Part 2 Chapter 15 - Elijah
Diana had prepared for some kind of epic battle but things didn't really work out that way. With Arthur's powers neutralised most of the people in the pack gave up without a fight. They seemed to be disorientated more than anything else so Mark and the others gathered them all in more of the larger reception rooms so we could address them.
I needed to explain to them what had happened to them. It was disorientating when you woke up after being controlled by someone but I had only ever been controlled for a few minutes. There was no way of knowing how long these people have been controlled for, it could have been weeks, years or even decades.
There is one thing I knew for certain though, they were going to need help to integrate back into society. I was planning to offer them a place in our pack, at least until they had pieced enough of their life back together enough to know what they wanted to do.
"What happened to Arthur?" Mark asked once everyone was assembled.
"I bound his wrists and put him in the dirtiest looking cell in the basement." I replied.
I agreed not to kill him for Diana's sake but that didn't mean that I agreed to keep him in comfortable conditions. My wolf and I still thought it was a mistake not to kill him. Diana was trying to make him suffer for what he did, punishing him in line with the crimes he committed. But Arthur was devious, if there was anyone who could find a way around being made human then it was him.
If we were to ever let him go free (and that was highly unlikely given the way I felt) then we would have to make sure we kept him under surveillance. There was no way that I was going to let him do anything like this again, to us or to anybody else.
"Don't you think that is overkill, aren't his powers completely suppressed?" Mark asked.
"Nope. While he is alive I am not taking any chances." Diana answered on my behalf, it was good to know we were on the same page with that at least.
"Diana, have you seen Orian? I have been looking for him everywhere."
Diana's mom had appeared behind us, she was holding Cora in her arms. Cora was sleeping, she was so young that she probably wasn't aware of what was going on and how her life would change after today. That was probably for the best, at least she was young enough not to have been too traumatised by the way Arthur spoke about her.
"I haven't seen him anywhere, I thought he was with you." Diana replied, her voice high betraying the anxiety that she was feeling.
The last time I had seen him he was unconscious on the dining room floor but that room had already been checked, if he was there then he would have been moved to join the others. In fact, the whole house should have been checked so where could he be hiding?
Before I could formulate that question fully in my mind Diana had taken off running. I had never seen her move so fast, Mark and I had to sprint just to keep pace with her. She ran to the other side of the house then straight down into the dungeons.
By the time we reached the far end of the dungeons Orian was crouched in front of Arthur's cell, messing around with the lock. Diana didn't even break her stride as she noticed him, she ran right into him and tackled him to the ground. He let out a yelp of surprise as he hit the floor before trying to take a swing at her.
It was futile on his part. Diana was an amazing fighter, she would have been able to take him down easily even if he had his wolf. Without a wolf his attempts were pathetic, she rolled him onto his front then pinned him to the floor so that her knee was in the small of his back and his arms were twisted behind him.
"Oh well, it was worth a try," Arthur mumbled under his breath.
"You are lucky that I didn't kill you, but I can change that any time if you insist on making things difficult for us." I growled. This man was testing my patience big time.
"You can't do this to him, he is the rightful ruler of our kind," Orian screamed.
Diana ignored him, pulling him to his feet and pushing him into the cell next to Arthur's. He continued to scream nonsense as Diana locked the cell door but none of us were listening to him. Diana let out a deep sigh.
"What are we going to do about him? He is my brother, I don't want to leave him in a cell for the rest of his life."
"I will find some way to fix it, I promise." Not that I had any kind of plan on how to achieve that. When we got back home I would ask one of the psychiatrists to see him.
Once we were out of the dungeons I wrapped my arm around Diana's waist and pulled her towards me. As I did so I got a nose full of her scent, she always smelt amazing but this evening she smelt like pure bliss. I rubbed my nose along her neck and shoulder, taking deep breaths of her scent. Diana reacted by leaning into me and moaning loudly.
"You need to get her home."
Mark sounded concerned but I couldn't bring myself to care. All I could think about was how amazing it felt having my mate in my arms and how much I wanted to bury my nose in her skin and inhale her scent until I passed out. Better yet, I wanted to push her up against the wall and sink into her while she screamed my name in pleasure.
"Alpha."
Mark took hold of my shoulder and tried to pull me away from Diana. He wasn't strong enough to have much of an impact but his attempt irritated me nonetheless. Couldn't he see that I was busy at the moment.
I pressed my lips against Diana's neck as I pulled her body tightly against mine. Her skin felt warm to the touch, I knew there was something significant about that but I couldn't remember what it was. It felt as though it was just out of my grasp, or maybe it wasn't all that important in the first place. My mate was in my arms and she needed me, I could smell it in the air and feel it through our bond. That's what I needed to focus on.
In the back of my mind I was vaguely aware that there was some kind of commotion going on around us. Mark was shouting something and people were running. I ignored everything and continued to kiss my mate, she wrapped her legs around my waist, using her arms to lift her body up while she climbed me.
"Elijah, get off my daughter now." Diana's mom infused her word with an alpha command, it wasn't strong enough to command me but it was strong enough to clear my mind. Diana jumped off me and I quickly took a couple of steps back before I ended up screwing her in this hallway.
"What is going on? Why did I climb all over him like that?" Diana asked. The confusion in her voice made me want to hold her but I couldn't trust myself just to get that close to her.
"You are going into heat. I hoped you would have a bit more time but from Elijah's reaction to your scent, I don't think you have time to go anywhere." She turned towards me.
"You will have to use one of the rooms upstairs to see her through her heat."
"It's fine I can drive her home." I objected.
"I know you don't want to stay here for a second longer than you have to. But would it really be better to go through your first heat together in the forest?"
My wolf purred, he liked that idea a great deal. I on the other hand was not sure, we would be distracted and exposed. It didn't matter that our enemies were all in custody, there were other creatures in the forest and not all of them were friendly. It wasn't worth the risk.
"Come on honey, I will make you feel better." I took hold of Diana's hand and led her back towards our room.
