The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 7

As the group of men approached, I tried to stay hidden behind the tree, but my heart was pounding so loudly in my chest that I was sure they could hear it. Maximus was scanning the area, searching for me, and I knew that if he found me, it would be the end. Suddenly, a hand reached out and grabbed me, pulling me into a nearby bush. I turned around to see who had saved me and saw a young woman with dark hair and piercing brown eyes.

"Who are you?" I asked, still trying to catch my breath.

"My name is Ava," she said.

Before I could ask any more questions, she led me through the woods, away from Maximus and his men. We ran for what felt like hours, until we finally reached a small, hidden cabin deep in the forest.

As we entered the cabin, I couldn't help but notice how cozy and warm it felt inside. "This is my home," Ava said, "you're safe here."

"Thank you," I said, still in shock from what had just happened. "I don't know how to repay you."

"Don't worry about it," Ava replied. "I'm just glad I could help."

As we sat down at the small table in the cabin, Ava poured us each a cup of tea. "So, what brings you out here?" she asked.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to tell her. "I'm just passing through," I lied. "I needed some time alone."

Ava looked at me skeptically. "I've been around here long enough to know that no one just passes through this part of the woods," she said. "What are you running from?"

I didn't know what to say. I had only just met Ava, and I didn't know if I could trust her. "I...I can't say," I stammered.

Ava nodded understandingly. "That's okay," she said. "Just know that you're safe here. You can stay as long as you need to."

As we chatted over tea, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. I knew that I couldn't stay in the cabin forever, but I didn't know where to go or what to do next. And I still couldn't bring myself to tell Ava the truth.

But as we finished our tea, Ava suddenly stood up. "We have to leave," she said. "Now."

"What's going on?" I asked, confused.

Ava hesitated before answering. "I...I can't explain right now," she said. "But we have to go."

As we made our way through the forest, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. We had barely gone a mile when we heard the sound of footsteps behind us. I turned around and saw a group of men in the distance, wearing the uniform of Maximus's servants.

"Run!" Ava shouted, grabbing my hand.

We ran for what felt like hours, until we finally reached another small, hidden cabin deep in the forest.

As we entered the cabin, Ava locked the door behind us. "We're safe for now," she said, breathing heavily. "What's going on?" I asked, still out of breath.

Ava hesitated before answering. "I used to be a part of a rebel group that's fighting against the King Maximus's rule. They're trying to overthrow him and bring back democracy" she explained. "But I left. I thought I could start over, but it seems like they're still after me."

I looked at her in shock. "So what do we do now?" I asked.

"We have to lay low," Ava said. "Stay out of sight and hope that they don't find us.

I know of a small village not too far from here," Ava explained. "It's a place where people like us can go to start over. No one will ask questions, and no one will bother us."

I looked at her, surprised at her offer. "Why are you helping me?" I asked.

Ava smiled. “Because I know what it's like to be running from something," she said. "And I believe that everyone deserves a second chance."

The next day, Ava woke me up very early

I groggily opened my eyes, still feeling the weight of exhaustion weighing heavily on me. I had barely slept, my mind racing with thoughts of the danger that still loomed over us. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in my stomach.

Ava noticed my unease and placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry," she said. "We'll be safe in the village."

I was hesitant, but something in Ava's words made me trust her. "Okay," I said. "Lead the way."

As we made our way through the forest, Ava filled me in on the details of the village. "It's not much," she said. "But it's a safe place.

I couldn't help but feel a sense of hope. Maybe this was the fresh start I needed. Maybe I could finally put my past behind me and start a new life.

But as we reached the outskirts of the village, I saw something that made my heart sink - a group of Maximus's men, patrolling the area.

"We have to be careful," Ava said, pulling me behind a nearby building. "They're always on the lookout for rebels."

As we made our way through the village, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. I had thought that this was going to be my fresh start, but now it seemed like I was just trading one danger for another.

But as we reached a small house on the outskirts of the village, Ava turned to me with a reassuring smile. "We'll be okay," she said. "We just have to be careful."

The village was small, but it was bustling with activity. People were going about their business, and no one seemed to pay us any attention.

Ava led me to a small cottage on the outskirts of the village. "This is where we'll be staying," she said. "It's not much, but it's safe."

I nodded, trying to push my fears aside. Maybe this was my chance to finally start over, to find a new home and a new family. But deep down, I knew that the danger was still there, lurking just beneath the surface. And I would have to be ready for anything.
