The Necromancer's Wand: Rise of the Phoenix

Chapter Epilogue: Trial of the Century

Many commoners came to make an appearance at the “Trial Of The Century”. I was being sentenced by the two remaining Council of Magic members, Kalvin Krowley and Lucian Von Castle. Both stared with looks that could kill.

Councilman Krowley was of African heirtage. His wizard clothing was unique, having mixed his culture into his style. Councilman Von Castle, on the other hand, was part of one of the most prominent families of the magical world. He dressed in crimson and black aristocratic clothing, wearing a Cavalier Vest.

The room was loud, filled with civilian conversation. Some of the people I faced had family present here, like Elenore and Ian Summit. Those people screamed for justice, that I be punished harshly for my actions.

I was dressed in a royal blue prison uniform. My name, Corvin Phoenix, and inmate number, 40200, was stitched over the left pectoral of my shirt. I was forced to wear a mask, cast of iron, for my appearance made many uncomfortable.

“Corvin Phoenix,” spoke Kalvin Krowley in his deep, raspy, tone. The people grew quiet for the councilman. “You are being tried for numerous crimes, from multiple murders, to robbery, and treason...How do you plea?”

“Guilty, your honor,” I replied sarcastically. I looked up at Kalvin Krowley sitting next to his only fellow council member, Lucian Von Castle. They sat at a long court bench, with two empty chairs.

“Just look over,” I spoke again. “It seems were missing a few members of our esteemed Council of Magic.”

“Enough,” said Lucian, having a politican’s suave tone. I could tell he was starting to become annoyed with my joking manner.

“Fret not Coucilmen, they did not suffer.”

“I said, ‘Enough!’” he yelled in fury. “Hold your tongue or be held in contempt.”

“Strap me down, confine me in a cage, or chain me like an animal for it matters not,” I spoke calmly. “I will be free again and change will come....to both worlds.”

“You are delusional,” scoffed Kalvin. “You are going to rot for the remainder of your days...”

“No, councilman. It is you who will rot...you and Von Castle.”

“I have heard enough,” claimed Lucian. “The prisoner is found guilty of all charges. He shall be taken to Scarlet Bay, where he will carry out a life sentence without the possibility of parole.” He slammed his luminescent orb-like gavel down onto the bench, adjourning the court.

As the inquisitors came to take me away, I decided to get in a final word. “I want you to know something councilmen,” I started. “We will meet again, I can assure you...but it will be an exchange of wands not words.”

“Well, to wishful thinking Mr. Phoenix...” mocked Lucian.

I was transferred from the courthouse, with the help of a black Pegasus drawn carriage. We, my captors and I, flew from Spellbound heading out to the open sea. Scarlet Bay was on a remote, secluded, island that was surrounded by red waters.

“Home sweet home...” I whispered to myself, staring out the carriage window upon the prison.

“I found it!” I called out. I picked the bone wand up, holding it firmly in my grasp. I was almost moved to tears, thinking of my love being imprisoned at Scarlet Bay. I quickly gathered myself as I heard the others approaching in a hurry.

“I told you!” Micah laughed. “One of us, competent girls, would find it.”

“Yeah, yeah...” huffed Damien.

“What now?” asked Hector.

“We plan...” I chimed in, still looking at the wand. “We wait for the perfect time...and then we free our lord...”
