Chapter 383 A Poisonous Snake
Sharon's eyelids quivered when she was asked by Joey, and then she smiled and said, "I am fine. I just have had nightmares lately."
William looked at Sharon with worried eyes. He thought she was so tired probably because of having taken care of him.
Joey didn't believe what Sharon said, but she didn't want to dwell on it anymore.
The three continued to eat quietly. Suddenly they heard Lillian's cries of fright and Paige's screams from Paige's room.
"What happened?"
Joey was taken aback, and quickly put down the tableware, and said anxiously to the maid standing next to her, "Hurry to go to check on them."
While giving instructions to the maid, she stood up and scurried towards Paige's room.
If only Paige screamed, Joey would not be so worried. However, Lillian was also in Paige's room. It was not possible for Joey to turn a blind eye to a child under four years old because she was a mom. "Hurry up and push me to see her!" William said to Sharon.
For William, although he could not play with Lillian because of his paralysis, Lillian was always his first great-granddaughter.
Sharon said, "William, you are not supposed to be too anxious because of your high blood pressure. Don't forget what the doctor told you."
While speaking, Sharon pushed William's wheelchair towards Paige's room at a snail's pace.
At this time, Joey and the maid had arrived outside Paige's room. They could barely hear Lillian's cry, but Paige screamed louder.
"Madam, are you okay? Can we open the door?"
The maid did not get Paige's response, and then she tried to open the door.
As soon as the door was opened, the maid screamed in terror and fainted directly.
Joey saw clearly that there was a snake in Paige's bedroom. It was long and brightly colored, lifting its head and hissing. Joey knew it was a poisonous snake at a glance.
This poisonous snake was moving around in the room with its tongue out. As soon as the door was opened, it moved towards the door where Joey was standing.
When the other maids who arrived at the door saw this scene, they started to scream at once. Some were scared, some were worried about Joey.
Fortunately, Joey grew up in the countryside. When she was a child, her family was poor. She often went to the mountains where snakes were commonly seen to pick edible wild vegetables, mushrooms, and herbs. Because she had seen a lot of snakes, she was not afraid of snakes like most of women and she knew some ways to deal with them.
She snapped a branch off of a bonsai tree next to her, then used the branch to hook up the poisonous snake and threw it out the window.
Everyone was impressed by Joey's calmness at that time.
Paige was so frightened that she didn't notice that the snake had been thrown out of the window by Joey. She was holding the pillow in her hand, jumping and screaming on the bed. She looked like a crazy woman, not like an elegant lady at all. Lillian was already unable to cry, her little face was blue and she kept shivering.
Joey noticed something wrong with Lillian immediately. She saw two tiny holes in Lillian's left leg. It was obvious that Lillian was bitten by the poisonous snake.
"Go get the car ready right now. Lillian was bitten by the snake and she needs to go to the hospital as soon as possible." Joey told the housekeeper.
Joey carried Lillian and rushed to the door. Looking at the little girl with the blue face, she turned intensely anxious.
Although Lillian was Yolanda's child, Joey just saw her as an innocent child who was bitten by a poisonous snake and needed help.
Joey believed that the feud between people should not get the next generation involved.
Paige, who was already freaked out, was awakened when she heard Joey's words. She threw the pillow on the bed, and ran after Joey with bare feet. She kept saying, "God bless my Lillian. Please don't take her life..."
At this time, Sharon and William had arrived. When Sharon saw that Lillian had been bitten by the poisonous snake, her face suddenly turned pale. She seemed very regretful.
When Joey held Lillian and ran past Sharon, she glanced at Sharon and squinted coldly at her. Sharon seemed to be guilty and was afraid to look into Joey's eyes.
William was too worried about Lillian and couldn't help but cough anxiously. Sharon hurriedly pushed him to his room. While trying to find William his medicine, she comforted him that Lillian would be fine.
Joey got into the car prepared by the housekeeper with Lillian immediately. Paige also got into the car with acute anxiety inside.
"Go to the Champion Hospital and find Dr. Chance. Make it fast!" Paige collected herself and gave the order like before as soon as she got in the car.
