Chapter 11
"Damien, it takes time. Shes different then others. Her transition could take longer. Turning her wasnt normal. You had to be quick before her heart fully stopped." My father said placing his hand on my shoulder.
"Has anyone located Rose yet?" I stood to face him.
"No. She disappeared. But we will find her Damien."
"Im going to go down and get some air. Maybe go hunt." I spoke leaving the room before he could speak much more.
I blame myself. I shouldnt, she shouldnt have been. This shouldnt have happened God damn it!
I slammed the door shut as I left.
KAMERANS P.O.V.
Ariel laid lifeless in Damiens bed. I felt pain for my son. Grayson is the only one who can understand what he is going through.
A hand laid on my shoulder made me turn.
My wife looked up at me with a sad smile.
"If she was dead, she would be decomposing. She isnt dead. She just needs time." She spoke softly.
"I know. Damien just cant seem to focus on that."
"Shes his mate. Accepted or not."
"The plan was great. It should have worked."
"No one could have known that she had tasted his blood."
"He did. He knew."
"Not if she erased his memories of it. Shes a Siren. They can do things that no other being can."
"I know. You dont hear the thoughts that run through his head, Angie. He blames himself. She has to wake up."
"She will. Have faith." She cupped my face with both her hands, leaning up and kissing me."Now. Let's go get ready for when she does wake up."
She led me out of the room and down to the kitchen.
DAMIENS P.O.V
When I walked into the house I was bombarded by my Uncle.
"What." I grumbled.
"Come with me. You need to see something." He led me to his old room.
We entered and he headed to the far end of the room and ripped down a painting. Behind it were tally marks.
"I tallied every day I lost Abigail."
"You drank most of the time. Until the years began to build." I snapped.
"But I broke down every night. Blaming myself. And I tallied everyday. Damien she will wake up. This isnt like Abigail. This isnt a spell. She is transitioning. Her changing was a violent one. Her death was violent. It wasnt just a neck snap. It wasnt a quick death. Her body needs to regenerate." Grayson came and stood in front of me.
"I was right there. I shouldnt have let her be that close to Rose. This shouldnt be happening. We never discussed if she wanted this life. If she even wanted to become a vampire. If she comes too and hates me for it. She hasnt accepted me. She hasnt even rejected me. What the hell am I going to do if she hates me?" I hung my head as Grayson walked over to his bar.
"Damien, what will happen will happen. You just need to be patient. We will all help you through this." He came back over with 2 glasses of brandy. Holding one out to me.
"We told her father. He knows now. Shes not going to be happy about that. Hes always here now. He wants to be one too. He left Victoria. Shes going to wake up and months of her life have gone by. Alot in her life has changed. It's my fault. I should have still been cautious." I said, reluctantly taking it from him.
"Damien. Enough. Blaming yourself will never help. You have to keep moving forward. Help everyone get ready for when she wakes. Her body is going to be different. She will feel lighter. Her senses, vision, everything. You need to help make this process more bearable. If she decides not to feed. She will die. There are many outcomes that you need to prepare yourself for."
I just stared at my uncle. He was correct in everything. We would have to help her. Prepare her. Tutor her. If she decides to leave, to die. I was so lost in the painful truth of her waking that I didnt realize I crushed the glass of brandy in my hand until I felt it.
"Go get yourself cleaned up."
I nodded and walked out.
