The Last Royal Luna

(Book 3) – Chapter 19

“It’s been three months since we killed the last of the vampires and witches hiding out near us. Nothing since then,” raged Alpha Roger. “We need to get back to our packs in case they decide to take them out. I just don’t understand how they could have vanished.” He was pacing back and forth in our living room.

His mate and beta were agreeing from their seats on our couch. I knew how stressed the Beta was because he had voiced this a few times. He also wanted to get back to his mate and baby. They were here for a bit in the beginning but sent them back to stay with her parents. I wasn’t the safest to be around and I told him that so he would send them home. The alpha’s mate was a witch and some of her coven was here, so she wasn’t as stressed but she felt her mate’s pain. We hadn’t become close since the couple met each other but she was a loyal and strong Luna for Roger.

“I don’t know what caused them to go into hiding but I have this gut feeling it is going to be bad,” I admitted as I walked back into the room with Colette. Edgar was right behind me with a crying Charles. “Sorry, guys. They apparently think I have an endless supply of milk and they have bottomless pits for a stomach.”

Roger walked up and got Colette from me. “Awe, she just wanted to see her favorite Alpha,” He teased as he blew raspberries on her tummy making her giggle. “You are the cutest, yes you are. You think I am the handsomest alpha ever, right. Oh yea.”

We all just stared until he looked up at us. “Awe, does Alpha Roger need a pep talk on his looks?”

He glared at me. “No one better mention this to anyone. I have a reputation to keep.” We all just rolled our eyes at him.

Koda came back with two warmed up bottles and we got the little ones quiet. It let me think about what he was saying. I had wondered what made them back off. They had to know about the twins by now which should have been enough reason for an all out attack among so many others. A few pack members from each pack along with a few witches to put the same barrier up.

“Melanie’s dad and mother are dead, correct?” I asked Roger. He nodded. “No one with him survived so we have no way of knowing if it was planned from him or if it was set up by the enemies King and Queen. Have we had any eyes on them?”

“Nope, not since the fight when your parents were around. We know they are still alive since the king is a vampire and the Queen is a dark witch who steals others life force to stay alive and young.” Asher sneered.

“So she sounds vain? Huh…” An idea popped into my head. “I wonder how much it would take for her to either send another attack or for her to how herself? Only weak leaders hide behind their forces….” I smiled and bit my bottom l*p.

Knox walked up and pulled my l*p away from my l*p. “I know that look and it is never a good thing.”

I laughed and pushed him away. “I want to call her out. Make her seem like a weak leader and make her followers question her. If they haven’t seen her, how do they know she is ruling and not someone doing it for her? How do they know if she is the one ruling beside this king? She would have to show herself and we would get a better read on the situation.”

“Doing that might make her put all her troops toward us.” Koda thought out loud and everyone agreed with him.

‘Hey Princess Ryder, a new arrival says she has a message for you. She will only speak with you.’ One of the front gate warriors linked me.

‘What is her name? Will she at least tell you that?’ I stepped back while they guys discussed my idea.

‘She said she has no name. She knew your mother and has something important to tell you and when she has done that she can go die peacefully.’ He responded.

What the hell? I looked in on Blue to see what she though and instead found out she had started to act a bit unsettled and it made me worried this new visitor wasn’t one that was on our side. I looked at the guys and it seemed he didn’t link them after me. I would have to discuss it with them.

‘I will be there shortly. I don’t know that person so let them know I will have a few people with me but will stand back and not interfere. Let them know.’ I linked back.

“There is someone at the gate asking to speak with me and only me. I need most of you to stay here with the twins and have Alistair bring Melanie and the baby here.” I looked at Koda and he nodded. I was so glad at that moment once we were all mated the guys who link any wolf from any pack within some distance.

Asher, Knox, Kane, and Roger went with me to the gates. I knew my other mates wanted to go but they knew the kids were first priority since I could defend myself. I told Roger that after we deal with this I think he should take some of his pack back home and see how things are going. It will take time to make a plan and find the perfect opportunity to put it all in place.

“Listen she only wants to talk to me so hang back and let me hear her out. She says she knew my mother and Blue is acting weird but not like this lady wants to kill us weird.” I looked at the guys and they nodded. They let me walk in front of them.

When we made it to the gate the warriors had her standing outside the gate with it open. She looked so frail and weak but when you looked into her eyes you saw her strength. From her aura she was a witch but more powerful then I had ever felt before.

“How may I help you? Would you like to sit down?” I asked her as I finally stopped right inside the gate.

“No, thank you. Your mother made me promise to keep an eye on you and to tell you something no one else knew if the circumstances were what they are.” She pulled out an old scroll and handed it to me. “Your mother and I became fast friends on a secret mission to save some pack members from a dark coven. We found this scroll in the leaders hut and took it back with us when we saw that it mentioned royal b***d.”

I opened the scroll but couldn’t read it. It was in Latin so Melissa or another witch would have to tell me what it says. I did see a drawing about a horned monster, and it looked like two babies. Twins?

“I can’t read this. I will have to have someone tell me what it says. Do you know?” I asked her and handed her back the scroll.

She denied take the scroll before speaking. “I have it memorized. It says: The Brother and Sister born together will be taken a part. They will be used to fight against one another causing a war big enough to shake the ground and raise the dead. The horned monster will come at night and take the first. The second born child will remain lost and alone without the other holding back their pain until it explodes. The child’s mother will be lost until it is too late to be found. Keep them together or all are dead. Watch out for friends who seem too good to be foe, looks can be deceiving in more ways than one.” She gulped. “Some of the scroll is missing but the end part mentions another child who plays a huge role in this not happening and them being a hybrid.

I stumbled back almost falling but Knox caught me. “My babies? Someone is after my babies? They want to hurt them? NO ONE WILL TOUCH MY CHILDREN!” I screamed. I wanted to hurt this witch for telling me this but I was glad I knew about the scroll. I needed to keep them safe even if it meant my death.

“What did you tell her?” Kane yelled at the witch. She just looked sad.

“The truth. Now my promise has been kept and I can die in peace. You are a strong princess who will be the best queen to date. Stay strong and know that your parents loved you before you were even conceived and still love you today. They watch over you and your family.” With that she turned and walked away.

“Stop, why can’t you help us?” Roger yelled but in the next second she disappeared.

“What happened, baby? It was like she used a silencing spell.” Asher asked pulling me into his arms.

“The scroll…Melissa needs to read it and translate it..its a threat to our babies and I think hers…Keep them safe…” I gulped and squeezed him harder. “Take me home, right now, please. I need my babies in my arms.”

They all nodded and we took off running. Asher ran with my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. I held on as tight as possible and kept sobbing into his neck. Why can’t anything just stop and be good for a while? Why does this stupid s**t keep piling up on us?
