The Making of a Dark Gamma - Book 1

Chapter The Benefactor

The Benefactor sits back in their chair smiling, intertwining his fingers he nods to himself, Alpha Vincent was so easy to control it was almost too easy, the initial contact, allowing him to negotiate up the price of each kill, was just child’s play, giving him the illusion of being in charge

Like letting a dog run on an extremely long lead, he let Vincent believe he was free to make his own decisions until it suited him to bring him to heel, when this pathetic Alpha felt the lead go taut, it was already too late for him to find a way to escape.

For now, he was content to let this bully have control, a scapegoat if he ever needed it, in time that would change, when he moved to take the power.

He gets up and walks to the window, gazing out into the dark forest, it’s quiet here, no one comes out this far, he feels safe no-one to overhear him when he talks to people, it’s not just Alpha Vincent, he is one of a few under his control.

Gradually, he’s expanding his influence, his plans are coming together, slowly, but surely.

In his little home from home, no one would assume he would be looking to take control in this way, not just of the werewolves, his plans are bigger, much bigger, so why shouldn’t he rule over the humans as well, they were weaker, slower more malleable, easier to control as long as the vampires didn’t get involved.

They were a whole different problem, but if he controlled the humans, then he would have control of the vampires indirectly since they were the primary food source for them.

He grins, he had to find out about the Vampire sires, it’s rumoured they are getting weaker, which is why they were no longer visible, they had sired no new Generals in centuries, not that he had heard about anyway, but it’s something he needs to look into, making assumptions is for the foolish and he is anything but.

If needed, he could persuade them to leave, so he could rule the whole of the continent, now that would be true power.

Eventually, he’ll have that Gamma under his direct control, she will be feared and revered, one with a whole continent to roam within, doing his biding directly, maybe he’d even allow her to carry his bastard children, what an army they’d make together, her ability, his ruthlessness, she was a tad plain, but good enough to be his mistress.

The more he thinks about it, the more he realises it’s not a good idea if she were pregnant, she couldn’t exactly lead the enforcers, and he needed to find other she-wolves, but once he’s in power, they will flock to him, he won’t say no, the strongest of his pups will be trained by the Gamma, now that’s a better idea.

He looks down at his map, he’s neutralised the Nightshade pack, Vincent is no more than a puppet leader now, doing his bidding, the Iron Claw are next, he needs a way into that pack, their Alpha is too strong and wiley to trick, not power hungry like his other puppets and not greedy like Vincent.

Sighing, he’d prefer not to have to fight them but subdue them via other methods, but if needed, he would wipe the pack out, not like it hadn’t been done before, eventually, when he had seventy per cent compliance from the packs, he’d make his move, it would take five more years before he was close to making his move, but he would get there.

Sitting back down, he logs onto his computer, setting up two payments for this time in seven days, one going to Vincent’s account, the other into an account he’d set up for the Gamma, she may not know about it, but if things go awry, this is his ace in the hole, she will appear as guilty as Vincent if this account is found.

Oh yes, he needed to create a control point over her for now, she will fight against his control when the time comes, but when he shows her all the incriminating evidence, she’ll swear allegiance to him, one way or another.

One thing the Benefactor is sure of, you have to plan for every eventuality, worst case, if something happens to her, he’ll take the money back since he’s the only one who knows the account exists, but for now, it’s his insurance policy, his leverage over her, after all, who will believe that she doesn’t know about an account that is in her name and has payments for every kill made, even those Vincent orders.

An evil grin takes over his face, and he gets that warm satisfied feeling, everything just keeps falling into place for him, this has been a good day, but now, he needs to head back, and become the person that others see.
