The Luna’s Hidden Destiny – Chapter 9
(Mila)
I slowly started to wake, that relentless cold now replaced with a warmth unlike anything I had ever felt. I inhaled deeply, the air smelling of cherry and cedar. A scent so powerful that it seeped so far inside of me, the sensation alone warmed me to my core. What was that lovely smell? Why was it so intoxicating?
‘Mate.’
Calypso said abruptly, startling me as I slowly tried to wake up.
‘What do you mean mate?’
I was confused, weren’t we just at the river? Where are we? I tried to open my eyes, willing myself to wake up as I slowly began to regain my senses. My hand was warm and tingling, my heart beating rapidly as that rich musky scent filled me. I began to hear something now, a soft beeping and a deep breathing. I fluttered my eyes open before closing them just as quickly when a bright light blinded me. Moaning softly, I turned my head to the side and tried to lift my arm. That’s when I realized I was sore everywhere, my legs, arms, back, and shoulders, everything hurt.
‘Wake up Mila, Mate is here, I feel him.’
I opened my eyes again, everything flooded back to me as I began to panic. Where was I..where was my dad? My dad.. I sat up, my eyes opening wide as I looked around.
“You’re okay, you are in the hospital, everything is okay now.” A man spoke, his voice was deep with a velvety tone that left my heart racing.
The way he spoke instantly soothed me as I let my eyes adjust to my new surroundings.
‘Was he..could he be our mate?’
I asked Calypso before turning my head. My gaze landed on the most beautiful man I had ever seen in my life who was sitting right beside me. His surprising silver hair shimmered in the light, his eyes a piercing blue, and his face so handsome, he looked like a model.
The only man I could compare him to was James Dean, and that was because he was the only handsome man I could compare him with. He had a sharp jawline with high cheekbones, a straight nose with glowing skin that was lightly tanned and smooth. A soft smile pulled at his full lips, causing my heart to beat erratically. I quickly shut my eyes again, turning my head away, feeling completely overwhelmed. He was almost too pretty to even look at.
‘Is he our mate?!’
I asked Calypso in shock.
‘Yes, he is absolutely gorgeous. Say something, let him know you know who he is.’
I don’t think I can even speak right now..what would I say?!
Before Calypso could answer, the man reached forward, brushing a lock of hair out of my face, and tucked it behind my ear, causing a trail of sparks to trail across my skin.
“Are you okay?” He spoke gently, his voice drawing my gaze back to him.
I nodded, studying him once more as his full lips parted.
“What is your name?” He asked quietly, looking into my eyes as he spoke.
I blinked rapidly, not even sure if I even remembered my name. When I finally went to speak, my throat felt so dry, nothing would come out. He must have seen my struggle because he suddenly stood up, his hand leaving mine, causing an emptiness to fill me as he walked across the room. Wow was he tall, he had to be 6’4 at least and his body was muscular and toned. A new feeling entered me, a feeling of wanting. I wanted him to touch me, to hold me, I wanted to feel his muscular arms wrapping around me. I looked away once more. Embarrassed by my own thoughts as I tried to push them away for the time being. I could tell Calypso was loving this though…He quickly reappeared with a glass of water and held it to my mouth.
“Here drink this, you must be thirsty.” He offered attentively. He was so sweet.
After drinking a few sips, he placed the water down and sat next to me once more.
“Thank you.” I whispered hoarsely, causing a smile to form on his lips. I bravely reached my hand out, placing it palm up as I found myself craving his touch. He must have been feeling the same because he quickly grabbed it. His large hand pressed gently against mine, when a sweet tender warmth left him, tickling my skin as a calmness soon followed.
“Mila..is my name.” I managed to whisper, unable to keep my eyes off of him.
“Mila..” he breathed, the way he spoke my name making my body react in ways I never felt before.
Suddenly the air changed, a tension forming between us. Like a magnetic connection that pulled me to him. I had never met this man a day in my life but it was like he had been the one thing I was missing, that I had been waiting for..the reason why I was even created, to begin with. I knew right then that the mating bond is unlike anything I could’ve even imagined.
‘You should k**s him.’
Calypso purred, making me swallow hard as surprise filled me from how forward she was being. My eyes instinctively drifted to his lips while he peered down at me.
“My name is Rowan..I am..we are mates.” He explained nervously. His gaze burning as he met mine.
“Rowan..” My voice was soft and gentle as his name fell from my lips. His hand gripping me tighter as he leaned into me.
“I thought I would never find you..” He whispered mere inches from my lips. His hand reaching up and brushing his palm against my cheek tenderly. I closed my eyes, relishing his touch as our skin made contact.
The sensation caused me to ignite with tingles and sparks, filling my body with so much warmth I felt like I could burst. It was almost as if my body had been craving him all this time, his touch, his smell, his taste, all of him. My thoughts became jumbled as my heart felt like I wanted to give myself to him completely, in every way possible. How could I put so much trust in a man I just met?
I fluttered my eyes closed, leaning into his palm when the door suddenly burst open, startling me and causing me to jump as I looked behind Rowan. Fear filled me as a handsome man with black hair and blue eyes came rushing in. He quickly walked next to the bed, looking at me intently. I blinked my eyes in confusion. The man acted as if he knew me.
“Why didn’t you tell me she woke up?!” The man exclaimed with a frustrated tone. Rowan snapped his head to the side, glaring at the man as he spoke, they must have known each other.
