The Luna's Hidden Destiny

“Hey..it’s okay, Mila just breathe.” I heard Rowan’s voice penetrate my mind. His hands cupped my face as he looked into my eyes.

“You are not obligated to do anything, I will not force you to.” He began to rub gentle circles against my skin, soothing me as I began to calm down.

“I just, I didn’t expect that. I thought..I thought you would be like me or something.” I mumbled, feeling embarrassed by my reaction.

“I didn’t want to hide it from you or you find out from someone else. We don’t have to talk about it now, but obviously I would love for you to be my Luna. And if you aren’t ready for that, I want you as my mate, no matter what.” He said reassuringly, his words soft and nurturing. I nodded my head, still trying to wrap everything around my mind.

“I’m sorry, I just never thought..” I whispered, looking away. I felt like I was already letting him down. It really was the last thing I expected him to tell me.

‘At least he wasn’t married, that would have been worse.’

Calypso cut in, her light-hearted comment catching me off guard as I hadn’t realized I had even re-opened the link.

I scoffed to myself and Rowan looked at me curiously.

“Just my wolf, we thought you might tell us you were married or something. So she said at least it wasn’t that.” I looked away sheepishly.

He breathed out a sigh of relief, seeing me calmer now.

“I am definitely not married.” His mouth twitched into a smile as he brushed my long hair back.

“I know this is a lot, we don’t have to rush anything and I want you to be comfortable. But just know, from the moment I met you, I feel like my world has changed. Like something I didn’t even realize I was missing has been returned to me, making me whole.” Hearing him say this, it was almost as if he knew my exact feelings and put them into words.

“I feel the same way.” I whispered, my emotions rising as I looked at this man. My life had changed completely in the last twenty-four hours. How was this even real? Did I die in that river and this is heaven?

“So let’s just take our time, let’s get to know each other. No pressure okay?” He squeezed my hand as I nodded my head, agreeing completely..all of that can wait, first I just want to get to know who this amazing guy is.

“Okay, I can do that.” I reached my arm up, snuggling back into him as he lay on his side. Before I knew it, exhaustion hit me once more and I was drifting off to sleep in the arms of my Alpha mate.

F**k she was so perfect, everything about her was more than I ever dreamed of. The way she handled me being Alpha went better than I thought. I saw her freak out a little but seeing her not close off was a good sign.

I looked down at my beautiful mate as she drifted off to sleep. Everything about her drove me f*****g insane. Her angelic smile, the way her eyes sparkled as she looked at me like I was the most interesting person she had ever met. Well, maybe I was, considering the life she seemed to have before this.

What the f**k was that about? Her father hiding her away in a f*****g cabin. I mean…I get it, some humans live like that, but for her dad, being a werewolf and not being a part of a pack..it was odd. I wouldn’t necessarily call them rogues, so it seemed more like he just isolated them. She seems to know a little about pack life, but me and mom can help her with a lot of the Luna stuff when we get to that.

‘She is perfect, she will be the best Luna.’

Bain declared, damn he was so protective of her already. The way he couldn’t control himself and practically attacked her in bed.

‘Beautiful mate is everything, beautiful mate is ours. Let’s mark her tonight, let’s claim her right now.’

I growled at him, how much he was trying to push her already, it might be too much.

‘Bain, we cannot rush her, this is a lot already.’

I spoke firmly, he knew I was right considering he walked off into the back of my mind..he was like a pouting child who didn’t get his way..

Suddenly I heard the door creak open, causing me to glance over and see my brother just as he slipped into the room.

‘Don’t you dare f*****g wake her Blake.’

I quickly mind-linked him.

He made a dramatic gesture as he slowly crept in, sitting in the chair by the bed.

‘In the bed already I see.’

He quipped, causing me to glare at him.

‘Why are you here?’

I asked, severely annoyed.

‘What? I can’t care about my future sis in law? She isn’t just yours you know, now she belongs to the family. Mom is pissed by the way..’

I lifted my head, my eyes wide. He told my mom she was awake already? Oh great..

‘Why did you tell her?’

I couldn’t help the anger that was rising inside of me.

‘You know I can’t lie to her..she linked me right as I left the room earlier. I told her to give you some space.’

I couldn’t help the sigh that left me, it was a little louder than I expected and Mila stirred slightly making Blake point at me, rubbing it in my face that I was being the loud one, not him.

‘Why do I want to punch you in the face so badly right now?’

I linked as he smiled widely at me and crossed his arms. He sat back, looking at Mila as he studied us.

‘Shit, why do you two look so perfect together. It’s not fair, I was hoping your mate would be ugly and you would have to live with that forever. Instead, she is pretty much the most gorgeous and innocent woman in the world, my f*****g luck.’

He pouted, I couldn’t help but smile as I looked down at her.

‘She is pretty f*****g gorgeous, isn’t she?’

I said quietly, my heart swelling as I realized how lucky I truly was.

