The Mate of Two: The Ruby Wolf Series

It was nice to be back home. Blake was in his office going over issues that arose while we were gone. I was able to convince him on the way home to let me read everything there was about my fate.

Unfortunately, he wanted me to wait a few days while he settled other issues. I understood to an extent. I knew he needed to get things in order, but I didn't want to sit and wait. I wanted to be able to learn about what my future will be like. What the history behind the Ruby Wolf was.

I knocked on the door to his office after my walk through the garden. I was bored and knew he had a few items that I could read now.

"Come in." He called.

"Can I read one of the books on the history of your pack."

"Our pack and yes. Second shelf fourth book on the right." He said without looking up.

"Thank you."

"You can sit in here if you'd like. I know I've been busy since we got back."

"It's okay. I know you have a lot to do. I was just going to go to our room and sit in bed while I read."

"You won't bother me if you stay."

"Blake, You haven't even looked up from those papers since I walked in. What if you needed to have a meeting or someone came in to see you. Me sitting here wouldn't be welcomed."

He sighed and stood, walking over to me. "Baby, I know you still don't understand our world. You are still new, but having the Luna in on meetings of any kind. Whether it be someone coming in to update me on something or an important meeting of a crisis, you are welcomed. Being Luna has so much more meaning than just being my strength and weakness." He walked over to the shelf and grabbed a book. "Here, this will be the perfect book for you to read as well. You can read it before or after the one in your hand. But this will help you with the duties of a Luna. I am sorry that my mother.... That she wasn't there... isn't.... You see the previous Luna normally helps the future Luna with finding her place and understanding all of the duties and responsibilities."

I looked down unable to meet the pity I saw in his eyes. "You pity me. But it was you who lost your parents."

"Ariel..." He sighed running his hands through his hair. "This journey that we face. All the hardships we have had and will have.... Ariel, I hold no feelings towards my parents. Like I said before. It is going to be harder on you. You may have been born into this. But you weren't raised in our life. You know nothing of the history or the meaning of being the packs Luna."

"I will learn. I have you."

"Yes, but I am the Alpha. If you have questions and I am busy or not even here, you'll be lost. That's what the previous Luna did, She helped guide the future Luna."

"I can learn from the books just as well.."

"Yes, but there's issues that arise that aren't in the books."

"I can manage..."

"You wouldn't be able too."

"You don't know that."

"Yes I do!" He yelled

I flinched away from him. How did a simple talk turn into an argument.

"A weak Luna could be the downfall of the entire pack, Ariel."

"I don't understand where you are going with this." I said.

"I can't have a weak Luna. You need to prove to me that you can do this. That you can be the Luna that this pack needs."

"I am doing the best I can. I will read all the books, I will do what I need too. I am trying my best."

"I know you are. I just... If you can't be what I need. I will have to find someone who can."

I stared at him, shocked at his words. I didn't understand the change in him that made him choose this path.

"Do you understand what I am saying?"

"Yes." I looked up at him. Keeping my voice steady. " Please send me all the books about being Luna and about the ruby wolf. I'd also like a separate room to study in."

"You can study in here."

"No."

"No?" He raised his eyebrows at me.

"No I need silence. I don't want to be bothered. If people have to come in here they will disturb me."

"Disturb you? You will be the Luna. You need to get use to getting disturbed."

"Might. I might be the Luna. I need quiet."

"Fine."

I took the books and left, heading to our room.

"Luna, Alpha sent me to show you to your study." Eric said as he walked up to me.

"Of course. Thank you." I said following him.

"He also let me know to tell you that everything you requested will be brought to you within the hour."

"Thank you."

We headed back down the hall towards Blakes Office. I sighed.

"Your study is five doors down from the Alpha. He is also having the room next to his renovated to become your Office. But for now this room should be useable. The maids were sent to clean it up." He said, the cleaning cart was sitting out in front of the door as we approached.

The rooms was nice. The window had a cushioned sitting area, there was a small desk on one side with a table and a couple chairs on the other. The center had a small sitting area, a couch with two chairs and a coffee table in the middle. There was a shelf built into the wall behind the desk with a few books placed on the lower shelf. The wall next to the tale had two more shelves with a few books and a few decorative items littering the shelves.

"There is also a bathroom through the door there." He said pointing to a door in the corner.

"Is their bathrooms in all the rooms?"

