy road, though I wish it were. There are many unknown factors we will be going up against but I know and have faith in each one of you and I believe in us and our strengths.”
“Fire and I,” Grayson said, taking my hand, “stole this book, with the help of some friends. The General was translating it, so we know there is very valuable information in there. We aren’t sure he got it, or,” he paused and looked at me. This was the part I was most worried about. Of all the unknown factors, this was something Grayson and I had talked about time and again since finding out. “Or the time frame we are looking at. We know its coming, we just don’t know if we are talking days, months, or years.”