‘What’s up with the dad thing? So they weren’t rogues, but they didn’t belong to a pack. Seems odd, doesn’t it?’

He thought the same thing I did, it felt like there was more to this than we knew. I’m sure we would find out more later on.

‘Did Tristan send out the guards to search near the river? I’m sure he must be looking for her, considering they were attacked.’

Blake nodded his head, stretching his feet out as he shifted his position. He looked so big compared to the small chair, he was two inches shorter than me but he made up for it with his broad shoulders.

‘Yeah, they just went out an hour ago. Tristan asked if he could come to visit. He feels pretty shitty.’

He linked with a raised eyebrow.

‘Really? Doesn’t seem like him to want to do that.’

That seemed odd, he wasn’t the type to go out of his way like that. He kept things on a more professional level.

‘Yeah, I think he still feels bad, but Finn called a few minutes ago, he is heading over a day early and wanted to check in.’

He was smirking now, my stomach dropped..great, now I have to deal with Finn too. I fought another sigh as I narrowed my eyes.

‘Please tell me you didn’t say anything…’

I begged and pleaded with the goddess. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Finn like a brother, but I knew for a fact he would do everything to get under my skin. This was going to be a shock to him. Especially since the last time I talked to him, I told him I would be picking a mate soon. F**k..

‘He knew something was up when you didn’t answer your phone and Dad did.’

Blake was loving this, seeing me getting all fired up. I was usually able to control it better, not let it show like this. Now I felt like my emotions were all over the place. This was going to be hard, I didn’t know if I could be the “tough, doesn’t give a f**k about your feelings Alpha” while she was around.

As if he could read my mind Blake responded.

‘Honestly..it’s nice to see you like this man, to see how you are with her. To see a gentle side of you..like who knew you had feelings.’

He said teasingly, but I knew he meant it.

‘I didn’t know it would be like this either. I honestly thought when I met my mate, it would be like any other relationship. I knew there would be more of a s****l connection, but this..the way I want to protect her, to make her laugh and see her smile. I didn’t expect this, and it’s only been a few days..I am f****d.’

I g*****d and laid my head back on the pillow, my confession making me close my eyes.

‘Yeah, you really are, Dad is already head over heels for her too by the way. He was talking her up to all of his friends, and he didn’t even meet her awake yet..’

Blake laughed, what he said causing me to smile.

‘He said he felt a strong Luna aura from her, I honestly feel it too. But she knows nothing about being in a pack or anything like that, so I feel like it will be intimidating for her at first.’

I linked to him, sharing my concerns about how hard it might be for her to accept it.

‘That might be what we need though, not someone who has biased opinions over rankings or cares about status. In her eyes, we are all just people, and I feel like she will treat our pack like she would a friend, and have respect for everyone, no matter who they are.’

I nodded my head, what he said surprising me, I didn’t even think about it like that. I could tell Mila had a kind heart. Just from the way she spoke and handled herself. The whole time she was asking if I was okay or comfortable when she was the one who just had surgery. And with her upbringing, it seemed to make the little things mean that much more. She isn’t like most women, who want just the title and the reward that comes with it. She literally was given no choice because she has to be the best choice. I know my Mate will be an amazing Luna, we just have to convince her of that now.

‘How is Bain handling it all?’

He asked curiously.

‘Like a psycho..he is ready to claim and mark her right now.’

I heard Bain growl, not liking how I outed him like that.

‘Shit, let the girl at least try to walk first before that.’

Blake laughed, smirking at me as I tried to suppress my laughter.

‘Do you think you could ask the nurse to send us some food? Oh, chocolate cake too, she said that’s her favorite.’

He nodded, stretching his arms above his head as he stood quickly.

‘I should get back anyway, last I heard Mom was cornering Dad, interrogating him about his visit and every detail about her.’

He said as he walked towards the door before he paused, turning back to face us.

‘Rowan, I’m happy for you bro, I think she will be exactly what this family needs. That is until my incredibly hot and undoubtedly amazing goddess of a mate comes around, then we will really be complete.’

He said winking and I shook my head smiling. He always had to add something.

‘Thanks, beta, now let me cuddle with my mate. Oh and don’t forget the chocolate cake…please.’

I reluctantly added the last part, and I knew he was loving every moment of this.

‘Anything for our Luna.’

With that, he slipped out of the room and closed the door gently. I looked down at my girl, seeing her sleeping peacefully as I couldn’t help but stare. Memorizing every detail, the small freckles that were barely visible on her cheeks and nose. The way her pouty lips parted gently as she sighed with contentment. Her wavy chocolate brown hair that smelled heavenly, all of her smelled heavenly. The memory from earlier popped into my mind. How I kissed her and nibbled her bottom l*p. How I could smell her arousal instantly. Suddenly my c**k twitched, that smell making me hard just thinking about it. She was f*****g mine. No one else could have her but me. Bain growled.
