The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 76

Felicity POV.

Since the arrival of Maximus, nothing was going well in the HQ of League Of Justice. I thought that with time, everything would work out, on the contrary it got worse.

Every day it was the problems, either between me and kyle, or between Maximus and kyle, or Maximus and Adrian, between Kyle and Ava, nothing was going anymore, they were arguing all the time.

But what struck me most was the change in Kyle. Whenever Maximus was around, Kyle would be tense and on edge. He was always trying to prove himself and get ahead of Maximus. It was like he was trying to prove a point, but I didn't know what it was. One day, Kyle stormed into the common room where I was sitting. "I can't stand that guy!" he yelled, throwing his hands up in frustration.

"What guy?" I asked, confused.

"Maximus!" he spat out. "He's always trying to one-up me, always trying to make me look bad. I can't take it anymore."

I tried to calm him down and reassure him that he was a valued member of the team, but he wouldn't listen. He just kept ranting about Maximus and how he couldn't stand the guy.

Later that day, I found myself alone with Maximus. He looked at me with his intense blue eyes and smiled. "Is everything okay?" he asked me.

I hesitated for a moment before responding. "No, not really. The tension between you and Kyle is causing a lot of problems and it's affecting the team."

Maximus nodded thoughtfully. "I understand. But just know that I have no intention of competing with Kyle or anyone else. I am here to work together as a team and to fight for justice."

I was surprised by his response. I had always assumed that Maximus was trying to prove himself as well, but maybe I was wrong.

As the weeks went by, things slowly started to improve. There were still occasional flare-ups, but for the most part, the team started to work together more cohesively.

I couldn't help but wonder if I had misjudged Maximus. Maybe he wasn't the problem after all. Maybe it was something deeper within our team dynamic that needed to be addressed.

Either way, I was grateful that things were becoming more peaceful, and I hoped that we could all continue to work together to fight injustice and make the world a better place.

I thought the tensions had calmed down, but that was only the beginning.

The tension between Adrian and Maximus had become so bad that it was starting to affect the team's ability to function properly. Every time they were in the same room, there would be an argument. It was getting to the point where the other members of the team were starting to become frustrated and tired of having to referee the two of them.

The situation was also causing Adrian to become increasingly paranoid. He was always looking for ways to prove himself and get ahead of Maximus, which was making him push himself to the point of exhaustion.

Meanwhile, Kyle was feeling neglected and left out. He was not getting the same recognition as Maximus and Adrian, and he was growing increasingly frustrated.

Ava was also feeling the strain of the situation. She was trying her best to keep everyone together and functioning as a team, but it was becoming increasingly difficult.

The situation was getting out of hand, and it was clear that something needed to be done in order to restore peace and harmony within the team.

As the tension amongst the team continued to bubble, I knew I needed to do something about it. I went to see Adrian to discuss the situation with him, but his reaction caught me off guard.

When he saw me, his eyes narrowed and his expression turned sour. "What do you want?" he spat.

"I just wanted to talk to you about what's been happening," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady.

"What's there to talk about?" he snapped. "You know exactly what's been going on. That guy is a liability and we shouldn't have him on our team."

I sighed. "Adrian, you can't keep acting this way towards Maximus. It's not fair to him or the rest of us."

"I can't help it," he growled. "I hate the way he looks at you, like he's got some kind of claim on you."

I raised an eyebrow. "What are you even talking about? Maximus is the father of my son."

Adrian scoffed. "Don't give me that crap. I know you have feelings for him. I know that you don't consider me."

"What...what makes you say that?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

"Because I love you, Felicity," he said, his voice low and intense. "I've always loved you. And seeing you with someone else just... it's too much for me to handle."

I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment and confusion. I had no idea Adrian had feelings for me. But it didn't change anything. "I'm sorry, Adrian," I said softly. "But I don't feel the same way. And even if I did, it's not fair to take it out on Maximus." Adrian's jaw tightened. "You know what? This is bullshit. You always treat me like some kind of backup plan, but I'm done with it. I don't need you, Felicity."

