The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 9

The sun peeked through the small window of the old, abandoned cabin where Ava and I spent the night. I stretched, feeling the warmth on my face, and took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh morning air. "Good morning, Emily," Ava yawned, rubbing her eyes.

Don't mind me, I have told her that my name was Emily. As I said earlier, I prefer to be safe than sorry.

"Good morning, Ava," I said, smiling at her.

We packed our bags and stepped outside, ready to start the day. As we walked towards the village, we saw a group of villagers gathered around, curiously looking at us. "Don't worry," Ava reassured me. "They're just curious. They'll warm up to us soon enough."

As we approached the village square, a man with a friendly smile stepped forward.

"Welcome to our village," he said, extending his hand. "My name is Peter."

"Hi, Peter," I said, shaking his hand. "I'm Emily, and this is Ava."

Peter introduced us to the other villagers, and we spent the day getting to know them. They showed us around the village, pointing out the different shops and landmarks. "So, what brings you to our village?" Peter asked.

"We're just travelers," Ava replied. "We're looking for a new place to call home."

Peter nodded, understandingly. "Well, you're in luck. Our village is always looking for new residents. We have plenty of space, and everyone here is like family."

As we walked through the village, we struck up several conversations with the locals.

"You both look tired," an elderly man said. "Here, take these flowers. They'll brighten up your day."

"Thank you," I said, smiling at his kindness.

We continued walking through the village, admiring the colorful buildings and lush gardens.

"This is the blacksmith's shop," a woman said, gesturing towards a small building. "He makes the best swords and shields in all the land."

As the day went on, we were invited to join the villagers for lunch. They had prepared a feast of roasted meats, fresh vegetables, and sweet fruits.

"This is amazing," Ava said, savoring a bite of juicy watermelon.

"I know," I said, smiling. "I think we might have found our new home.""

As night fell, the villagers invited us to a feast in our honor. They had cooked a variety of dishes, and everyone was laughing and talking.

"This is incredible," I said, admiring the beautiful decorations.

"We're glad you're enjoying it," Peter said, grinning.

As the night went on, the villagers kept asking us questions about our past. I was hesitant at first, but Ava encouraged me to open up.

"So, where are you from?" a young woman asked.

"We're from a small town not far from here," Ava replied.

"But we've been traveling for a while now," I added.

As we spoke, the villagers listened intently, nodding and offering words of encouragement. And for the first time in a long time, I felt like I had found a place where I belonged.

But as the night went on, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. I noticed a group of men in the distance, watching us with suspicion.

"Ava, look," I whispered, pointing them out.

Ava's eyes narrowed. "We have to be careful," she said, grabbing my hand.

As we tried to slip away, we were stopped by one of the men.

"Who are you?" he asked, his voice harsh.

"We're just travelers," Ava replied calmly. "We mean no harm." She said trying to sound confident.

The man stepped forward, his eyes narrowed. "You're lying," he said. "I've seen you before."

Ava and I exchanged a worried glance. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"I saw you in the capital city," he said, his voice low.

I felt my heart race as the man's words sunk in.

"But that's impossible," Ava said, her brow furrowed. "We've never been to the capital city."

The man didn't seem convinced. He took a step forward, and I could see the anger in his eyes.

"We don't want any trouble," I said, holding up my hands in a gesture of peace.

Just then, Peter stepped forward, his voice calm and authoritative.

"What's going on here?" he asked, his eyes scanning the group.

The man turned to face Peter. "These two are lying," he said. "I saw them in the capital city."

Peter's face remained calm, but I could see the concern in his eyes.

"I assure you, these two are just travelers passing through," Peter said. "They mean no harm to our village."

The man looked like he was about to protest, but Peter's words seemed to have a calming effect on him.

The man eyed us suspiciously before nodding and walking away.

Ava and I breathed a sigh of relief as we watched the man disappear into the night.

"Thank you, Peter," I said, my voice shaking slightly.

Peter smiled. "No need to thank me," he said. "We take care of our own here in the village."

Ava and I exchanged a worried look before continuing on our way.

"That was close," Ava said, her voice shaking slightly.

"Yeah," I agreed. "We have to be careful. Who knows what kind of dangers are out there."

"Something's not right," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

"I know," Ava replied. "Yes we have to be careful. We don't want to cause any trouble."

We spent the rest of the night talking to the villagers, trying to ignore the nagging feeling in the back of our minds. But as we finally went to bed, I couldn't shake the feeling that danger was lurking just around the corner. As we settled into our sleeping bags for the night, Ava let out a sigh.

"I just hope we can live in this village without any trouble," she said.

I nodded in agreement. "Me too. But we have to be careful. We don't know what kind of dangers are out there."

Ava looked up at me with a worried expression. "Do you think we should have told Peter about the man who recognized me?"

I shook my head. "No, I don't want to cause any panic. We'll just have to be extra cautious."

We lay there in silence for a few moments before Ava spoke up again.

"Do you ever wonder if we'll make it out of this alive?" she asked quietly.

I took a deep breath before responding. "Sometimes. But we have to keep moving forward. We can't let fear control us. We have to keep fighting. We can't give up now. We have each other, and we have to keep moving forward." Ava nodded, her eyes filled with determination. "You're right. We have to keep fighting. We can't let fear control us. We'll make it out of this. We just have to stay strong."

I smiled at her, feeling a renewed sense of hope. "Exactly. We'll get through this. We just have to stick together and never give up."

With that, we drifted off to sleep, the sounds of the village around us. But even in my dreams, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled in my stomach.
