The Lost Female Alpha

Chapter 22

The cinema was quiet, almost empty which meant we had our pick of seats. Ryker and I sat down in two of the seats near the centre of the room. Ava made her way to follow us until Felix wrapped his arms around her waist to stop her. "What are you doing?" She asked, her voice shrill and her eyes darted around the room in fear. She didn't want anyone to see him with his arms around her.

"I thought we could sit over there." Felix said, pointing towards a quiet corner of the cinema. Ava's gaze flickered over to where Felix was pointing before looking around the room nervously again. She tried to remove his arms from her waist but he just gripped her tighter.

"I don't think that is a good idea." Ava said.

"What is wrong, you are acting as though you are ashamed of being seen with me." Felix asked, the hurt was clear on his face.

"It's not like that." Ava said, her voice carried a note of panic in it.

There were only a few other people in the cinema but they were all looking at us. Felix may not be the alpha but he was still well known among the pack. They were probably mind linking all of their friends right now to tell them all about the drama.

"Then what is it because I am having enough trouble controlling my wolf around you without you pushing me away like this." Felix said.

"I know you are going to lose interest in me in a few days or a few weeks and I don't want to be just another conquest for you." She said. She was talking quietly, trying not to let anyone around her hear but failing badly. A few people around us gasped.

"You are my mate Ava, I am never going to lose interest in you." Felix said. His eyes kept changing colour as he and his wolf fought for control.

His words pushed Ava over the edge. The anxiety faded from her face and was replaced with a look of pure rage. She started trying to push him away and pull his arms off her but it had no effect on Felix. He kept holding onto her tightly no matter how much she fought against him.

"If I was that important to you then you wouldn't have slept with my friend when you knew we were mates. Never mind all the other countless women you screwed." Ava screamed.

"I was stupid and scared. Please forgive me." Felix said, I could see tears forming in his eyes.

"I don't think I can Felix. I am pretty sure you were planning to reject me so maybe I should reject you first and get it over and done with." Ava said. "No." Felix screamed.

He gripped her tightly as his teeth started to elongate. Oh shit, I think he was going to mark her without consent. I had to stop him. I stood up and started moving towards him but it was too late. Felix's teeth pierced the skin on Ava's neck. Ava let out a blood curdling scream.

Everyone in the room started crowding around us, people were even coming in from outside. They were all talking but I couldn't hear what they were saying, I was too worried about my friend. Felix retracted his teeth from her neck slowly. "Ava, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to, my wolf took over." Felix said, sounding genuinely upset.

Ava started sobbing, she pushed Felix away and ran for the exit. Pushing past the growing crowd of people as she fled. Felix started trying to chase after her but I caught up with him, putting my hand on his shoulder to stop him. He turned to face me, tears were running freely down his face.

"I think it would be better if I spoke to her first." I said.

Felix looked upset but he nodded his head in agreement. I let go of Felix's shoulder and started following Ava's trail. She had run out of the cinema and down the road towards the lake.

By the time that I caught up with her she was sitting on one of the benches by the lake. She had her head in her hands and she was crying, her sobs were so violent that her whole body shuddered with every sob. I sat down next to her and placed my arm around her shoulders.

"Are you ok?" I asked. She shook her head.

"What did I do to deserve such a horrible mate? So many of the other girls at school would have loved to have Felix as a mate, why couldn't he have been paired with one of them? The moon goddess must really hate me." She said. "It's not right and it's also not right that Felix marked you without consent. What are you going to do about it?" I asked.

"I don't know. I can't reject him now but I am not ready to accept him either." She said between sobs.

"Nobody would expect you to go running to him. He has a lot to make up for, he needs to prove himself to you." I replied.

"You're right, I think I need some time alone to get things straight in my head" Ava said.

"That is understandable, will you let me walk you home?" I asked. I didn't like the idea of leaving her alone after what had just happened to her.

Ava nodded her head.

She was silent on the way back to her house. I could tell that she was clearly very upset about what had happened but she refused to talk about it with me. "Maybe tomorrow we can think of some way to make Felix pay for what he did." I suggested as we approached her house.

"Absolutely, I have a couple of ideas already." Ava said, smiling for the first time since Felix marked her.

After I left Ava I took the long way home. I wasn't sure how much of our afternoon activities Felix would have told his brother about. I dreaded hearing what Elijah would be thinking about when I got back home. He would probably be so disappointed with the trouble I got myself into today. I was a terrible mate, I had only known him for a few days and already I was disappointing him.

I could see him waiting for me outside of the house before I entered the driveway. He looked impassive and he had his arms crossed over his chest. I could feel fear starting to take hold in my chest, I hated the thought of hurting him. I reached out to him with my gift hoping to get an idea of what he was thinking. His emotions were a complex mixture of anger, worry and arousal as he watched me walking down the driveway towards him.

"Is Ava feeling alright?" Elijah asked me as I approached him.

"She is a little shaken up but I am sure she will be ok." I replied.

"So are you going to tell me why you went out to the border today?" Elijah asked. So Felix did tell him everything about what happened today. I wonder if he would have done that if it he hadn't messed up so badly with Ava. "It is a little embarrassing." I said.

"You can tell me anything. I am your mate, I am not going to judge you." He said, wrapping his arms around me in a protective manner.

"Ever since my parents got killed I have been worried about the same thing happening to someone else I love. I guess I wanted to see where they attacked so that I could put my mind at ease." I said.

"You should have told me about your concerns instead of going behind my back." He said, stroking my hair softly.

"I am sorry." I said.

"I forgive you but I am still going to punish you tonight." He said, kissing the top of my head.