I felt a pang of hurt at his words. "Adrian, that's not fair. I value our friendship..."

But he didn't want to hear it. He stormed off, leaving me standing there alone. As much as I wanted to fix things between us, I knew deep down that it wasn't going to be easy. The situation with the team had just gotten even more complicated.

As I stood there, stunned by Adrian's outburst, I heard Ava's cries coming from Kyle's room. Without hesitation, I rushed towards the sound. As soon as I entered the room, she fell into my arms.

"Felicity, I can't take it anymore. Kyle is becoming unbearable. He's so angry all the time, and he even hit me," she sobbed.

I hugged her tightly, trying to comfort her. "I'm so sorry, Ava. I'll talk to him. This isn't okay."

As I turned to leave the room, Kyle suddenly burst out of the door. He jostled me as he stormed past, not even bothering to acknowledge my presence.

"What's going on here?" I demanded, blocking his path.

He shoved me aside, barely pausing as he growled, "Stay out of it, Felicity."

I was shocked. This wasn't the brother I knew. Something was seriously wrong with him.

"Ava just told me that you hit her. That's not okay, Kyle," I said, trying to reason with him.

The situation was getting out of hand, and it was clear that something needed to be done in order to restore peace and harmony within the team.

He rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed. "She deserved it. She's been nagging me all day."

My jaw dropped. "No one deserves to be hit, Kyle. Not ever. You need to get a grip on your behavior before you really hurt someone."

He sneered at me. "Like you know anything about it. Just stay out of my business, okay?"

I was about to retort when I saw that Ava was still shaking in the corner. I took a deep breath and calmed myself down. "Fine, for now. But you need to fix this, Kyle. You're really hurting people right now."

With that, I left the room, trying to think of ways to help my brother. This wasn't going to be easy, but I knew that I had to try.

As I walked past Kyle and Ava's door, I paused to eavesdrop on their conversation. I knew it was wrong, but I couldn't help myself.

"You're just a bad friend to Felicity," Kyle yelled. "And a hypocrite!"

"No, I'm not!" Ava protested through sobs.

"Yes, you are! You've been lying to her this whole time."

"I haven't been lying. I just haven't told her everything."

"What's the difference?"

"It's complicated."

"It's not complicated. You're keeping secrets from your best friend. How could you do that? If you don't tell her the truth, I will. And I'll break up with you."

Ava's crying intensified, and Kyle sneered, "Oh, those are just crocodile tears. You don't deserve my sympathy if you won't even be honest with Felicity."

I could hear Ava's shaky breaths as she tried to compose herself. "She loves him, I don't want to hurt her."

Who was she talking about? Maximus? I hooked my ear to hear better.

Kyle laughed nervously. "You have to tell her the truth, Ava. It's not fair to keep her in the dark."

How could Kyle do this to me? And what was Ava hiding from me? I felt sick to my stomach as I tried to process everything.

I knew one thing for sure - I needed to confront them both and get to the bottom of this. Whatever it cost me, I had to know the truth.

I couldn't bear to listen any longer. My heart was racing as I shoved open their door and entered.

They both jumped at the sudden intrusion, Ava's eyes wide with fear and Kyle's with guilt.

"What's going on? What are you both hiding from me?" I demanded, my voice shaking with emotion. "Ava tell him or I tell him! Choose."

Ava lowered her head and spoke softly, "I'm sorry, Feli. I didn't mean for you to find out this way."

"Find out what?" I asked, my anger rising.

"Ava tell him or I do." Kyle threatened her.

"What are you talking about, Ava? What does Maximus have to do with anything?" I asked, feeling my heart drop to my stomach.

"It's complicated, Feli. But you deserve to know the truth," Ava said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Tell me, now," I demanded, my eyes locked on Ava's.

"Maximus...he's the son of the man who killed your parents," Ava said, her words hitting me like a ton of bricks.
