Chapter 5
With Luke trotting alongside me, I walked towards the palace to see the prince. Luke seems to like Prince Frost, as he always got excited whenever he saw him. As we approached the palace, I could see Prince Frost standing in the courtyard. “Good morning, sire, I thought you said that you couldn’t come outside,” I asked him with a raised eyebrow. “As long as I’m within the palace gates, it’s fine,” he replied, smiling. “I’ve brought Luke back,” I said. At the sound of his name, Luke ran up to us and sat down.
The prince grinned as he crouched down to scratch Luke behind the ears. “Hey there, boy. Did you have a good time with my friend here?” he asked, looking up at me. I nodded, smiling at the sight of them interacting. “He’s a great companion. I’m sure he enjoyed sleeping with Casper,” I said. “So that explains why he has so much hay in his fur,” he said, scratching Luke’s head.
After some time playing with Luke, he stood up and gestured for us to follow him inside. “Well, why don’t we all have some breakfast together? I haven’t had a chance to eat yet either,” he said, leading the way to the dining hall. I nodded gratefully, realizing that I had skipped breakfast in my haste to get the tree. We sat down at the table, and the servants brought out a delicious spread of food. As we ate, Prince Frost and I discussed our plans for the day. I was going to help him get the decorations from the store room, and he would use his powers to create snowmen and other wintery decorations for the palace grounds.
“I have some new techniques I’ve been working on, and I think they’ll come in handy today,” Prince Frost said with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. I smiled, knowing that his powers were a sight to behold. “I’m excited to see what you have in store,” I said. As we enjoyed our breakfast, we discussed our plans for the rest of the day. The first task on our list was to decorate the grand Christmas tree in the palace. Prince Frost had already picked out the ornaments and lights, and we were excited to get started. We talked about how we could place the tree in the palace’s main hall and how he could use his powers to create intricate ice sculptures to adorn the branches.
“We’ll need to make sure we have plenty of lights and ornaments as well,” I said, thinking out loud. “And perhaps we can add some ribbons and bows for a festive touch.” He nodded in agreement, his mind already racing with ideas. “Yes, and I can use my powers to create a snowflake-shaped star for the top of the tree,” he said excitedly. As we stood up to leave, the he suddenly paused. “I just had an idea. What if we also built some snowmen to decorate the gardens and courtyard?” “That’s a great idea!” I exclaimed. “And with your frost powers, you could make them come alive.” He grinned. “I like the way you think. Let’s do it.”
After finishing our breakfast, we walked towards the palace’s grand hall, where the Christmas tree was already standing tall. The servants had already brought out the decorations from the store room and placed them next to the tree on a table. While he was using his powers to carefully hang the ornaments and lights on the tree, I helped him position them just right. After we finished decorating the tree, Prince Frost made the star for the top of the tree which was very impressive. As we finished up, we stood back to admire our work. Prince Frost clapped his hands together in delight. “It looks perfect,” he said.
After admiring the beautifully decorated Christmas tree,we decided to join the palace servants to help them with the rest of the decorations. We started with the ballroom, which was the grandest and largest room in the palace. The servants had already started hanging up the garlands and wreaths, but there was still a lot of work to be done.
Prince Frost and I helped hang up the decorations and put up the lights, making sure everything was perfect. We worked tirelessly for hours, moving from room to room, including the throne room, the staircase, and other areas in the palace. As we worked, we chatted with the servants and learned more about their lives and duties. They were all very friendly and welcoming, and it was clear that they took great pride in their work. We worked tirelessly throughout the morning, and by lunchtime, we had transformed the inside of the palace into a winter wonderland. Prince Frost and I sat down to enjoy a well-deserved meal, discussing our progress and plans for the rest of the day. As we finished our discussion, Luke ran up to us, wagging his tail in excitement. It was time to get back to work.
After lunch, we headed outside to begin our decorating work for the rest of the palace. {Prince Frost used his powers to create intricate snowflake designs on the palace walls and doors, while I hung up festive wreaths and garlands. His new techniques were indeed impressive, and it was amazing to see how he could use his powers to create such intricate designs. He even used his powers to make the snowmen come to life and dance around the courtyard. As the snowmen danced around us, we couldn’t help but join in and have some fun. It was a beautiful sight to see the palace grounds come to life with the snowmen playful movements.
Once the snowmen had settled down, we continued with our decorating. We strung up lights and placed ornaments on the trees. After some time, the servants joined us outside, and they helped us add fairy lights to the balconies and windowsills, which created a warm and inviting glow that could be seen from miles away. While we were working, I asked the prince what he would wear tomorrow to greet the Queen and Princess. “I really want to make a good impression on them,” the prince said, smoothing his hair back. “I was thinking of wearing my blue and silver robe with my ice crown and boots. What do you think?” I nodded approvingly. “I think that will look very regal and fitting for the occasion.” Luke barked in agreement, and we all shared a laugh.
As the day drew to a close, both of us were exhausted but satisfied with our work. We had finally finished decorating the palace. Everywhere we looked; there were twinkling lights, sparkling ornaments, and beautiful garlands. Prince Frost looked around with a satisfied smile on his face and turned to me, saying, “Thank you for your help, Alexis. The palace looks beautiful, and I couldn’t have done it without you.” “It wasn’t I alone who had helped you; the servants deserve praise also,” I replied as I admired the palace. “You’re right; I’ll let them off early tonight and give them each a raise,” he replied.
Prince Frost’s generosity and kindness towards his servants were truly admirable. He valued their hard work and dedication, and he knew that their efforts had played a significant role in making the palace look so beautiful. As we walked towards the grand hall, he called out to the servants and announced that they would be given a raise and that he would allow them to leave early to spend time with their families. The servants were overjoyed, and some even hugged Prince Frost, thanking him for his generosity. It was weird to see him being hugged by the servants, but it was heartwarming to see how much he cared about the well-being of his staff.
