The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 10

Maximus POV

But as the night wore on and the trackers failed to return, my impatience grew. Hours turned into days, and still there was no sign of them.

Finally, they returned, looking battered and defeated.

"What happened?" I demanded, unable to hide my frustration.

"Your highness," Marcus said, bowing before me. "We're sorry. We were unable to find Felicity."

My anger erupted like a volcano. "What do you mean you couldn't find her? You had a lead!"

I slammed my fist on the table. " Damn it! You're just useless!" I snapped.

"We followed the tracks to the neighboring pack's territory, but Felicity wasn't there," Marcus explained. "We searched everywhere, but she was nowhere to be found."

I couldn't control myself any longer. I picked up a vase and hurled it against the wall, shattering it into a million pieces. "This is unacceptable!" I yelled. "I need answers, and I need them now!"

Marcus and the other trackers flinched at my outburst, clearly taken aback by my anger. But I didn't care. Felicity was my property, and I refused to let her disappear like that.

"You're telling me you searched everywhere and found nothing?" I seethed, my fists clenched at my side. "How could you be so careless?"

"We did everything we could, your highness," Marcus said, his voice shaking slightly. "But we were up against a dead end."

I shook my head, unable to believe what I was hearing. "No. I refuse to accept that. There has to be something you miss. Another clue, another lead, something!"

I could feel the heat rising in my face as I glared at the trackers. They were my most trusted advisors, the ones I relied on to keep our kingdom safe. And yet, they had failed me when I needed them most.

"I won't rest until we find Felicity," I said, my voice low and menacing. "I'll search every inch of this kingdom myself if I have to. But mark my words, we will find her."

The trackers nodded solemnly, clearly aware of the gravity of the situation. But I could tell they were also afraid of me, of the fire in my eyes and the anger in my voice.

As they left the room, I sank into my throne, feeling exhausted and defeated. I had never felt so helpless before, and I knew that if we didn't find Felicity soon, it might be too late.

As I sat there, lost in thought, one of my guards burst into the room. "Your highness," he said, bowing before me. "We have news about the prisoner, Stefan's mother."

I looked up, my interest piqued. "What happened?" I asked.

"She's dead, your highness," the guard replied. "We found her hanging in her cell this morning."

"Throw her body in the pit," I said, my voice cold and emotionless. "And make sure no one tries to give her a proper burial. She deserves nothing but the lowest of the low."

The guard nodded, clearly used to my harsh commands.

As I sat there pondering, the guard's words echoed in my mind. Stefan's mother was dead. But what about Stefan? He had been in the cell with her. I turned to the guard and asked, "What about Stefan? Was he with her when she died?"

The guard hesitated for a moment before answering. "Yes, your highness," he said.

I raised an eyebrow in surprise.Stefan had been with his mother when she died? "And how did he react?" I asked.

The guard cleared his throat. "He cried, your highness. He was very upset."

I felt a small sense of satisfaction at hearing this. Stefan had finally gotten what he deserved for selling me Felicity, a wayward girl who had caused nothing but trouble. But at the same time, I couldn't help but wonder if there was more to Stefan's tears than met the eye.

"Watch him closely," I said to the guard. "And let me know if he has anything to say."

The guard nodded before leaving the room. I sank back into my throne, feeling a sense of unease settle over me. Stefan was a dishonest man, one who had caused me nothing but trouble since the day he sold me Felicity in my kingdom. And now, with his mother dead, he had nothing left to lose.

But still, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something else going on. Something that went beyond just Stefan and his mother, beyond Felicity and the missing trackers. Something that threatened the very foundation of our kingdom.

I knew that I had to be vigilant. I couldn't let my guard down, not even for a moment. Because in my kingdom, one misstep could mean the difference between life and death.

Just then, Titus approached me. "Your highness," he said, bowing before me. "There's something you need to see."

He led me to a secret room, hidden deep within the castle walls. Inside, I saw something that made my blood run cold. It was a map, detailing the layout of our kingdom, along with notes and markings that I couldn't decipher. "Who did this?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

"We're not sure," Titus replied. "But we suspect it's someone within our own ranks. Someone who wants to take the throne for themselves."

I couldn't believe it. Betrayed by my own people. How could I have been so blind?

I couldn't believe it. "We need to find out who's behind this," I said firmly.

"I'll gather a team to investigate," Titus said.

I nodded. "And in the meantime, we need to be more careful than ever before. We don't know who we can trust."

"I'll make sure the guards are on high alert," Titus said.

But I wasn't about to give up without a fight. I vowed to find out who was behind this, and to bring them to justice. And I knew that in order to do that, I would need to be more careful than ever before.

I vowed to get to the bottom of it, no matter what the cost. And I knew that if anyone dared stand in my way, they would face the full force of my wrath.
