The Maiden and The Four Waters

Crowe, Exel and Melana stood on the wooden jetty’s edge.

Exel held the candlelight as he reached it forward towards the water, Crowe and Melana struggled to see any further than the surface.

The two women shared a look, Exel sensed he knew that look.

“No, no. I’m not going in there. Have you seen what takes men. I’d be taken and never to be seen again, If I go in there.”

The two women looked up at Exel.

“We need Walla, do you have another suggestion?” Melana didn’t fault her words.

Exel sighed “No but why me? Why not you?”

“Exel, you know why. Melana and I will be right here.” Crowe began.
