The Legacy of the Alpha King: Hiding his Secret Twins

Chapter 146 by Ebony Woods

Vicky took advantage of them and used them. I wanted to show them that not everyone was like Vicky, that there are still people out there that care.

I was busy replying to emails when my office phone line rings.

“Yes?” I answer expecting it to be one of my usual suppliers with an update is a delivery.

“Alpha Evelyn, how are you? It’s Milo.”

“Milo, how are you…how is Candice doing?” The Blue Moon pack was a strong ally of my alliance. Having left the Red Stone alliance to join mine, something I’m sure Reuben was still secretly sulking about. More at them than me.

I had found out by the retired Alpha Ivo, that Candice was pregnant but that was some time ago. She must be showing now.

“She’s doing well thanks…Sorry, Evelyn but is Reuben there?”

“He is but it’s my number you have called.”

“He said this was the safest number, that it has been protected?”

“Oh has it now…” This is news to me, what else exactly has my mate been doing.

“Please hold, I will see if he is available for you.” I put on a sarcastic secretarial voice. Petty I know but I couldn’t help it.

Walking out of my office I enter the kitchen to find Reuben and Nate laughing about something, the laughter stopping as soon as I walk in. Both of them sitting back in their chairs too comfortable with mugs of coffee in their hands.

“Please don’t mind me…”

“Just something Rex said this morning. What’s up?” Reuben keeps his charming smile which annoyingly was already working on me.

“Excuse me Sir but you have a phone call. Alpha Milo from the Blue Moon pack.”

“Oh great, thanks.” He doesn’t pick up on my sarcasm at all, believing I really was trying to be that helpful.

“Perhaps we should get you a sexy secretary outfit too.” His low sexually charged voice enters my head before he squeezes at my ass. Okay maybe he did pick up on my tone after all.

As I follow him back into my office I sit down at my meeting table as he sits at my desk.

“Maybe I should take this alone?” He looks up at me but soon changes his mind when he feels my irritation through the bond.

“No need, this is my office so I’ll hear what ever he has to say…”

“Milo, what news?” He asks with a smirk aimed at my ability to refuse his commands.

“Reuben, the first meeting is to take place tonight at the Sickle Peak pack. Alpha Renard is to run the meeting. Do you want me to attend?” Reuben’s eyes don’t leave mine once as I listen in on Milo’s news.

Meeting, what meeting? And since when did Renard have the authority to lead group alliance meetings.

“No, I have someone who can attend. Stay clear, I wouldn’t want any of this to blow up in your face. I’ll keep you posted.” Reuben commands as he hangs up the phone.

“Reuben what the hell is going on?”

“I didn’t want to worry you…” Не sighs. For his arrogant behaviour at times I can tell it is part of a façade to hide the fact that he is worried about me and the kids.

Before he only needed to worry about himself if his actions led to trouble, now he has a family to think of, to protect. But I wish he would see that I am here to protect them as well, that I would protect him as much as he would protect me.

My parents were a team and that’s what I want me and him to be, a team.

“Tell me, no matter what it is, I’ll try to be understanding. But this is your chance to tell me everything, no more half truths.” I offer, standing up and walking over to my desk, leaning against it. Both of his hands grab onto my hips and he pulls me closer to him, perching me against the desk and in- between his legs.

“I let one rogue go, he is undercover waiting on news to attend this meeting. He will then use it as an opportunity to learn what is being said and ideally where Odin may be.”

“You think he can be trusted?”

“Nate does yes, and I trust Nate’s judgement.”

“Why are the packs gathering?”

“There’s still talk of Odin taking over

“Using me to control the Silver Moon pack…”

“Evelyn, I promise you, I won’t let him get anywhere near you. I’d die before I let him hurt you again. The packs that are loyal to Father are gathering….” I cut him off, there was never any doubt of his leadership skills. His father was greedy for power and he wouldn’t get it. These packs needed to finally make a decision. They either followed him or they were traitors.

“Then we descend on them and remind them of who their true Alpha King is.”
