Chapter TWENTYONE-INTERROGATIONS
Antonio POV
After returning to the castle, I took Staci to our room to rest. The challenge may have stressed her out as she looked a little exhausted. I was tucking Staci in when a mind link came through.
"Alpha?" I heard Juliano's voice.
"Yes, Juliano?" I responded.
"We have the other two rogues ready for your interrogation," Juliano said.
"Be right there," I said and closed the mind link.
I kissed Staci on the forehead and headed out of the bedroom. She started snoring lightly.
"The pup and training take much of her energy," Ares noted.
"I know. I wish she would take training slowly."
"But with everything going on lately, I know she needs this. We all do," I told my wolf.
The elevator descended to the last floor, the doors slid open, and I stepped off. I walked down the long, dimly lit hallway as Gamble, one of the warriors on duty, saw me approach.
"Alpha," he bowed and opened the door.
I stepped through the door and walked down the second long hallway, stopping in front of two solid metal doors and a padlock. I typed in my code as the doors hissed open and entered the last hallway.
I walked to the room on the right where both of the rogues were located, and as I stepped through the door, both rogues had their hands and feet handcuffed to the chairs they were sitting in.
I walked toward the chairs and stopped before them as their heads snapped up, and I saw the fear in their eyes.
"Good, you assholes should be afraid," I thought.
They quickly masked their fear by trying to look intimidating as I scoffed and released some of my Alpha aura as both rogues trembled.
"Who sent you?" I asked them.
"We aren’t talking," the rogue to my right scoffed.
I punched him in the jaw as he whined in pain.
"We can go about this the easy way or the hard way."
"But you will tell me what I want to know," I said, looking them both in the eyes.
The same rogue spat at my feet and growled at me. I could see his wolf trying to show dominance as he flashed in the stranger's eyes.
"Hard way it is then," I said as I walked over to the table behind me and looked at my choice of tools and torture devices.
"Hmm?" I picked up some pliers and returned to the rogue on my left.
"So, you two don’t want to talk, huh," I said as I held the rogue’s hand.
"No, please, he’s my brother. Don’t hurt him," the rogue to my right said and whimpered.
"Then tell me what you know," I growled, holding the pliers against his fingernail.
"Please! Please! We can’t say, or he’ll kill us!" he pleaded.
"He who?" I asked, getting annoyed as I looked at the rogues.
"We don’t know his name."
"We were all hanging out in this run-down bar when he asked if anyone wanted to make money."
"My brother, myself, and a few other rogues volunteered. We didn’t care about the job. We just wanted the money. He paid us one thousand each," the older man said.
"What’s the name of the bar? And can you describe the man who paid you?" I asked, looking him in the dark brown eyes.
"I’m not saying shit else unless you let us go," he growled.
I laughed as both rogues' eyes went wide, and I felt them tremble with fear.
"I find it interesting when these rogues start acting tough," I thought.
"So, you are done talking, huh," I said as I pulled the nail off his brother’s finger as he howled in pain.
"Stop! Stop! Okay! Please stop!" he yelled.
"Talk then!" I growled and looked him in the eyes. I held the pliers against another finger as the man shook and started talking.
"The bar is called Trade Routes."
"The man who paid us was about 6'3, with dark brown hair, a goatee, and gray eyes.
"That’s all I know, I swear!" I heard the rogue say as I turned to look at Carter, and he nodded.
"What about the Beta wolf that was with you?" I asked, wondering how Grayson got mixed in with these idiots.
"The man told us the blonde-haired guy was in charge and to follow his orders."
"We didn't want to at first until we realized he was a ranked wolf," the older rogue said.
I rubbed my temples, feeling a slight headache coming as the idea that Grayson told this unknown wolf who Staci was and sent these imbeciles after her. Since Grayson and Staci grew up in the same pack, he knew everything about her.
"Fucking idiot," I growled lowly, wanting to kill Grayson again for his betrayal.
"Let them go," I told Juliano.
"Alpha, are you," Juliano started speaking, but I cut him off.
"I said let them go, Gamma."
"We have what we need for now," I told Juliano as he nodded.
I turned to the rogues and let my aura seep out as they trembled and closed their eyes in fear as Ares came forward.
"If my warriors or I catch you on my territory again, you're dead," Ares growled.
