The Magic of Aurelian

Chapter 18: Epilogue

Eleonor

Nearly four months had passed since our trip, and even though I had said 'yes' to Kiran, we still had several long discussions about what it really meant to be his wife and Queen. He calmed all of my fears, and now, I felt comfortable enough to only be slightly nervous about everything instead of completely terrified. We continued the next session of classes at the academy, which has helped me learn more about everything, and we've decided to complete our course of study before taking the throne.

This time, Kiran and I were allowed to stay together and had rented a small cottage in the city. Aria and Sylvie returned to the academy as well. They nearly choked on their own air when they found out Kiran and I were to be married. I wasn't one to take joy in the pain of others, but after the treatment I had received from them, it felt good to prove them wrong about my capabilities and worth.

Our wedding was scheduled for tomorrow, and I was more excited than nervous about that part. It was surreal that I was going to marry the man I fell in love with and that it didn't matter who either one of us had been born, just that we were in love.

"Staring at your dress again?" I was staying the night with Solara in our cottage, but I suppose now that I was moving to the castle, it would just be her cottage.

"I can't help it, I still can't believe this is all happening. Looking at the dress lets me know this is all real."

"I can't say I blame you, it is hard to believe that my cousin will soon be my Queen. I'll be your most loyal subject, of course."

"You're much more than that, Solara. After Kiran, you're my closest confidant…my best friend, my sister."

"Stop, you'll make me cry. I'd hate to be all puffy for your wedding tomorrow."

"Like you don't have a magical remedy for that?"

"That's true, but magic only helps so much." She laughed, and we hugged each other before heading off to sleep.

The next morning was peaceful chaos as my mother and Aunt Jacinta ran around getting everything ready. Solara, as usual, handled hair and makeup, Aunt Jacinta handled breakfast, and my mother made sure everything else was ready. I had chosen gold and yellow for the dresses, and everyone looked beautiful in their different shades of yellow while I wore gold. Once we finished getting ready, my father and Gabriel arrived to whisk us off in a carriage, and before I knew it, we had all arrived at the castle.

"I'm happy for you, Eleanor. You'll make a wonderful Queen. Is this everything you wished for?" Gabriel gave me one last pep talk before I met with Kiran.

"It's so much more. That wishing well really worked its magic."

"Well, maybe some of your magic will rub off on me. Your Prince awaits, so I'll leave you to it." I watched as Gabriel headed inside, and mingled with the guests. We had invited everyone we met while on tour, and my brother just so happened to sit by a familiar red-headed Fire Fairy. They smiled at each other, and I couldn't help but think that maybe he did get some of the love magic after all.

"We're so proud of you Eleanor. You make a beautiful bride." My mother dabbed at her tears and my parents hugged me one last time before making their way inside.

"Eleonor, you look…" Kiran arrived and took his first look at me. It was nice to leave him speechless. "I feel like the luckiest person alive right now."

"I can say the same." He picked up my hand and brushed a kiss on my knuckles. "Are those…" I followed his gaze as he pointed at my feet, "the shoes?"

I giggled, and stuck out my foot from beneath my dress so he could see better. "My diamond slippers. They brought us together, so I figured it would bring us even more luck if I wore them today." He chuckled along with me before taking my hand in his again.

"Let's go get married then." He tucked my arm in his, and we walked through the doors of the room, walking to our happily ever after.

The End.
