Chapter 19 by Ebony Woods
Reuben POV
My wolf takes control and growls at the sight before him. Her eyes snap to mine and she knows instantly who I am, her green eyes showing complete hatred for me.
What did she have to be angry about? She ran away and shacked up with her lover, bearing his child. I’m the one that has more of a right to be angry, to feel deceived.
Anger rages through my blood, hitting each and every red blood cell creating a trembling sensation to my body. My wolf wants blood.
She had his baby and has been alive all this time.
The little white blonde haired girl is passed into her mother’s arms as my gigantic alpha of alphas wolf shows no sign of stepping down. The child seems a handful and easily scared, she looks weak like her mother did the first time I met her.
My wolf snarls as the fucking beta-turned-doctor shifts, thinking he would be a match for me.
He has hidden my wife from me, the Luna of the Red Stone pack and will be held accountable just as this Silver Moon alpha that has offered her a place within his pack, kept her hidden.
Noah’s brown furred wolf moves to shelter the females behind him. He stretches out his back making it clear I would have to get through him first.
My wolf growls again, baring his teeth. I may be the Alpha King but I am no monster, I would not hurt a child or my wife.
Noah’s wolf snaps his teeth at me, trying to come across as threatening, trying to aggravate me.
He fails!
I look to Evelyn, her wolf is forward, I can sense her. Her green eyes have turned a deep forestry green, almost mistakenly black. Her wolf wants to come out, wants to fight me. Yet she is the one that has lied to me, that has hidden all this time. Sought sanctuary by a now enemy pack.
Whoever this Silver Moon alpha was, he has helped to shelter her all this time and started an alliance against me, most likely with her help.
I will make sure he pays for this level of treachery
It isn’t long before the warrior wolves hastily arrive and surround the family trio, even forming a protective circle around Noah. The alpha sending his aid to protect what is now his, my wife.
My wolf’s eyes can’t take his eyes off her, it is noticed by Noah, who growls as he follows my line of vision.
Whoever this alpha is will pay, he’ll die by my hands. 1
Evelyn POV
His black wolf is a beast, born to kill!
My men are waiting for my orders to attack, we could take him out…riddle the world of the alpha king. But I can’t seem to give the command, my wolf whimpering in my head for what I need to do.
“Give the order!” Noah’s voice enters my head.
“I I can’t.” I gasp back. What would my children think of me when they realise the truth when of
age
“Alpha?” Donnie’s voice rings in my mind.
“Hold your positions.” I order, he must know he is outnumbered and I wasn’t ready for him to learn. my true title.
He takes a step towards me, a husband wanting to talk privately to his estranged wife…I can see it in his eyes. How could he think I would want to talk to him ever again for what he has done to me?
A growl emits from my chest from the memory which makes him halt in his movement.
With a final snarl from his beastly wolf, aimed more at Noah, he flees back over the blackberry
bush and into the woods.
“Shall we follow Alpha?” Donnie checks through the mind-link.
“No, he’ll leave. He’ll know he isn’t welcome here.” How did he break my borders?
“I want everyone back for an emergency meeting. I want eyes on every inch of our pack borders for the next forty-eight hours in case he didn’t come alone.
“Mummy, who was that wolf?” Elspeth asks looking up at me.
“Not someone you need to worry about.” I hold her tightly before walking back to the alpha house. Noah walks next to us, remaining in wolf form…just in case.
“I want to know how he broke through our borders?” I roar from my seat on the round table, my alpha aura being released from pure anger.
For four years I had built up a secure pack, built up an alliance and he breaks through it within a day… by himself, not even with his warriors.
“Alpha, he’s the best tracker in the world.” Noah tries to bring a level of calmness into the meeting.
“I don’t want excuses, we are just lucky he didn’t bring his warriors with him. I won’t let us be attacked again!” I slam my clenched fist onto the table, creating a loud noise.
“Evelyn, calm down!” Noah’s voice enters my mind
“Noah, don’t tell me to stay calm. The Alpha King must never break our borders again!” I reply out loud, not through the mind-link to him, as I stand up and walk out of the room.
What exactly was I more angry at, the fact that he had penetrated our borders or that I didn’t give the order to attack? He ruined my life, he murdered by parents.
“It’s complicated…” My wolf soothes to me.
“What is?” I spat back at her as I head into my bedroom, directly into my en-suite. I felt like I needed a shower, to wash away the image of his wolf looking at me, to release the tension in my muscles.
“You still love him.”
“No I don’t…” I growl at her.
“He is the father of our children…”
“Anyone can father a child.” I lather up the shampoo on my scalp a bit too roughly.
What is wrong with my wolf, why is her anger depleting. I should have given the order for my men to attack, I could be rid of Reuben once and for all.
“Evelyn?” Noah’s voice enters from my bedroom.
“Just to let you know security has been tightened. Are you okay?” His concerned voice remains in my bedroom.
“Is Elspeth okay?” I counter ask, not really wanting to answer his question.
“She’s fine, she and Rex are watching a film with some popcorn. Do you want to talk about it?”
“No thank you Noah. I don’t need to talk about it. I want you to contact all the Silver Moon alliance members and have them on standby…”
“Evelyn he was just as shocked to see you, it was like he had seen a ghost. Did you rein in your alpha/aura…”
“Yes of course Noah.” I snap back, regretting it as soon as I did. He was just trying to help me.
As soon as I hear him leave my bedroom I cut off the shower and re-enter my room.
I felt so conflicted! I had hated him for so long. The fire that has raged within me for so long was due to my hatred of him, my want for revenge.
At the most opportune time to grant my revenge wish, I couldn’t go through with it. I couldn’t do that to my children, no matter what I think of him.
