The Legacy of the Alpha King: Hiding his Secret Twins

Chapter 136 by Ebony Woods

“Evelyn what’s wrong?” Noah’s voice rushes into my head.

“Is the baby okay? That’s why I couldn’t shift to fight them off….that’s when I realised I was pregnant.”

He stares at me, whether from the shock of the revelation or the thought of me fighting them both off without my wolf and pregnant I’m not sure.

“Sweetheart, what’s wrong…Noah?” Reuben growls out, his aura starting to circle the hospital room.

“You’re pregnant?” Noah automatically enters into Doctor mode as he hastily heads to the far corner of the room where he pulls on some machines, pulling an ultrasound machine out from the back.

“I’ve lost it haven’t I?” I start to sob, my hands going to my mouth, only for the mask to be in the way.

As soon as he lifts my hospital gown up over my stomach, Reuben growls at Noah before realising what he is doing.

Noah turns on the monitor, applying the cold jelly to my tummy before commencing the scan.

It seems to take an eternity to search for life in my womb, leaving me to think the worse has happened.

As soon as I hear the fast heartbeat my panic starts to quieten down. Noah turns the monitor around, presenting our baby to Reuben and I.

“Wait…are we…” Reuben looks at the monitor, before looking back at me in complete perplexity.

“Congrats you are pregnant.” Noah sings out seemingly happy with the baby’s initial checks to congratulate us.

“I’ll go set up some tests and give you both a moment.”

As Noah leaves the room, Reuben cups my face before kissing me on my forehead..

“Oh Evelyn I am so happy. I promise to be there for everything, I want to be there for everything. This won’t be like last time. I promise.”

“I know…” I respond through the mind -link, enjoying how thrilled he was.

“I’ll buy that land, build us our family home. The twins can have their own bedrooms, and the baby can have their own room too. I’ll build plenty of rooms so they don’t argue. Rooms for visitors also. Oh Evelyn, I thought I lost you. Now we are adding to our family.”

I couldn’t help but giggle, as much as it pained me, from how ecstatic he was.

He was right, this wouldn’t be like last time. We would share every moment together, every milestone. He’ll be there for every step. He would protect us all.

But there was still a threat out there. A threat that lingered even over him, over his life. I couldn’t let our family go through any more heartache, be put in danger again. I had to find the threat and eliminate it. I couldn’t rest until we did.

“Your father Reuben? Any news?”

“Let’s not discuss that now…”

“Yes now Reuben, I can’t bring a baby into a world where they could be out at risk. What if he kidnaps the baby?” My mind was going too fast, my body calling for me to rest yet the worry of what Odin was capable of scared me. What if he had Liberty by now?

“We need to launch an attack, we need to find him. Please Reuben, let’s get this done. Then we can rest and enjoy our lives more peacefully.”

“Sweetheart, we are both the leaders of alliances. I don’t think we will ever have peaceful lives. But okay, I’ll get my IT guys to start working on finding him again. He’ll have to be somewhere.”

I didn’t like the idea of poking a fire that was starting to go out by itself. But Odin would only come back to us two months, ten months or ten years down the line. He would be a constant threat whilst still alive. I need him completely gone, for Elspeth, for Rex and for the baby.

They needed to grow up without the threat of being kidnapped or being attacked. They would have that anyway being who they are, being our children.

But at least this threat we knew and can do something about.
