Chapter 3
Chapter 3 The CEO of AMC
Upon hearing this, Gwyneth tightened her grip on her champagne glass and narrowed her eyes slightly. “Judy, what do you mean by that?”
*Sis, what could I possibly mean? I just think it’s not appropriate for you to come to this event with the Luther name, considering you and
the Luthers have no ties anymore.”
The attendees at the event were all prominent figures in Appletown. The sudden marriage between the Luther and Glenn families three years ago was still fresh in everyone’s minds. Little did they expect that this couple’s divorce would be just as sudden and without any
warning.
Originally, these onlookers were speculating about Liam and Gwyneth’s impending divorce, but the second daughter of the Glenn family’s
remark was like a nail in the coffin, putting all the divorce rumors to rest: Liam and Gwyneth were divorced.
“Judy Glen isn’t wrong.” someone said. “Gwyneth Glen is already divorced from Liam Luther. Does she still want to ride on the coattails of
the Luther family’s name?”
“Clearly, she hasn’t had enough in these three years. Look at how successful the Glen Corporation has been during that time.”
The murmur of gossip reached Gwyneth’s ears, but her expression remained unchanged. She found it more amusing than anything else. especially when she looked at Judy’s smug face.
A short distance away. Liam stood with his lips pressed tightly together, his gaze deep and intense. He had heard the whispers, but he was more curious about how the woman who had kept him guessing for three years would handle the situation now.
“What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong, sis?” Seeing Gwyneth’s silence. Judy thought she had hit a nerve and became even more pleased with herself. “Or is it that you’re still so heartbroken over the divorce with Mr. Luther that you want to end it all with your own life…” Judy crossed her arms and became more and more animated as she spoke.
Judy looked at Gwyneth’s delicate face and thought of her as Liam’s ex–wife. All the resentment she had built up suddenly erupted in this
moment.
But before she could finish her sentence, a second later, a glass of ice–cold champagne was poured over her face. The bustling banquet hall fell silent, and Gwyneth could hear gasps of shock from the crowd around her. In that moment, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of
satisfaction.
Liam stood silently at the side. His eyes grew even more inscrutable as he watched the scene, no one could tell what he was thinking.
Meanwhile, Judy was screaming, frantically wiping the champagne from her face with a napkin, her once–perfectly styled hair now damp
and disheveled.
“Gwyneth! Are you out of your mind? What the hell is wrong with you?” Judy never expected that the typically docile Gwyneth would
publicly humiliate her in such a manner.
“Sis, your words are pretty foul. Fortunately, alcohol has a cooling and disinfecting effect. You’re welcome.”
Gwyneth’s light chuckle only made Judy more furious, causing her entire body to tremble. “You bitch! How dare you!” She pointed a quivering finger in Gwyneth’s direction. “Security! Where’s security?!”
The security guard, who had been standing in the corner, immediately rushed over upon hearing the commotion. The people who had been chatting earlier also turned their attention to the commotion.
Judy was still seething with anger as she ranted inwardly, ‘I spent hours getting ready today, especially because I knew Liam would be here. And now, thanks to that bitch Gwyneth, I look like a hot mess!” She couldn’t bear the thought of Liam seeing her in such a disheveled state, so she yelled again, “Security!”
Gwyneth watched as Judy made a fool of herself, raising her eyebrows in amusement. She couldn’t believe that her little sister was still so foolish after all these years.
“Can I help you with something. Ms. Glen?” The security guard rushed to greet Judy while stealing glances at Gwyneth from time to time.
Judy’s accusatory finger pointed directly at Gwyneth as she spoke in a quivering voice, “Is this how you people work? Letting anyone and everyone in? Get her out of here, now!”
The security guard’s attitude changed as soon as he turned to face Gwyneth, and he responded with disdain, “Please leave, Miss.”
Gwyneth sneered.
“I’ll give you a chance, Gwyneth. If you kneel down and beg me. I’ll let you stay,” Judy said, her head held high. But to Gwyneth’s eyes, she looked like a withered chicken meal, useless and unimpressive.
“Are you sure?” Gwyneth replied.
*Please follow us, Miss,” the security guard interjected, worried that the situation might escalate. Judy was getting impatient beside him.
Onlookers started to gather around.
“Who are those two ladies?” someone inquired.
“The one on the right is a Glen family’s daughter, and I’m not sure about the other one. I can’t believe anyone can just waltz in here. She must have snuck in,” another guest interjected.
*The event organizer is so incompetent. We’re supposed to be the cream of the crop, and yet we’re forced to share the same space with someone so low–class. My new dress probably smells now,” said another guest. “Security, hurry up and kick her out!”
“Sis, can’t you see that everyone is telling you to get out?” Judy taunted, waiting for Gwyneth to beg her for mercy.
“Is that so?” Gwyneth sneered, her gaze sharpening to a degree Judy had never seen before.
In the next moment, the lights above the stage in the banquet hall suddenly came on, shining down on Gwyneth. For an instant, she looked like a divine descending to earth.
“Please welcome the main representative of our acquisition meeting, the CEO of AMC–Gwyneth Glen!”
“What?! Gwyneth is the CEO of AMC!‘ Judy’s eyes widened in shock. Her previous smugness shattered in the face of everyone’s astonished looks, leaving her pale and bloodless.
“My dear sister, the surprises are far from over,” Gwyneth said softly, before swiftly changing her expression to a sharp and resolute one.
Gwyneth remained composed as she took the stage under the watchful eyes of the guests. She held the microphone and surveyed the crowd, catching the pale face of those who had just told her to leave. Her voice was clear and confident as she addressed everyone.” Welcome to this banquet, thank you all for your patience. Some guests have expressed concerns about sharing the same space with me. the CEO of AMC, as it would taint the air they breathe. I won’t hold them back. Security, please escort them out. As for Judy Glen…”
“Gwyneth, how dare you!” Judy snarled.
“Please escort her out,” Gwyneth calmly instructed. Several security personnel escorted Judy out of the banquet, and no one in attendance raised any objections.
In the ensuing silence, Judy’s cries of protest were particularly audible. “You’ll pay for this, Gwyneth!”
