The Legacy of the Alpha King: Hiding his Secret Twins

Chapter 140 by Ebony Woods

We were sitting at the kitchen table, just the four of us. Beatrice had taken Harry home now that I was home to help Donnie with Baby Harper.

This felt like the right time to tell them. I know it was early but I wanted them to be involved from the early stages, for us to feel like the close family that we were becoming.

“Mum and I happen to have some news .” Reuben excitedly announces.

“Oh?” Elspeth hums as she bites into her third cupcake…honestly where does she put it.

“Yes…we had a new photo taken this morning.” I pull my copy of the scan picture out of my pocket and place it on the table.

“We are going to have a baby.” I smile at them both, nervous of how they would react.

“A baby?” Elspeth shrieks spitting crumbs out everywhere. A few hitting my in the eye.

“Elspeth…” I reprimand her as I wipe at my eye.

“Sorry Mummy. Is it a boy or girl?”

“We don’t know yet.”

“Where will we live? Here or the Red Stone pack?”

Rex’s asks, as he calmly picks up the scan picture and looks at it intently.

“We will buy some land in-between our pack grounds and make it our main family base.” Reuben informs them, something that hopefully would ideally reduce our concerns in being too far away from our own pack. At least half way in-between both, we were making conscious efforts to put measures in place.

“But what about Harry, I can’t not see him.”

I can’t help but laugh at Elspeth’s outburst.

“Don’t worry sweetheart, he can come visit.” I reassure her but I’m not too convinced.

“Sounds good. The baby’s a boy by the way…” Rex states confidently as he places the scan picture back on the table.

“How can you be so sure?” Reuben quirks an eyebrow at him. Rex takes a moment before answering, was he trying to think of his response?

“He has a good football kick in the photo….”

“Girls can play football Rex…not just boys.” She huffs as she snatches the scan from out of his grip.

I was grateful for Miss Smith to break up Rex’s and Elspeth’s quarrelling about football. She took them aside to do some phonics work giving me some time to go rest. It’s actually a bath I longed for.

Walking past my office I notice the door ajar, both Pierce and Nate inside. Pushing on the door, I feel Reuben’s disapproval through the mate bond of me not going up to rest like I said I would.

“What’s all this?” My office was a complete mess. I’m talking maps, CCTV pictures, public transport schedules and a police radio on the go.

“Evelyn…” They both look to me, both looking tired but pleased with my being back home.

“What’s going on?”

“Yes sorry, your office is looking a bit messy isn’t it.” Nate scratches the top of his head looking at the mess that once was my neat, well organised office.

“We didn’t know where to start, she has no bank account, no digital ID…we are having to do this old school style.” Nate continues as Pierce has barely kept his eyes away from the maps.

I walk over to him, placing my hand on his arm. He was desperate to find her, but I think she needed the space to think and grow into a young adult. Hopefully then they would be more patient with one another.

“How do you find somebody who doesn’t exist?” Pierce sighs as he turns to look at me.

“With patience. She just needs time. Pierce, you need to go home…”

“No…”

“Pierce, you need some normality otherwise this will eat you up. We will help, we will keep looking too but you need to trust the Moon Goddess. You need to keep your pack safe. That’s you’re job as their alpha. Luna or no Luna, you are their alpha first.” I gently remind him of his duty to his people.

“You can always join our alliances? That will keep it safe.” Reuben smirks, trying to add some humour into the dark atmosphere.

“Not a chance.” Pierce barks back.

“You say that now but you are technically my Brother-in-law, you’ll come around.”

“Maybe you’re right…I just want to find her before Odin does. He’s still a threat to her.”

“I can handle my Father Pierce, you go back. I’ll interrogate the rogues, they won’t be able to fight my aura. I won’t give them the chance.”
