Chapter 11
Back in Mark’s office, the brothers were surveying the crime scene photos of the grave robberies. Mark was eyeing the picture frame of his smiling parents on his desk, narrowing his gaze only at his father with a frown on his face. He let out a sigh before looking away.
“Yo,” the humans peeped up to see Rufus in a black suit standing in the doorway with a cheesy smile on his face. “Anything?” he entered the room.
Arvel swallowed the lump inside of his throat when Rufus closed the door. That same fear feeling washed over him again.
“Yeah, before the kidnappings,” began Oliver, who got up from the floor. “There was body snatching,” he handed one of the photos to Rufus. “Oh, don’t sit in that child chair. I think I broke it. Anything on your end?”
“We got word that Dany wants to summon the Horsemen and we summon Death to warn him,” Rufus squinted his eyes at the picture as the hunters’ eyes widened at his comment. He noticed some little numbers in the tire marks gash in the grass next to a tombstone. “Did they ever scan the numbers?” he asked Mark.
Mark got up from his chair and walked over to the werewolf. He took the photo and examined it. “I don’t see any numbers, only disrespectful.”
Rufus pointed to the marks. “They’re right there in the gash.”
Mark headed back to his desk and grabbed a magnifying glass to read the numbers. “Wow, nice eyesight there,” he typed the numbers into his computer and gave a silent snort with a smile. “Serial numbers belongs to a Toyota Crown Hearse that went missing a week before the robberies. Lucky for us, the funeral home has cameras, and we got the tapes.”
The hunters and knight gathered around the computer to watch the security footage. It showed a young man and a masked woman entered the garage. Oliver detected something on the tape as well as the twins. The brothers raised their brows as they continued watching the young male pick-locking the driver’s door and getting in along with the female.
“That can’t be right,” whispered Oliver when the twins turned to look at him.
