Chapter 15 I'm Your Fiancé
Louis tried to get away but Liam's grip on his nape and waist tightened. And just like before, he was in the middle of a sentence giving Liam full access to his mouth. Liam ravaged him with pure animal lust, it made Louis whimper despite himself. Liam was demanding and Louis could not resist. He found himself mimicking the movement of Liam's lips and tongue.
Louis heard Liam groan in his mouth when he hesitantly touched his tongue with his. Louis knew it meant Liam felt good and it made Louis feel wonderful. He wrapped his arms around Liam's neck and pushed himself closer to him. That earned him another deep groan. Liam bit and almost chewed on Louis' lips. He felt his back hit the wall as Liam's kisses turned more aggressive and demanding.
"Lou..." Liam hissed his name as he kissed and bit along Louis' jaw. "I'm your fiancé. You can't do this with anyone else." Liam grunted between bites and kisses down the column of Louis' neck.
Louis stilled and pushed Liam away.
"What did you say?" There's revulsion on Louis' face.
Liam's eyes sharpened at him. "I said I'm your fiancé. No matter how unwilling we are, we are engaged. So what ever happens, you can't do this kind of thing with anyone other than me."
Louis just stared at him blankly. "Back off." He calmly said.
"I'm serious." Liam stressed.
"So am I. Now, back. The Fuck. Off!" He harshly pushed him away.
"Shit, what's your problem?" He clearly saw how Liam's face reddened with anger.
"Stop playing with me, Liam." Louis said heatedly before walking away from him.
*****
Louis dazedly stared at the open magazine in front of him. There, in a whole page, was a picture of him and Liam, kissing hotly in an empty hallway. On the other page was a write-up entitled, "Mr. Prim And Proper Meets The Playboy". "Looks like we need to formalize your engagement, son." Louis still dazedly looked at his father who looked so happy.
It was early Sunday morning and they're currently having breakfast when Mark Tomlinson showed the magazine to him.
"Me and Geoff had already talked about it. Everything is ready for the formal announcement. We can do it two weeks from now. We're really happy to see that things worked out well between you and Liam."
They continued to eat their breakfast. Louis was on autopilot while eating. His father had finished and had already gone out of the house but he was still sitting and blankly staring at his plate.
Then, as if he woke up from a trance, he suddenly stood up and went to his room to take a shower and change his clothes. He needs to talk to his fiancé.
*****
"What shall we do now?" Louis was agitatedly walking back and forth in the living room of Liam's flat.
"Calm down, would you?" Liam irritatingly answered while sitting on the sofa.
"How can I possibly calm down!" Louis was kind of hysterical now as his words just flowed out. "They're gonna announce our engagement! Things will get more complicated if it became that formal. If we will not do anything about it now, we'll be thrown to the waves and boom! The next thing we know, we're already married! How could I possibly calm down!"
Liam's irritation sprang out. "I know that. You need not to enumerate it." He said sharply.
Louis stopped and looked at him, sighed then sat beside him. "I'm sorry. I know that you're also pissed at what happened. And I also know that you'd probably rather die than get married to me, too. I understand that. I'm sorry, I'm really just acting like a kid here." Louis rubbed his forehead with his fingers in frustration. "I'm just really in a panic mode right now."
Liam wants to laugh out loud. Damn!
"And I also know that you'd probably rather die than get married to me, too, I understand that."
I understand, huh? Is he telling him that what he feels is exactly like that? That Louis would rather die than marry him? Is it that revolting to be married to him? Louis talks as if it's already the end of the world. Damn, that really stung and irritated him more than he would ever care or dare to admit.
"I know what to do, Li!" He's still annoyed as he looked at the boy beside him. "I have an idea. I can talk to Zayn and have him pretend that we have a relationship-"
"No way!" He automatically and sternly replied.
"Why?" Louis was disappointed.
"It wouldn't work. If you and Zayn is in a relationship, then what is this picture?" He pointed at the picture in the magazine that is open on the center table.
