Chapter 13
"She's still asleep. She'll wake up screaming in pain before passing back out."
"Her body is trying to reject the blood." My uncle said.
"We need to call the doctor and see what the best option is right now." My mother said.
"Yes. Maybe she just needs constant blood flow." My father took out his phone, walking out of the room.
"She will be fine. She is a fighter." Caleb said. His words helped. He knew she would make it. But at what cost?
I headed back up to my room. I quietly shut the door behind me and turned around.
I looked to the empty bed. Wait? Empty?
"Ariel." I called. I headed into the kitchen, she wasn't in there.
"Ariel." I continued to call. I headed into the bathroom. She wasn't there. But there was a puddle of blood that wasn't there before, in the middle of the floor.
I headed for the stairs. When I got to the bottom of the stairs there was a large crash that came from the east side of the house. Where the blood supply was kept.
As I got there so did everyone else.
"Rose?" Christine asked worried.
"No. Its Ariel."
"What?" My father questioned.
"She wasn't upstairs when I got up there." As I turned the knob to open the door another large crash came from the room.
The sight before us had my mother gasping and my sisters gagging.
Ariel laid in a puddle of blood, one of our human donors laid on the floor.
"Check if she's alive." My father rushed into the room.
Ariel looked over at us. Her teeth extended and her eyes crimson red.
She was covered in blood.
My father looked at me as he stood over the girl. "She's still alive. Barely.
Get her to the safe room." He said to my sisters.
She backed up into a corner as I walked towards her. "Ar, its me. Its Damien."
Her eyes flared as she leaped towards me. I wasn't expecting the attack, and fell back, with her on top.
She began to attack me as I tried to restrain her.
Caleb and Grayson grabbed her. Pulling her off of me.
"Take her to the cell."
"Damien, we need to get her back." My mother said, grabbing me arm.
"Right now we need to make sure everyone is safe. She needs to be locked up until we can find a way to save her."
"Doc is on his way. He doesn't know what is going on with her. But she's going to be okay. Her humanity isn't gone. Or she would have killed the girl. But we need to be prepared if her humanity is slipping. Damien, you need to be prepared."
I looked over at my father. His words barely registered. I knew I needed to prepare myself.
I headed for the cells. Caleb and Grayson sat near the entrance, they both stood when I walked in.
"She passed out. We were going to give her a small amount of silver if she became violent again." Grayson said.
"No. Silver is not something that needs to be used. She's too weak as it is."
"Weak? She threw me against the wall. We barley had time to close the cell." Caleb said.
"No. No silver." I looked at her. She was passed out on the ground of the cell. "You didnt put her on the bed after she passed out?"
"No. We were not going into that cell with her."
I rolled my eyes and headed for the cell. "Open the cell and close it behind me."
They did as I said. I carefully bent down and picked her up. I walked over to the bed in the corner and sat down. I held her in my arms and kissed her head.
Grayson and Caleb had left after closing the door behind me.
"Ar, what is happening with you right now."
"This is the side effects to the way she died." Alpha Krane said.
I looked up at him. He was leaned against the table, a young woman stood next to him.
"Emma, can you do anything for her?" He said to the woman.
"I can try. But sometimes my magic isn't enough to fix these types of transitions."
"We owe her at least trying." He said.
"The panel next to the door. That unlocks the cells. It also opens the doors if you don't want to do it manually." I said, I wasn't leaving her.
The witch came in and placed her hand on Ariels head. Her body began to convulse in my arms.
Her screams rang out through the room.
Her eyes opened and flashed a bright vibrant blue before going back to the crimson red.
Her body continued to convulse. It went on for hours before she settled. Emma removed her hand and stepped back.
"She should be okay. If she wakes up and she's still the same. Then she's most likely lost. I'd still recommend her being checked by Doc."
"Thank you. I'm gonna take her back to our room then."
"I would leave her here until we know she's back. If not. She could kill someone." Alpha Krane said as he pushed himself off the desk.
I looked down at her before laying her on the bed. I covered her and walked out of the cell. Closing it behind me.
"Do you really think he will kill her if she wakes up with no humanity. Her soul basically gone. He will never do it. If she comes back like that he will do anything to get her back. He will keep her locked up until she either gets out or he finally gives up." Graysons voice carried out into the hall. I stood outside the door of the kitchen.
"That's not true. She will be fine. No matter what happens. Whether she comes back herself or not. Both paths are strong. There is a 50/50 chance. Its all up to her right now. Whether she will fight to keep herself or let the darkness take over." Caleb said.
"What have you seen? If she let's the darkness take over what happens?" Mother asked.
"He will kill her. And then he will leave. Search for Rose. They both will die. Damien will kill Rose." Calebs words were left by silence.
