The Legacy of the Alpha King: Hiding his Secret Twins

Chapter 142 by Ebony Woods

“Eight!” He responds as we walk into a large cell, eight male rogues standing against the back wall. All trembling as Reuben releases his aura into the room, all but one. Reuben notices, as do I.

“I’m going to make this very simple…” Reuben growls at the men in the room, his eyes instantly turning the dark navy blue of his wolf, the room becoming small under his presence. Even my own throat catching.

“..I need someone to go undercover, to find information out from a secret meeting with a number of packs. I will need this person to return to me with certain information. If they don’t I will kill them. If they fail to gather the information, I will kill them. If they betray me by not attending…”

“You’ll kill them.” The rogue that wasn’t as affected by Reuben’s aura cuts in, a humorous look on his face.

“Are you volunteering?” I respond with a snarl for interrupting my alpha king.

“Depends on the payment, the reward for completing the task.”

“You get to remain alive.” Reuben roars, reminding this young wolf who exactly was in charge here. He can’t be more than sixteen, if that, but there was something about him. Something that oozed power even from such a young age. He didn’t seem like the typical down and out rogue.

“Me…I’ll do it!” One of the other rogues puts his hand up.

“What happens if we don’t put ourselves forward.” Another one asks only to be laughed at by the cocky little shit that was becoming more vocal.

“You won’t step out of here alive…like he said, he only needs one.”

“You seem very accustomed to the mind set of an alpha, what’s your name?” I growl, my voice sounding more animalistic than human.

“My name can be traced, I won’t speak it amongst a crowd of treacherous rogues. If I live to carry out your orders then I’ll speak it.”

“Is this kid for real?” Reuben’s voice enters my head as a slight snigger.

“Yep, I think so.” I respond instantly.

“I’ll tell you what, I’ll let you all decide. You all came with the clear instructions to kill, so I’ll let you at least have a chance to decide your own fate.”

“What the fuck does that mean?” A rogue shouts out at Reuben as we already start to exit the cell door.

I knew exactly what it meant, Noah not so much. He was eyeing me with suspicion, trying to read me for a clue as to what Reuben meant.

“I’ll see you in a few hours then.” We hear the cocky rogue’s voice just as the door is locked behind us. A cold sensation taking over me, yet a level of excitement to find out if he would come out as the winner.

I’ll have to hide the after events away from Noah, this will go against his and Evelyn’s morals. But sometimes in a state of war, cruel decisions were made and only the strongest came out fighting. Because we were at war, the burned out ruins of the Lake House were evident of that. The pictures of the human soldiers armed with poisonous bullets sent to wipe out the Silver Moon pack, again, is what we are up against.

“Do I want to know what that was about?” Noah whispers to me as we both slow our walk, Reuben walking ahead.

“Honestly mate, no. I’ll make sure things are sorted. Better for you that you stay clear of the cells for a day or two.”

I’ll have to liaise with our own warriors to organise the clean up operation. I can’t put the Silver Moon warriors in that position.