"We can tell them that it was just a physical thing. Like what you said, it meant nothing."
"Did you really think that our parents will believe that?"
"But that's the truth!" Louis blurted out.
Liam froze. Yeah, that was the truth. That kiss meant nothing. It was just a stupid kiss. Just lust and hormones. No fuzzy and warm emotions.
Goddammit! Who was Liam kidding? That kiss meant everything to him!
"Still, if it's true that you and Zayn have a relationship, why just say it now? Why not from the start? That story was too flawed." He said flatly. His mind was raging but his tone was nonchalant.
"I can say that I'm just looking for the right timing. That can do, right?"
"So, does this mean that it's okay with you if your side will be the one to break the engagement? Is it okay with you for Uncle Mark to carry the burden of not fulfilling the dying wish of our mothers? Does this mean that it's okay with you the possibility of your dad having a heart attack because of that?" He stated. "Then, you should've said so in the beginning, so that we hadn't wasted our time devising plans." He mocked him.
Louis' face was unreadable. "You know I don't want that." Louis sternly said. "But if you haven't noticed, I'm desperate here, and it's not helping that you don't seem very eager to come up with solutions. All you do is criticize." Louis stood up annoyed while Liam stayed seated irritably.
"I'll come back tomorrow. Hopefully, you're more fit to talk by then." Louis walked out of his flat.
He frustratingly tugged at his hair.
"Shit." What is his problem?
Why is he so furious knowing that Louis doesn't want to get married to him?
What is it that he really want to happen?
*****
"What a selfish, arrogant, self-centered jerk." Louis muttered while inside the elevator going down the lobby of the building Liam's flat was in. Damn, it's really impossible for him to get along with that person. His head aches just by thinking about him.
Annoying bastard! If he knew better, Liam was just doing this to piss him off. The elevator doors opened and he's about to step out when he met gazes with Liam's father.

The old man smiled. "Your father said you might be here."
Louis stepped out of the elevator. "Are you about to go to Liam?" He asked.
Geoff shook his head-no. "No, I wanted to see you. Can we talk for a while, Louis?"
Even though he is having second thoughts, Louis smiled and nodded.
*****
They were seated at the coffee shop just in front of the building of Liam's flat. Louis was biting his lip and fiddling with his fingers nervously under the table while waiting for their orders.
"Louis, thank you." Finally, Geoff Payne spoke. "I know this engagement is a very selfish act of your father and mine." Louis' gaze was glued on the table. "At first, I really thought it would be impossible." He paused as if he wanted to collect his thoughts, then he spoke again. "Do you know that when Liam was still a child, he wanted to be a toy designer?"
Louis nodded.
"He thinks that I don't know. But I do and despite that, I brushed it off. I can only be happy and relieved that he did not insisted on what he wants. There's no resistance on his part and he studied a business course to be the successor of our family business. I'm really a despicable father, don't you think?" At this point, Louis looked at Geoff.
"That's why now, I was really guilt-ridden because again, I'm imposing my decision on him without considering his feelings. But when I saw the article and picture on the magazine, you don't know how happy I am." The smile on Geoff's face reflected the relief and happiness he was telling Louis about. "I'm happy to know that this is also what he wants. So, Louis dear, thank you for giving this relationship a chance to develop." Geoff reached for his hand and he obligingly pulled it from under the table and let the old man hold his hand.
Louis managed a smile, but inside, he felt like hell.
Geoff was wrong; it is not what Liam wanted. That's when he realized the truth while talking and listening to Geoff's story. He should've known; the evidences were all in front of him even from the start.
The reason why Liam learned to massage at such an early age, why he gave up his dream of being a toy designer- it's also the reason why Liam was unwilling to break off their engagement.
And that's because he loves his father so much. Unlike him, Liam was willing to give up his own happiness if it meant peace of mind for his beloved father.
Louis smiled painfully to himself.