"How does he die?" Abigail asked. Breaking the silence.
"He drains a lowlife human." Caleb said. He left out what we all knew. I would go to the highest peak and stand there waiting for the sun.
"No. She will live. She's strong. She'll be leaving my father and I. She wouldn't do that to us." Jake said.
"Damien wouldn't leave us like that. He wouldn't turn his back on us." Jasil said.
"He will never be the same. They haven't even mated yet. That alone is going to destroy him. He will not survive her death. No matter if he decides to kill himself or not. But deathe will be the best option for him right now." Father said.
There was silence before Mother spoke. "What ever happens. We will stand by any decision he makes. That's what he will need. No matter if we agree or not. He will need support."
I went to walk in, but very faintly heard my name. I stood there, listening, waiting for it to come again. I left the door to the cells opened. So I could hear when she woke. But the faint call of my name never returned. I headed into the kitchen.
"How is she?" Jake asked as soon as he saw me.
"She's sleeping. Alpha Kranes witch, Emma, did what she could. She believes she will be okay. That's what we are hoping for right now."
"Did you put her back into your room?" Grayson asked.
"No. I laid her on the bed in the cell. Locking her in. If she wakes up the same, she won't be able to hurt anyone."
Everyone watched me. I knew what they were waiting on. They were wanting to know what I would do if she woke up the same.
I turned and walked out of the room. I was halfway up the first flight of stairs when I heard my name being called again. This time louder.
I stopped and tried to figure out where the sound came from. When I heard it again I rushed down to the cells.
Ariel was sat up, leaned against the wall. Her knees were up to her chest with her head in her hands.
Her shoulders shook as her soft cries echoed in the room.
"Ariel?" I was hesitant as I made my way over to her cell.
She looked up at me. Her eyes were strange, making me step back a step. One eye was crimson red while the other was her normal beautiful blue.
"It wasn't just a bad dream was it?" She asked her voice barely a whisper.
I stood there silently. Waiting for her to finish. I didnt want to confirm anything before I knew what she meant.
"Did I kill that girl?" She asked.
My eyes shot to hers. "No."
"I attacked you." She stated.
"Yes."
"And caleb. I threw him against the wall."
"Yes."
"I don't feel well."
"How do you feel?"
"My stomach keeps turning. I feel as though I am going to vomit but can't. My head hurts. I keep getting these urges to hurt people. To kill."
"That's the dark part of you. The monster. Wanting to be free. This part of vampirism is the worst. When turned you have to fight the dark part of yourself. To either keep your humanity or lose it. Because of how you were turned, the violence of it, made your battle the hardest. Right now you are fighting for your life. If you lose your humanity, you will be killed."
"I'll die? If I have no humanity it'll kill me?" The fear in her eyes broke me. Because what I had to say next was going to break her.
"If you lose your humanity, you will be a monster. You will have no soul. You will be lost. You will kill and you will hurt the people you love." I took a second to study her as she listened. Silent tears rolling down her cheeks. "I will not let you hurt anyone if that happens. I will be the one to end your life if you become a monster."
She nodded her head as she cried harder. Understanding.
"I love you. But I will not let you or anyone else suffer if you let the darkness take over. If you lose the battle within yourself. I will not let it happen."
"I'm hungry." She said.
"I'll go get you something to eat." I turned to leave when her voice stopped me. "Can I come out?"
"Its not a good idea." I turned back to her.
"Please. So I can clean up. Im sticky and I smell."
"Its not safe for you to be free."
"Even if you're there?" She gave me her puppy dog eyes. Begging me.
"Let me get you some food first. Then after you have eaten, I'll have emma come down and check you. She will be able to know if you are able to be free or not. If not I'll bring in some water and help you wash up that way. With some fresh clothing." I walked over to the cell.
She had walked up to the cell door as I spoke. I smiled down at her as I brushed my hand down her cheek. She reached her hand through the bars and gripped my shirt.
I leaned down and placed my lips on hers. The feeling was incredible. After so long. My hands went up into her hair as I deepened the kiss.
I pulled away at the sound of someone clearing their throat.
I turned to see my mother standing by the desk.
"I came down to make sure she was doing okay. Its nice to see her awake. Is there anything I can do?"
I smiled at my mother. "Can you make her something to eat. Something light. And bring a glass of O Negative down for her as well."
"Of course." She smiled before leaving.
Ariel pulled at my shirt. "I want to mate with you, now."
"Ar, this isn't something to be done right now. Not in here."
"Mating will help her, it'll make her stronger." My father said behind me.
I turned to see him and mother standing by the desk. Mom set a tray down with some fruit and a cup.
"You will eat and then we will talk." I said as my parents left.
