Chapter 20
My hands gripped my shirt, which only ended mid thigh. In my defense, if I had known that I would be standing in front of London's three most dangerous men, I wouldn't have worn something so flimsy. My eyes were focused on Sebastian, as he stood up and walked around his desk, coming towards me.
I felt my breath catch in my throat, when he stopped only inches away; his eyes analyzing the damage that had been done.
<< Both of you get out of here, »> he finally spoke, << but someone bring the first aid kit. >>
I didn't bother turning around, and only listened to the sounds of shuffling feet exiting the room. Within a minute, someone returned with a large medical kit, placing it on the ground by the door, before leaving me alone with Sebastian.
I chewed on my lip nervously as Sebastian moved past me, carrying the kit to his desk, where he placed it. He turned his attention back to me, and I debated whether I should try to make a break for it, or wait and see what happens. Apparently, Sebastian King can read me like a book, because he quickly moved forward, and gently placed his hands on my hips.
<< You okay? You're being very skittish. >> Sebastian asked, his hands unmoving.
The pattern, Evie ! Don't forget the pattern. Sebastian is anything but nice; you can't trust him!
I remembered how he looked almost hurt yesterday, when I told him that I didn't trust him.
<< I'm fine. >> I told him shakily, attempting to subtlety slip away from him. His eyes narrowed for a fraction of a second, and he gave my body a tug, an action in which the result was me falling straight into him.
I let out a squeak of surprise as my body made contact with his, his large arms holding me close to his body.
<< I'll be the judge of that. >> His voice was raspy and rough, and sent tingles down my spine. He turned us around, and moved me backwards towards his desk. I allowed him to move me, shivering when he finally pulled away. My hands immediately moved back to clutch onto my shirt while his eyes scanned my body.
<< Damn, >> he muttered. << I didn't think he roughed you up this much. >>
I sighed, « No he didn't, I just bruise easily. >>
Sebastian seemed to think it over, his doubtful expression remaining unconvinced.
It was true though. I had always been one to bruise easily, even if I hadn't actually gotten hurt.
<< I can't have you trying to bait people while looking like you've been hit by a car. » He muttered.
I rolled my eyes at his dramatics. <«< Please, it's not that bad and we both know it. Nothing a little make up can't cover up. >>
Sebastian ran his hand through his hair, and his eyes flickered to my wrist. I watched as he slowly reached out, frowning when I flinched away. He took my wrist into his hand, lifting it up so that he could examine it up close. << Okay,» he finally spoke. << Take a seat on my desk. >>
I felt my brows furrow in confusion, but obeyed his order. He expertly took out gauze and a black brace, wrapping up my wrist delicately.
<< How did this happen? » He asked, as he adjusted the brace to fit my wrist. It was stiff and but eased the pain, and I was grateful for that.
<< I- uh, well Chuck, I blocked myself from one of Chuck's punches. >> I stammered, struggling to explain.
Sebastian scoffed and looked into my eyes. << Obviously that didn't work too well, now did it ? >>
I frowned and hopped off of the desk, standing extremely close to Sebastian now. << What's that supposed to mean? >>
<< Other than the obvious, >> he stated, gesturing to my bruised wrist. << You're going to need to start training with us, and someone is going to need to teach you self-defense. >>
My jaw lowered slightly and I felt the irritation pour out of myself through words. << Are you saying that I can't defend myself? Well, thank you for your concern but I can handle myself quite well, and I don't need any-<<

<< Training? Self-defense ? » Sebastian shook his head as he laughed. << I don't care if you want it or not, as a part of Kings, you'll obey whatever I say. >>
The stubborn, defiant monster within my growled with rage.
I have never been one to follow orders, which was always something that annoyed the hell out of Danny. I knew my lack of respect would get me in trouble, but it seemed to just come naturally to me.
<< I'm only doing this to help you. >> Sebastian's words halted my internal rant, and I had to tilt my head upwards in order to look him in the eye.
« Okay. »
The answer seemed to shock us both, and we stared at each other, temporarily surprised.
<< What, no snarky response ? » Sebastian asked, leaning forward so that his arms became barriers on either side of me, trapping me against the desk. A slight smile quirked at the corners of my mouth, and I gently pushed on his arms, trying to find a way to break free.
<< I didn't think I had a choice, King. » I replied, my eyes sparkling.
<< Ah, » Sebastian sighed, << there's the Evelyn I know and hate. >>
I smirked as he lowered his arms, allowing me to walk by.
<< She'll never be gone for long. >> I called out as I exited the room.
I made my way back upstairs, my eyes flitting over the simple, dull interior design. It was still hard for me to comprehend that I was going to be staying here, even when Danny and London's Eyes returned.
Speaking of which, it seems as if Danny has forgotten all about me. Not one call was returned, not one text was answered, and here I was, questioning if he even was alive.

There was something in the back of my mind that told me Danny was fine, but to not expect anything from him anytime soon. The gang had to go into hiding, so for all I know, he could have gotten rid of his phone and anything that could serve as a tracking device.
I changed into a tank top, along with a pair of sport shorts, just in time for someone to start knocking on my door.
«Yes ? » I called out, watching as the door slowly opened.
<< Good, you're ready. » Callum said, leaning against the doorway. I frowned, looking down at what I was wearing, before realizing what he meant.
<< I'm training today? >> I asked, already knowing the unfortunate answer. He gave me a short nod, a smile fixed on his face. Sighing, I pulled on a pair of running shoes, and followed him out the door.
<< Are you sure she's ready for training ? » Callum asked as we entered what seemed to be the living room, where Mason and Sebastian now were.
I frowned and crossed my arms over my chest, an awkward action since my left wrist was bandaged and in a brace.
<< Of course I am, >> I retorted.
<< You heard her. » Sebastian stated, nodding towards me. << Make sure she's back by three o'clock. I want her meet the rest of the gang. >>
I wasn't sure if I should be scared at the fact that I was going to meet the rest of the gang, or annoyed that Sebastian was talking like I wasn't there.
« Alright, we should be done around that time anyways, » Callum agreed, pulling a pair of keys out of his back pocket and dangling them around.
<< Push her to her limits, >> Sebastian added as we left walked out the door. << Let's see what she's made of. >>
My hands twitched by my sides, and I narrowed my eyes angrily.
<< Come on. >> I snapped at Callum, grabbing his arm and tugging him out of the house completely.
The car ride was surprisingly not bad at all. In fact, I learned a lot about Callum, along with things about Mason and Sebastian. They were very good friends, the three of them, and have been that way for a long time.
