The Last Royal Luna

(Book 2) – Chapter 57

“We are almost there. Are you ready?” Edgar whispered as I slowly woke up. I had fallen asleep with my head on his shoulder a good two hours ago.

“As ready as I will ever be. I am glad we will be home soon. I need a night with my parents to just be an eighteen-year-old before the hard s**t happens.” He kissed my cheek and hugged me tight.

The guys had told us all what they knew about this alpha and the pack. I had a good gut feeling about them but I didn’t want to count my chickens before they hatched. I would love one more win and return with an even bigger ally. Most of the bigger packs wouldn’t even agree to see us nor would they listen about taking on the vampires and witches. Staying out of the fight doesn’t help anyone but I was sick of how many times I have repeated that with no one caring in some of these packs.

One of the guys must have called ahead to tell them how far away we were and what vehicles we were driving since it only took about ten minutes to show our ids and be waved on. That was the smoothest check in we have had this entire trip and that makes me a bit sad about how distrusting wolves had become. Or angry that power had become so important that we started turning on each other.

“Anyone else wondering why that was so easy and if we should be getting ready for an attack?” Kane asked as he kept his eyes on the woods.

“Andrew called the Alpha to let him know where we were. He was worried about any extra stress causing issues with Melissa. He is also a bit concerned on how overprotective Ryder is going to be while Melissa is pregnant. He didn’t want her to take out the guards for doing their jobs.” Asher grimaced when he told us the last part like he regretted even telling us.

“Me? Overprotective? I have no idea what you are talking about.” I shook my head before looking out the window. I knew they were telling the truth but I wasn’t sorry.

“Uh huh….” Edgar teased as we finally pulled up to the pack house.

We parked in front of the stairs where the Alpha and Luna were waiting with handful of other pack members. I did a total nerd move by looking up at them through the window almost leaving a nose size smudge from pressing so hard. I couldn’t help it. They were smiling and joking with each other making me feel more relaxed and even happy that we were there. I even felt Blue’s walls come down and that was a feat in itself. I sure hope they ended up being friends and allies because I would hate to fight someone who makes me feel this good before even introducing ourselves.

We had already discussed how we would be presenting ourselves as a unit and that included waiting until we were all out of the cars to walk up the stairs to meet the leaders. Alistair thought a united front would help show our strength and level the playing field. We all agreed since we didn’t want a repeat of any of the past meetings. It also helped Melissa with her fear of anything happening to the baby and her renewed fear of wolves or twisted witches. Staying together made it possible to her in the middle of us making sure she was ok and helping her relax a bit. I also made a promise to ask the Luna here about seeing a doctor and the use of an ultrasound machine.

“Welcome to our pack, Forest Fang. I am Alpha Jerrick and this is my mate, Luna Bonnie.” The power in his voice was the strongest I have come across on this trip but also comforting to Blue. It didn’t make her submissive, it made her respected and relaxed. “My three boys are working the perimeter but will be done before dinner. They are excited to meet some more Alphas and some of them being brothers.”

“Thank you for having us.” Andrew stepped up and shook Jerricks hand. He was voted to be the main point of contact since he had already spoken with them twice. “It is nice to put the face to the voice. I am Andrew.”

“Oh, Yes. Thank you for keeping us updated on your travels. We do have another visiting Alpha but you probably won’t be meeting him.” His smile was a bit forced. The Luna coughed into her hand but I am pretty sure it was to cover up her saying something about the other Alpha. “You and Asher are Oliver’s children, correct?”

“Yes, we share DNA with Oliver.” Asher stepped forward. “Our older sister is now the Alpha of our pack.”

“What happened to your father and why is a female your Alpha? Did she win a fight with him?” I couldn’t get a read on his tone about the female Alpha part.

The Luna slapped his arm. “Let them introduce themselves before trying to run them off with question after question.” She nodded toward Andrew to start introducing us.

“Behind us we have Edgar, Knox, Kane, Ryder, Melissa, and Alistair.” He pointed to each of us as he said our name.

Nice to meet you all. Now before we head in for lunch and more questions, care to tell me why a hybrid and witch are with you?” He kept his eyes on Edgar more than Melissa which she looked thankful for.

“Because Edgar is my mate and on our side. Melissa is mated to my Beta and our speaker when she meets with covens to help us with the war that is going to be happening.” I spoke up before the guys could. I guess I was a tad bit overprotective of my family but I won’t admit that to these butt nuggets.

“Your mate? Your Beta? I thought Alpha Oliver sent you.” His eyebrow rose concentrating on just me which has my hackles rising.

Andrew gave me a look telling me to calm the hell down before turning toward the Alpha and Luna. “I apologize. She is a bit protective especially since Melissa is pregnant. We are all excited about it and can’t wait to be uncles.”

The Luna squealed. “A baby? Have you seen a doctor? We could have the one we have see you. That is what we will do along with an ultrasound…” she went off onto a tangent with Jerrick looking at her fondly.

“Bonnie, my dear, I need you to focus.” She turned toward him and she had the biggest smile on her face. I looked at Mel and she was smiling just as much. That was a great reaction and I was so thankful for it.

“OH, yes. Sorry dear.” She just kept smiling at Mel.

“Before we head in for lunch tell me what happened to Oliver and why you are visiting us. I already have one Alpha I can’t trust on my land. I would prefer not to add you all to that list.” He seemed to get taller and more intimidating which was making Blue mad. Her relaxed state was gone.

“Oliver is dead. He tried to kill me when I mated with his two sons and Blake. I have too many things to attend to before I could ever be a decent Alpha so I gave the position to their sister. She is actually one of the better Alphas I have met and is still just learning the ropes of everything.” I felt my guys crowd around me but kept my eyes forward waiting for their judgement.

“How many mates do you have?” The Luna was wide eyed looking at all the guys.

“All the guys are mated to me minus Alistair.”

The Luna walked down the stairs toward me silently. I could feel Blue stirring before starting to threat to beat a b***h if she touches me out of anger. Bonnie stopped in front of me before sniffing close to me. She stepped back, tears started to rain down her cheeks before looking back at her husband nodding her head.

“Ryder, daughter of Teresa and James. King and Queen before they were killed in the war.” He stated as fact not even asking.

“How?” Was all Knox asked as the circle the guys had around me tightened keeping me safe.

“They were our best friends and sons god parents. I have missed them everyday and I hated that we couldn’t contact you in case someone was still watching.” The Luna pushed Andrew out of the way and grabbed me into a bear hug. “I am so sorry. I am so glad you are here. I have pictures, videos, and all sorts of things about your parents. Please stay and let us get to know you. I know we will also join you in your fight even if the big lug up there tries to act like he is going to stay neutral.” I giggled and hugged her back.

“Well since someone made the packs choice for us,” He winked at us. “Let’s go eat.”
