The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 78

As soon as Maximus left the room, Kyle shook off the grip of our friends and went straight to me.

"What the hell was that?" he yelled, his eyes flashing with anger.

I just looked at him and shook my head. "I can't believe it, Kyle. I just can't believe it."

"I know, I know," he said, putting an arm around me. "Please, Feli, don't cry."

With a sigh, I leaned into his embrace, letting the tears come. "It's just so much to bear," I told him, my voice cracking.

"I'm sorry," he said softly. "I'm sorry all of this happened to you. But you have to be strong. For your baby."

I nodded, wiping away my tears. "You're right. I have to be strong for my baby." I took a deep breath and looked up at the others. "I guess we have to do what we always do, right?" Adrian gave me a nod. "That's right. We stick together, no matter what."

I managed a small smile. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it."

As the others left the room, Ava came over to me, holding my baby in her arms. "Are you okay?" she asked, worry etched on her face.

I shook my head, tears threatening to spill over again. "I'm not okay. How am I supposed to be okay after everything that's happened?"

Ava sighed, sitting down on the edge of the bed. "I understand, Feli. Believe me, I understand. But you have to keep going. You have to fight back."

"Fight back?" I repeated, my voice hollow. "Against what?"

"Against him," Ava said softly. "Against Maximus."

I shook my head. "I don't know if I can do that. Not after everything we've been through."

"Then what are you going to do?" Ava asked, her eyes searching mine.

"I don't know," I said softly. "I just don't know."

I couldn't believe it. Standing there in that bleak, dingy room, I suddenly remembered the real reason I was in this horrific mess. It had all started with Ava.

"If only you had told me the truth, Ava," I spat, my eyes blazing with anger. "If you had told me that it was Maximus's father who killed my parents, we wouldn't be here right now."

Ava's face crumpled and she burst into tears. But I was beyond caring. She was nothing but a hypocrite to me.

"I can't believe you would hide something like this from me," I went on, my voice rising. "And why? To protect me? You just wanted to save your own skin, didn't you? You slut."

I saw the hurt and betrayal in Ava's eyes, but I couldn't bring myself to care. I had lost all trust in her. The worst part was, I had defended her when she had problems with Kyle, her boyfriend.

"I stood up for you, Ava," I continued, my voice shaking with rage. "And this is how you repay me? By keeping something this important from me? You're a disgrace."

Ava tried to explain herself, but I wouldn't listen. I just shouted her down, tears streaming down her face.

"I'm sorry," Ava sobbed. "I should have told you. But I knew how much you loved Maximus, and I didn't want to hurt you."

I laughed, a harsh, bitter sound.

"This is the third time you've hidden something from me, Ava," I said, my voice cold. "I can't trust you anymore."

Our friends tried to calm me down, but I couldn't stop crying. I had lost not only my parents, but my best friend too. Suddenly, everything in my world seemed to be falling apart. And the worst part was, I was in love with Maximus.

I didn't know how I was going to make it through this. But one thing was certain - I would never forgive Ava for what she had done.

Adrian approached me, I pushed him away, but he insisted telling me that he had to tell me that I had to follow him, I was still angry at him for all his contempt towards me, but I was curious to know what he had to say to me, so I followed him. My heart was heavy as I followed Adrian. I didn't know what to expect from him. We had been friends once, but his actions towards me had caused so much pain.

"I know I messed up with you, and I'm sorry. But I can't help how I feel," Adrian said as we walked down the empty corridor.

"I don't know, Adrian. Things are so complicated right now. I'm still grieving my parents, and I just broke up with Maximus," I replied, unsure of what to say.

"I know, and I'm not trying to push you into anything. But I just had to tell you how I feel," Adrian said, his eyes searching mine.

I sighed, feeling torn. "I appreciate that, Adrian. But I don't know if I'm ready for anything right now. I need time to heal."

Adrian nodded in understanding. "I'll wait for you, as long as it takes. I just want to be there for you."

I couldn't help but feel touched by his words. "Thank you, Adrian. That means a lot to me."

He smiled at me, and before I knew it, he leaned in and kissed me. I kissed him back, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. When we pulled away, I didn't feel the butterflies in my stomach like I did with Maximus. "I stood up for you, Ava," I continued, my voice shaking with rage. "And this is how you repay me? By keeping something this important from me? You're a disgrace."

Adrian must have noticed my hesitation, because he looked at me questioningly. "What's wrong?"

"I don't know, Adrian. I just...I don't feel the same way as I do with Maximus," I admitted, feeling guilty.

Adrian's expression fell, but he nodded in acceptance. "I understand. I just wanted to try."

"I'm sorry," I said, feeling the weight of the situation.

"Don't be. I'll always be here for you, no matter what," Adrian said, giving me a small smile.

"Thank you, Adrian," I said, squeezing his hand. "I appreciate it. And I'm sorry for pushing you away before. I was just hurting."

"It's alright," Adrian said, giving me a small smile. "I'm here for you now, and I always will be."

"Feli you need to know that I've been thinking about you, dreaming about you, wishing I could make things right. I love you, Feli."

I stared at him, unsure how to respond. "Adrian, I appreciate your apology and your offer to be there for me, but I can't just switch my feelings like that."

"I understand, Feli. But please, don't forget about me. I'll be here, waiting for you no matter how long it takes." He smiled at me, and despite the pain in my heart, I felt a glimmer of hope.

"Thank you, Adrian. I forgive you and I appreciate your words. But I need to focus on myself right now. Can we be friends?"

"Of course. I'll always be here for you, no matter what." He took my hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "And who knows, maybe in time we can have something more."

I gave him a small smile. "Maybe."

He pulled me into a hug, and I wrapped my arms around him, feeling grateful for his unexpected show of support. Maybe things were going to be okay after all.

I tried to hold back the tears that threatened to spill from my eyes. My life was a mess, and I didn't know how to fix it. But maybe, just maybe, Adrian's words could bring some light into the darkness

I looked into his eyes and saw a sincerity that I had never seen before. And for some reason, it comforted me. Maybe it was because he was the only one who seemed to understand what I was going through.

We stood there in silence for a moment, just holding hands.

After a few minutes, we walked back to the main hall in silence, but even though there was no romantic connection between us, I realized that Adrian was a true friend, and that was something I desperately needed in my life right now.
