The Kiss that Sparked it All

Chapter 2832

Chapter 2832
Francis couldn’t help but revealed her the truth. “If it weren’t for Nolan swooping in just in time, you might’ve been in a real bad
spot. I don’t know who’s behind this, but you’ve been way too careless.”
Regina was speechless, blindsided by the low blow someone had dealt her. No wonder she had felt all woozy climbing the stairs
to that room, her brain felt like a lump of wet concrete, unable to function properly. She managed to ask, dry-mouthed, “So it
wasn’t all in my head? Nolan really was here? Where is he now?”
For some reason, she felt that Nolan would have the full scoop on what had happened.
Sighing inwardly, Regina knew her dad’s perspective would always have a tint of bias, what with his new family and all.
“What’s the point in chasing after him? He said you were just friends, nothing more. There were only the two of you in that room;
did he try to harass you?” Francis’ words were laced with irritation, which made Regina furrow her brow and cut him off. “Please
don’t talk about him like that. How could he be that kind of person? You said it yourself – I might not even be here talking to you,
sound and healthy, without his help. Dad, how could you say so about the man who saved me? Please, I just want to clear some
things. up with him, and here you are speaking so foully.”
Seeing his darling daughter defend Nolan right after waking up riled up Francis even more.
“Do you trust a stranger over your own father?
Regina’s frown deepened as she still felt a bit unwell. “That’s not what I mean, Dad. Ple tell me who was there. I need to get to
the bottom of this myself.”
“Try to think about it. Have you been targeted at work recently? What else could have. ruffled someone’s feathers enough to
come after you? Not only do you need to dig deep but I’ll also uncover who dared to mess with my daughter. I won’t let them get
away with it.” Francis growled with a vengeance.
Regina interjected, “Dad, we live in a society governed by law, not fists.”
He sighed, “This journalist gig of yours, look where it’s gotten you. Nothing but pains and injuries. I’ve always said it’s not for you,
but you wouldn’t listen. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be the target of danger”

Regina turned away, knowing her father would seize any chance to persuade her to quit journalism, but how could she give up
her dream just like that?
“Enough, Dad. I need to rest. It’s late, and you should head home and get some sleep.” Francis was almost mad at his stubborn
daughter. But seeing her exhausted face and pale lips, his anger resigned.
“How could I possibly leave you on your own after what happened today? I upgraded your room to a private suite, and I’ll be right
next door if you need me.” he said with concern.
Regina knew about her dad’s picky sleeping habits; he wouldn’t rest well in any room that was not his own. She tried to persuade
him with a bit hesitation, “Dad, I’m not feeling that bad anymore. They’ve got nurses and doctors in the hospital. Look at the
shades under your eyes, Dad; you haven’t been resting well, have you? Please go home and get some sleep.”