I walked out of the dungeon and headed to my office. I knew Carter could hack into the bar's security cameras and get an identity on this mystery wolf who tried to kidnap my mate.
Once I entered my office, I picked up the office phone and dialed a number. The line rang a few times, and then it finally picked up as a deep voice spoke.
"P.I. Glen Dawson," he said.
"Mr. Dawson. It's Alpha Antonio of the Blue Eclipse pack," I said.
Glen was a family friend and once part of the pack. He became a private investigator and works for us and other supernaturals. Glen is one of the best and can find anything or anybody.
"Aquila's boy?" he asked and chuckled through the phone.
"The same," I smiled.
"Good to hear from you. How is the family?" Glen asked.
"They're good, and I found my mate, and we're expecting," I chuckled and heard Glen cheer over the phone.
"Congratulations Alpha. That's wonderful news," Glen said.
"Listen, I called because I need a favor," I said as Glen hummed.
"How can I help?" Glen asked.
I told Glen about the situation with the rogues and the mysterious wolf after my mate. I haven't gone into detail about Staci being a white wolf just yet because I wanted to keep that a secret.
"What's the name of the bar that the rogues said they met this wolf?" Glen asked.
"Trade Routes."
"I have Carter hacking into the security footage and trying to get an identity on this guy," I told Glen as he hummed.
"I'll work the inside and see if I can find some answers and get back to you," Glen said.
I heard the office door open, and the scent of strawberry shortcake filled the room. I turned in my chair to see Staci in the doorway, yawning and stretching her limbs as she smiled at me.
"Alpha?" Glen's voice snapped me back to reality.
"Yes, I'm here," I said.
Staci walked inside the office, closed the door behind her, and crawled into my lap.
Staci POV
I woke up feeling well-rested and refreshed; I stretched and yawned, realizing I was alone.
"Antonio?" I called but was met with silence, so I mink-linked him. But I was met with a mental block.
"Hmm," I wondered and got out of the bed.
I went inside the bathroom to use the toilet. When I was done, I wiped myself and flushed. I walked over to the sink to wash my hands and looked at myself in the mirror. I wiggled my fingers and smiled at the water dancing in the sink.
I finished washing my hands and dried them off. My stomach rumbled from hunger, and I decided to find Antonio so we could head down for dinner. I left our bedroom, walked out of our suite, and headed for the elevator. I pressed the call button for the elevator as the doors opened, and Antonio's scent filled my senses. The doors closed, and I pushed the button for the fourth floor, and the doors closed. The elevator began its descent. The elevator stopped once I reached the fourth floor, and the doors opened.
As I stepped off the elevator, I walked towards Antonio’s office. Upon arriving, I heard voices, realizing one was that of my mate and the other was a man I didn’t recognize. I grabbed the knob and turned it to open the door, and stepped inside. I saw Antonio sitting at his desk with his back to me while talking to a man on speakerphone.
Antonio must have caught my scent because he turned and smiled at me in his chair. I yawned and stretched my limbs. I walked inside the office and closed the door behind me as Antonio's eyes never left my face.
"Alpha?" I heard the man's deep voice.
"Yes, I’m here," Antonio said as I crawled into his lap and placed my head against his chest.
"I'll report the details when I get answers. Give me a few weeks," the man on the phone told Antonio as the line clicked.
Antonio hung up the speaker and looked down at me. He smiled and ran his fingers through my hair.
"Who was that?" I asked as I looked up into his eyes and sighed.
"His name is Glen Dawson, and he's a P.I.," Antonio said.
Antonio told me what happened while I was taking my afternoon nap. He, Carter, and Juliano got the rogues to talk. They discovered some information and how Grayson was involved, but the rogues claimed not to know who the mysterious wolf that paid them and their friends was. Later, Antonio told me that he had let the rogues go, which made me gasp.
"Is that safe? Are you sure they won't try to attack us again?" I asked, feeling a shiver go down my spine.
"They're brothers. I'm quite sure we won't be seeing them again."
"Especially with the Alpha command I gave them," Antonio said, making me sigh with relief.
Antonio and I talked for a few more minutes about the plans he suggested to find out who this mysterious wolf was until my stomach rumbled again. Antonio laughed and kissed my lips quickly.
"Let's go see what's for dinner," Antonio said, grabbing my hand as he stood up.
We headed downstairs to join our friends for dinner.
