Chapter 9
When I opened my eyes the light was already streaming into my room through the curtains. I can't remember the last time I woke up feeling so refreshed and revitalised. Heck, I can't remember the last time I woke up after the sun had come up. I glanced over at my phone on my bedside table. It may have been later than I usually wake up but I still had some time before school started.
I had never bothered to set an alarm before. I could always count on my nightmares to wake me up before dawn anyway but last night there was no nightmare. If they really were gone and this wasn't a one off freak event then I might have to start thinking about that kind of thing.
I dragged myself out of bed, showered and got ready for the day ahead. Once I was dressed it became clear that I only had enough time to make myself breakfast or apply my makeup, not both. I guess I was going to have to go into school looking a mess because there is no way I could get through the day without coffee. It just wouldn't be safe for those around me. I knew it was the only choice but the idea that I might meet my mate while looking like such a mess was already starting to weigh on my mind.
The house was quiet while I was getting ready so I assumed that everyone else must have already left for the day. That was a good thing, I didn't want to be alone with Ryker right now, being around him was too confusing. As I walked towards the kitchen I glanced at myself in the mirror in the hallways. At least my but looked muce in these skinny jeans even if my face looked like a complete disaster.
"Don't worry you look as gorgeous as ever." Ryker said.
He was watching me from inside the kitchen. I hadn't realised he was still here. If I had I would have made sure that he didn't catch me checking myself out, how embarrassing. My face was probably a lovely shade of pink right now. "I made you breakfast, seeing as you were running late." He said.
"That is really thoughtful of you." I said.
I walked past him and took a long sip of the coffee that he had placed on the counter. I hoped that he wouldn't notice how embarrassed I was but I didn't think there was much chance of that. Ryker had a knack of noticing everything, particularly the things I didn't want him to notice.
"Oh goddess, that is just what I needed." I moaned as I put the coffee cup back on the counter.
I regretted my words as soon as they left my mouth. I had not had enough coffee to deal with Ryker yet, I had inadvertently opened the door for his advances.
I felt him come up behind me, his arms wrapped around my waist. He pressed his lips against my neck sending a pleasurable shiver down my spine. I could feel his body pressing against mine, warm and hard. Some parts of him are harder than others. I leaned back against him, enjoying the feeling of his body pressing against mine.
I could feel my wolf's discomfort growing. She didn't like Ryker touching me like this but I did. I hadn't been with a man for a while, I was enjoying the way he smelt and the feel of his muscular body pressing into mine. I wanted him but I knew that giving into my desire would give him the wrong impression. I couldn't do that to him, this couldn't go any further.
"We shouldn't do this." I said. My voice came out as a husky whisper.
"I know you want me, I can smell your arousal." He said.
He pulled me closer, I could feel his erection pressing into my ass. He ran his tongue along my neck making me moan. He removed one of his hands from my waist and placed it on my inner thigh. He started running his fingers up my thigh extremely slowly. I could feel my desire building, I wanted so badly to give in.
His fingers slipped under the band of my underwear and started to gently rub my clit. I felt my pleasure building, as he touched me while kissing my neck.
"You are already so wet for me." He said. He ran his tongue over my marking spot, making me moan even louder.
'You have to stop him. We could meet our mate today. You can't meet him for the first time smelling of another man.' Onyx said. Her sadness and fear broke the mood instantly.
"I can't do this right now." I said.
Ryker must have been able to pick up on my change in mood because he removed his hand from my underwear. He gave me one last kiss on my cheek.
"We can finish this later." He whispered in my ear.
Then he let go of me and walked away. I heard the front door closing behind him as he left the house. Now that I was alone I could talk to my wolf, I wanted to know why she was overreacting.
'I am not overreacting, I don't want you to cheat on our mate.' Onyx said.
'I can't cheat on someone who I haven't even met yet.' I told her.
I was eating the bacon sandwich that Ryker had prepared for me. Trying to eat as much of it as I could before I had to set off for school.
'You will meet him though. You don't want him to end up rejecting you because you were with another male at the time.' Onyx said.
I am sure that some of our kind would hold my sexual past against me. Some packs had very old fashioned views when it came to women but they were not the kind of people I wanted to be mated to.

If I was rejected over something like that then they would probably be doing me a favour. I didn't want to be with someone who had such archaic views on women. I was never going to be the type of woman who stayed at some to raise pups and be a housewife.
There was something else I had noticed about what Onyx said though.
'Do you know who our mate is?' I asked.
'Why would you ask?" Onyx said, she sounded defensive, she was definitely keeping something from me.
'You said 'him'. I am bisexual so you know something more than you are telling me.' I said.
'I don't know the human's name, but I feel the connection to his wolf. I can tell you his wolf is strong, kind and very handsome,' Onyx said.
'Can you tell me anything else about him?' I asked.
'I think he is close by.' She said before retreating further into my mind.
I could tell that she loved her mate already. I could hear the warmth of her feelings when she spoke about him. I just had to hope that my mate's human part was as nice as Onyx assured me his wolf part was. If he was then maybe there was hope for us.
I quickly finished my coffee and ran upstairs. I would have to make time to apply a bit of makeup. I didn't want to look like I had been dragged through a bush backwards the first time I met my mate.