"Not all. But the rooms that are used as office spaces do. So the six office rooms we have on this floor has a bathroom with it."

"Oh okay."

The maids were hurrying about trying to get things cleaned up for me.

"Thank you, Eric, Please have the items that will be brought to me set on the coffee table. I will take care of getting them put away on my own. You may go now."

"Of course. Thank you Luna." He said as he bowed. Once he was gone I addressed the staff in the room. "Ladies, when you are finished getting everything ready please let me know. No need to rush and please add a couple of pillows and a blanket or two on the window seat. Also feel free to open the windows and drapes to get some air and sunlight in here. I don't mind."

"Of course Luna, Thank you very much." Janice said.

"I will be in my room if any of you needs anything or has any questions for me. Also when you are finished treat yourself to a treat from the kitchen. I'll let the Alpha know to let the cook know."

"Thank you Luna."

"Thank you for all your hard work."

They all bowed to me before I turned and left the room, heading to Blake's office.

I knocked and stepped into the room. "Please let the cook know that the staff that is cleaning up the room for me can have a treat. They deserve it."

"Why? Its their job. They decided to work here."

"Just because someone is hired to do something doesn't mean they can't be shown that they are appreciated."

"Whatever. I'll tell them to make them a pie or something."

"Thank you." I said turning to leave.

"You can't give a treat to everyone you know. You can't bribe them to like you."

I turned to look at him. "Just because I want to show them that I appreciate them doesn't mean I am bribing them to like me."

He looked up at me with a raised eyebrow.

"Fuck off. Stop being a fucking asshole. Stay away from me until you are back to your normal self. And if this is your normal self I don't want to be with you." I said before walking out and letting the door slam behind me.

I headed for the bedroom to gather a few items up. I was going to be staying in my study for a while and not in here with him. When I entered the room I saw that the maid had come through. Everything was neat and clean, bed made and all of the dirty clothing was out of the hamper.

I headed for the closet and grabbed a few different clothing and under garments to keep with me.

I understand he is busy and worried about a lot of things, but being a dick isn't the way to go. Like I don't understand what the hell is going on with him. It was within seconds that he changed.

"What are you doing?" He asked from behind me. Startling me out of my thoughts. "Are you trying to Leave?"

"No." I said as I stuck the clothing in my bag.

"Then why are you packing?"

"I am going to put this in my study."

"Why?"

"Because I want to."

"if you want to leave ill have them take you to the house."

"I want the old you back. Not this version. You changed with in seconds during our conversation and I don't like it. I will be in my study until you are back to your normal self."

"I will sleep on the couch in my office. You stay in here. There isn't a bed in your study." He said before turning around and leaving.

I shook my head. I was so confused about what happened with him.

After I grabbed everything I needed I headed back to the study.

As I got closer to the door, I heard Janice's voice coming from the room. "Alpha, The Luna will be back any minute. I already sent someone to get her."

"Then go back to my office and wait for me." Blake said.

"I'm sorry Alpha. I can not do that." She answered.

"I could command you."

"You could command her. Or you can leave the poor girl alone instead." I said as I stepped into the room.

He sighed and turned towards me.

"Janice, you may leave." I said.

"Thank you Luna." she said as she hurried out.

"Always ruining my fun."

"I don't know what is wrong with you, but I will not stay with someone who is going to cheat."

He rolled his eyes at me and stepped closer. "Have your things packed as soon as you can. I am sending you to your moms house."

"Seriously? What the hell is wrong with you?"

"I don't want you here."

"Fine. I will leave, but as soon as you are back to normal. Come get me. Until then, stay away."

"I don't want you to be my Luna. That is why I am sending you away."

"Fine." I said, turning around and walking out.

Jeb was coming down the hall with a stack of books. "This is everything about you, Luna."

"I am not the Luna anymore. He doesn't want me."

"What?"

"I don't know what happened or why he changed so quickly within our conversation. But I will not be with him when he is acting this way."

"Luna, I am not sure what you are meaning."

"I am being sent to my mothers house. Please send those books with me. Id like to read all of them."

"Of course Luna."

"Also, I will be packing up a few of my things. Please have all of my other things sent to me."

"Of course Luna."

"I would like to leave tonight. Please have a vehicle waiting for me within an hour."

"I will personally take you."

"Thank you."
