(Book 2) – Chapter 23
The guys thought that since I apologized several times in the car for being such a b***h about them wanting to take care of me that I would go back on not sleeping in one of their rooms at the hotel. I explained that I understood where they came from but they took it way too far since we were all in the dark about all of this. No one understood anything about royals since my parents were the last ones before me. Most of the people who knew anything about them died in the battle or were taken prisoner where they died years later. Hopefully after this war we can begin searching for the missing text and items of the royals.
They ended up pouting during dinner and breakfast before I had enough. I told Melissa to find a theme park on the drive so we can plan it out and she found a Six Flags about three hours into the drive. We bought tickets, packed the cars, and headed out. I was excited to forget everything and just have some actual bonding time.
Once we got inside the park it felt like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders and I smiled bigger than I had in a long time. My mates looked the same. Melissa turned into a giggling machine who acted like a toddler with a sugar high but I was all for it. I encouraged it with some actual sugar with handing her candy all day but it got taken away before too long from an upset Alistair. Oops, he had to chase his mate around and he was not happy. Blake and Knox side eyed me a few times probably thinking I was going to do the same thing. I was half tempted but my focus was on the big rides. The bigger the drop the better.
“Please tell me we paid extra for the line skipping pass thing.” I looked at the guys and they nodded. I did a happy dance before grabbing Asher’s hand and running toward the closest ride.
“Slow down. We have time to ride them all.” He panted out.
“But do we have time to ride them twice? I need to make that happen.” I heard at least two of my mates deny that it would happen, but I needed it to happen. Blue was scared about the rides but curious about what it felt like to fall that far.
After riding all the rides once I let Blake, Kane, and Asher out of riding anymore ride. Blake had already thrown up twice and Asher freaked out on the last ride. Who knew doing three loops was three too many for the poor guy. They did enjoy the water rides so that is a plus.
The rest of the time was rides, eating, and just hanging out. We got some great pictures in to send to family and friends via text to show them we weren’t all work while gone. They had worried we would work so much we would burn out or start constantly fighting. We all got good responses and I even got pictures of my family making silly faces. It helped lift my mood even more.
“Hey, Melissa. Have you felt like you were being watched a few times today?” I asked her as we were walking out to the car. It was after dark and the park had just closed.
“A couple times but I figured it was one of the guys trying to be over protective or some shifter who smelled us before seeing us.” She looked around at the different cars but only saw families getting into them.
“Yea. I guess you are right. In my head I imagines panther ninja shifters, but we all know I have an overactive imagination.” She laughed and agreed.
“Ryder you should do a children’s book and I will the art work for it. You tell great stories to your sisters when we spend time with them.” Asher smiled at me bashfully.
“You draw? Why don’t I know this about you?” I gasped.
“Probably because his art book is full of different drawings of you!” Andrew teased. Asher glowered at him before his cheeks turned red in embarrassment.
“Awe. That is cute, baby. I want to see them!” I grabbed his arm and put my chin on his shoulder to see his response.
“Maybe if you come to my room for a bit.” He winked and I rolled my eyes.
Before I could reply we heard a car starting to speed up but didn’t see one. We all looked around but nothing was out of the ordinary. We were close to our cars so we just all decided to make a run for it. Right before we made it a car was close enough that they turned their brights on and it blinded us. We had to jump out of the way so they wouldn’t run us over. I landed on a big patch of gravel, scraping my elbows and hands. It hurt like the dickens.
“They are turning around. Who the hell are these people?” Knox growled out. He limped over to me and helped me up.
“Get in the cars, Fast.” I yelled as I unlocked one of the vehicles so we could jump in.
The car revved it’s engine with the driver watching us from afar. We all made it inside before they took their foot off the break and zoomed right at us. They swerved at the last minute and just slid down the side of our SUV taking out our driver’s side mirror.
“s**t. Let’s get the hell out of here.” Blake yelled. Asher, Blake, and Knox had jumped in with me. Andrew, Kane, and Edgar got into the other with just Melissa and Alistair in theirs.
‘Blue could you tell if the driver was human or supernatural?’ She shook her head no but kept close behind my eyes so she could pay attention to my surroundings while I freaked the hell out.
“Did anyone see if they were human? Shifter? Witch or vampire?” I looked at the guys. None of them knew. I used the walkie talkie to ask the others and it ended up with Edgar having the answer. He saw the b***d red eyes and could smell rot coming from the car.
“So it was a vampire? What the hell. They have never used a vehicle to take us out nor have they tried alone.” Asher was running his hands through his hair hard enough I thought he was going to yank it all out and end up bald.
