Chapter 6
Chapter 6 There’s More to This Woman Than Meets the Eye
However, this woman figured out that someone did something to him just from a few pokes of her needles. She truly was something else.
Nonetheless, all this wasn’t important. Levi didn’t need any help.
He let go of Rebecca and leaned against the headboard once again.
“If you don’t want to die young, you should leave this place as soon as possible.”
“I’m not leaving. We’re married now, and we have a marriage contract. My grandmother told me since young that I should be a credible person. I mustn’t go back on my word without good reason.”
Moreover, Maurice wouldn’t agree to it.
Now, Rebecca would stay in the Foley Residence and investigate her grandmother’s death while also treating Levi’s legs. When it was time for her to leave, she wouldn’t feel like she owed him too much.
Levi’s gaze was stern. “I’m paralyzed from the waist down. I cannot give you what you want.”
“I don’t care about that,” answered Rebecca without much thought.
The man was a little upset. Did she not care, or did she think that he couldn’t do it?
Just then, Jacob knocked on the door.
“Mr. Levi, Old Mr. Foley is asking for Miss Rebecca.”
Levi didn’t say a word as he focused his gaze on Rebecca.
This was the perfect excuse for Rebecca to leave.
“I’ll head downstairs now. Don’t draw the curtains again. It won’t help your legs.”
With that, she got up from the bed, then gathered the silver needles on the floor and placed them back in her small suitcase. She had asked Cameron Hayes to search all over Yoreco for those needles, and they were extremely expensive. She almost ruined them thanks to Kayla.
After Rebecca left, Levi gazed at the sunlight on the other side of the window, which he hadn’t seen in a long while. It was still a little too bright for his eyes, so he called for a servant.
“What are your orders, Mr. Levi?”
“Draw the curtains.”
“Understood.” The servant walked forward and reached out to draw the curtains.
“Never mind. You can leave now.”
“Understood.” The servant couldn’t understand what Levi was thinking, but it was quite obvious that the young mistress was indeed capable.
After all, she could convince Levi, who hadn’t seen the sun in forever, to keep the curtains open.
“Get Percy here.”
“Understood.”
The servant then asked Levi’s assistant, Percy Clarkson, to enter the room.
“Mr. Foley.”
“Get as much information as you can on Rebecca Chambers. I want every single detail, trivial or not.”
His sixth sense told him there was more to this woman than met the eye.
On his way upstairs, Percy spared a fleeting glance at Rebecca in the living room. Her appearance and outfit looked rather… questionable.
What else could he dig up about a woman like that? He heard that she was from a village.
“Old Mr. Foley chose her, so she must be fine.”
Levi lowered his head to undo the buttons on his sleeves. As his voice turned deeper, the look in his eyes sharpened.
“If she were a normal woman, she wouldn’t have noticed that someone harmed me on purpose.”
Percy was stunned. “Do you mean that she noticed something off about your legs?”
“Get moving!”
Rebecca had just arrived downstairs and was about to enter Maurice’s room when a woman called out to her.
“You there. Are you Levi’s new wife?”
Rebecca lowered her gaze, feeling a little exasperated as she thought, Here comes another one. How many people are there in the Foley Family?
She turned around to look at the girl in front of her. The girl was around 20 years old, and she was decked out in a limited-edition outfit. Her aura was excellent, and she wore her hair in two trendy buns. Her skin was pale, and she looked a little like Levi, so she was quite pretty.
The Foleys had quite good-looking genes.
However, the woman looked at Rebecca as if she were looking at an enemy.
Jacob had called Phoebe Foley over on purpose. Maurice pampered the third young lady since she was young, and she couldn’t handle even a slightly raised voice. Her temper was horrible as well, and save for Levi, no one in the family could control her. Even Maurice turned a blind eye to her behavior.
Rebecca curved her lips. “And you are?”
Phoebe coughed gently a few times. There was an unspeakable arrogance in her eyes.
“I am the third young lady in this house, Phoebe Foley. I am also the person Levi loves the most. I’m warning you, don’t think that you can command anyone just because you married into the family. You’re not worthy.”
As she spoke, she studied Rebecca, then couldn’t help but stick out her tongue.
“Also, since you married into the family, you’ll also be representing the Foleys. Let’s not talk about your appearance, but look at your clothes! I can’t believe people are still wearing floral clothes these days. What an eyesore! Mr. Tanner, take her to my room.”