I brought the tray to her before grabbing a chair to sit in front of her cell.
Once she was finished I called up to my father. Asking him to have Alpha Krane bring Emma down.
Doc was among them, when they came through the doorway.
"Hello, Damien." He greeted.
"Hello, Doc." I looked at Emma. "Can you make sure its safe for people to be in the cell with her."
"Yes." She came over to the cell.
"Alpha Krane, the door please. Before we open the cell." I said, walking over to the switches on the wall.
He shut the main door and the sound of it locking into place filled the silent room.
"Ariel, can you come to the door please." Emma said as she reached her hands through the door.
Slowly Ar stood and made her way over. Emma placed her hands on either side of her head.
"She's fine for now." Emma said as she pulled away.
I flipped the switch and let the cell door open. Doc began to head over to the cell when Ariel disappeared.
"Ariel." I called before she was suddenly throwing herself at me, almost knocking us onto the floor.
She had leaped up at me. Wrapping her arms around my neck. I smiled wrapping my arms around her.
"She can teleport...." Emmas eyes were wide as I looked at her. Her words bringing me out of the warmth of Ariel in my arms.
"She's more dangerous than I thought she could be."
"Hey. Let's let Doc give you a vampire check up." I said to her. Setting her on her feet.
She nodded before turning to the doctor.

After the blood was cleaned up off the floor in the bathroom, I turned the shower on.
I walked back out into the room. She was still sitting on the couch.
"Come on let's go get you washed up before you get in a bath." I said holding my hand out to her.
"Mm." She said as she took my hand.
"Those clothes will not survive. The blood isn't going to come out of those clothes. We will go buy you more clothing later on."
"I have enough clothing." She spoke softly as we walked into the closet.
I pulled her into the bathroom and shut the door.
"Let's get these clothes off of you." I said, before I carefully pulled her shirt up and off of her.
Her hair was matted to her head from the blood.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked her. She was quiet, stiff.
"I'm just trying to figure out why my head hurts so bad."
"To much information gained in one day." I gave a small chuckle. Trying to lighten the mood. Her head hurting wasn't a good sign.
"Let's get you into the shower." I said as I pulled the last piece of fabric off her.
I pulled my shirt off, leaving me in the shorts I put on before cleaning the blood up.
I stepped in the shower behind her. She stepped into the stream of water, her back to me.
When I began to clean the blood off her body, she turned to me, watching me.
I just continued to scrub at the blood.
"I'd say you didnt find me attractive, but your body is telling me something different."
I gave her a smile before turning her around to wash the blood out of her hair.
"You're gonna have a bath after I'm done getting you clean."
"What will you do?" She asked she kept running her hands down my abdomen.
Ignoring her question, I grabbed the shower handle and pulled it from the wall, rinsing her hair out.
"Stay In here under the water until I get the bath ready for you." I said stepping out.
Once I got the bath ready I looked over to her. She stepped out and made her way over to me.
As much as I wanted to take her into the other room to ravish every inch of her body, I resisted and helped her into the tub.
"I'll be right back." I said, before walking out.
I changed into some jeans and a T-shirt.
Her head was back, eyes closed, as she relaxed in the water.
I knew every part of her body was screaming. She was a brand new vampire. Her senses were going to be everywhere.
"How are you feeling?"
"Relaxed." She spoke so softly, her eyes still closed.
I gave a smile before grabbing the chair by the door.
"Are you just going to sit there and watch me?" She asked.
"We don't need you going crazy again. Better safe than sorry."
We sat in silence for a bit before she broke the silence.
"Will you mate with me?"
I sat silently watching her. Before she opened her eyes looking to me for an answer.
"I'll mate with you. Under one condition."
"Whats that?" She smirked.
"Marry me, Ariel."
Her breath caught in her throat as she took in my words.
"No ring?" Her expression was serious, her eyes playful.
I stood and left the room. Going to the secret safe I had in my closet.
I can back a few minutes later and went down on one knee in front of the tub.
"Will you marry me, Ariel?" I asked opening the box to show the unique ring I had made for her.
She smiled and stepped out of the bathtub, wrapping her towel around her body. "Yes."
I smiled at her as she walked over to me. "I designed it for you. A rose with a sapphire in the middle. The band is silver. With our initials graved into the inside."
"Doesn't silver hurt us?"
"Liquid silver, only if in our bodies. Our blood stream."
"Oh." She looked down at the ring as I pulled it out and slipped it onto her finger.
Her eyes sparkled as she looked at me. Both of them were her normal blue.
"Your eyes, their back to you." I traced my thumb down her cheek. Before cupping her face. She tipped her head up to me. Slowly I leaned down and kissed her. Savoring in her sweet taste.