“Because she just did, and I wanted my own time with my own mate.” Rowan said through clenched teeth, the way they interacted surprising me.
The man with Black hair reached out, taking my hand as he spoke, startling me by his forward action.
“My name is Blake, I am Rowan’s brother, I know..the better-looking one.” He smirked, and I couldn’t help the relief that filled me knowing they were related. I smiled softly. Rowan practically slapped Blake’s hand away, growling at him.
“You don’t touch.” He said seriously, warning him.
Blake lifted his hands innocently, backing away slightly with an amused look on his face. Suddenly, everything flooded into me, the realization that I was now in a new place and my dad was nowhere to be found. I began to panic once again, how could I of been so distracted, he must be worried sick about me. I didn’t even know where I was. It was obviously some type of hospital, like the ones I have seen in movies.
“My dad..I don’t know where he is.” I blurted, trying to sit up so I could go search for him. Rowan turned towards me, placing his hand on my shoulder, causing me to wince. Worry filled his eyes as he opted for my hand instead.
“Sorry..Your dad? Was he with you when you got hurt?” He asked me quickly, I nodded my head.
“We were attacked by rogues in our cabin, my dad was fighting them off when I got away.” I explained, looking down at our now intertwined fingers.
Suddenly Blake grabbed another chair, sitting next to Rowan. Rowan didn’t even notice, he was too busy staring at me, causing my nerves to rise.
“What pack did you guys live with? We can contact them, to make sure he is safe.” He now nodded to Blake, telling him to listen to every detail.
“We..we weren’t a part of a pack, it was just me and him. We lived in a cabin in the woods.” I said with embarrassment. I never knew it would be an embarrassing thing to admit until I saw their faces, they looked surprised.
“That’s okay, I’m sure we can find him. We will have some of our warriors go out and make sure they search the area thoroughly.” Rowan said encouragingly, his hand squeezing mine gently.
“I don’t want to cause any problems. I can go search for him.” I felt bad, I didn’t want them to go through any trouble for me. I tried to sit up once more and now Blake seemed to stiffen, like he wanted to reach out and stop me.
“No, I don’t want you to leave my side..” Rowan said firmly, causing Blake to look at him with surprise at his commanding tone. My own heart fluttered as Calypso obviously loved his possessive tone. I could feel her tail wagging. I nodded my head, hearing how he didn’t want me to be away from him surprised me.
“You are safe here, I know you are worried about your dad, but we will find him and bring him here safely. We will start preparing a room for him now, that way when we find him he can stay here with us.” His voice wasn’t quite firm but I felt he left no room for arguing against it. I nodded my head instinctively, not feeling in good enough health to even attempt an argument.
“Where are we exactly?” I asked quietly, looking around the room for any clues.
“This is Black Stone, our pack. Well..you are obviously in the hospital now, but soon you can come home to the pack house.” Blake said with a cheesy grin, causing Rowan to growl.
“Don’t you have somewhere else you should be?” Rowan snapped, glaring at Blake as anger flashed through him.
Just then, I heard a song playing from somewhere, and I looked around the room in confusion. Was it one of the machines going off? Blake reached into his pocket and pulled out a rectangle-shaped object, placing it to his ear, and suddenly began to talk.
I looked at the object curiously, wondering what it was.
“What is that?” I asked quietly, causing Rowan to glance between me and where I was pointing, blinking in confusion.
“That?” He asked, pointing to the object. I nodded my head slightly.
“That’s a cellphone, you have never seen one before?” He asked me with surprise, his hand now rubbing mine, distracting me. I shook my head no as my stomach fluttered, my cheeks turning red as he leaned into me.
“We will get you one, it’s a portable phone. That way you can text or call me whenever we are apart.” He whispered into my ear, inhaling deeply as he spoke.
“Which won’t be often if I’m honest.” His words were bold, his eyes now blazing as he looked at me.
“Your eyes are unlike anything I have ever seen.” He spoke low, so only I could hear.
‘Our mate is absolutely perfect.’
Calypso sighed, and I couldn’t help but agree. Was this too good to be true? He seemed perfect in every way.
Just then Blake put the phone away, sitting back down as he g*****d.
“Sorry about that..so..what is your name?” He asked curiously.
“Her name is Mila, now..don’t you have something you need to be doing?” Rowan said through clenched teeth.
“Nope, cleared up my afternoon for this, now let’s see what’s on t.v.” Blake smirked while reaching for the remote. Rowan reached out, gripping Blake’s hand as he spoke.
“Can I please just have a few minutes alone with my mate…” his words were threatening but said in a calm tone. Blake blinked his eyes, looking between us, and then sighed.
“Fine, I will go find us some food, then I am coming back. You get twenty minutes..” he said with a wink and got up from his chair, walking towards the door.
After leaving, Rowan turned to me quickly, his eyes studying me as he spoke.
“Sorry, my brother is a bit much sometimes..” he said looking back towards the door, making sure Blake wasn’t coming back.
“He seems nice.” I gave him a soft smile, making his own appear just as quickly.
“Eh, he’s not bad.” He shrugged his shoulders as he spoke. He quickly examined me, looking at the bed like he wanted to say something else. I tilted my head slightly, the look of hesitation filling him.
“Do you think..” He trailed off and looked towards the window.
“Would it be okay if I laid with you?” He asked suddenly, surprising me.
