The Journal of Memories

Chapter Hotel

After about ten minutes of flying through the streets, they were dropping us off by my bike. Luna grabbed our backpack and the tablet. We both thanked them and wished them luck. Sgt. Lee looked over both of us one last time, “You guys try to stay out of sight when you can. Drive as much as you can tonight but when the morning hits, find a place and stay there. Everyone will be looking for you. I hope we never see each other again.”

We both nodded, watched the truck hover down the street and around the corner, out of sight. Macy instantly ran to the bike jumping into the sidecar.

She still knows her place.

I walked over and looked it over.

The keys are still in the ignition.

I threw my leg over waiting for Luna, “You coming?”

She turned on the tablet, watching the screen in front of her, “Yes... I just have to get our directions up.”

She swiped through a few screens then stopped at one. Her eyes widened. I looked at it, seeing the three pictures of the brains I saw when we were in the cages, “Luna, what is that?”

She shook her head, “I am not sure... but we should get going. We can look at all this stuff when we find a place to stay... What is your dad’s name?”

“Thomas Foster.”

She scrolled through some more screens, scanning over each one, “Ah, here we are... Dr. Thomas Foster... it says he works at TechnoLab in the Upper West Side. We are going to have to be careful, it is by Central Park.”

I laughed, “I am always careful.”

She jumped on the bike behind me, “Yeah that’s why you drive so slow.”

I playfully elbowed her, “So mean.”

She chuckled.

I turned the key, starting my bike up. I enjoy the feeling of is rumbling behind me before driving off.

I have missed driving this thing around.

I drove down the streets, well sidewalk because it was clear of cars. I wanted to get as much distance as we could before the morning.

Luna told me the streets to take and the faster routes. We still didn’t want to get too close to Central Park yet.

The sun was just rising over buildings, shining a bit of light onto us as we drove. I slowly decreased my speed until my bike stopped. I looked behind me at Luna, “We should probably find a place to stay for the day and also to hide the bike. They are going to be out looking for us.”

She looked over at an alley, “We can hide it there, behind a dumpster, then go into one of these buildings.”

We all jumped off and pushed it behind the dumpster, like Luna had said. She was already checking the door to a building when I walked out of the alley. She smiled when the door opened, “Ben! I found a hotel!”

I run up to her, “Cool.”

We walked into the grand lobby.

This place looks expense.

Luna immediately jumped behind the front desk, looking through the keys, “Are you okay with getting a suite for the day?”

I chuckled, “That would be sweet.”

She threw a notepad from the desk at me, lucky I dodged it, “Get out of here with your horrible puns.”

She can throw some things with a lot of force.

She jumped back over the desks, “Let’s go. It’s up on the fifth floor, room 503.”

She looked over at these doors in the hallway, her eyes dimmed, “Oh these are elevators. Come on it’s faster than stairs.”

Elevators?

Shock.

Oh...

She pressed the buttons and the door opened for us. We both stepped in with Macy and waited as it took us up to the fifth floor. We all walked out when the doors opened again and Luna began to pull me towards the right room. We found it quickly and unlocked the door.

It was just as amazing as the house. It had a giant living area and a kitchen. Macy trotted in and jumped on one of the couches. Luna ran through the room. “Oh my god! This bedroom is huge! And the bathtub is like a swimming pool!”

I looked around myself, finding food in the kitchen.

We are going to be eating good today.

Luna came back out and opened the glass doors that lead out to the balcony. She practically screeched with excitement, “Ben! It is so beautiful out here!”

She rushed in grabbing my arm and pulling me with her, “Come on, you have to come outside!”

There were a couple of chairs on the balcony and a pretty view of the sun rising. It’s orangey glow turned the purplish sky more and more light with each passing minute.

She threw her arms around me, almost knocking me over, “I love this!”

Time to deal with her over excitement again. But at least she is happy.

I slowly unraveled her arms from me, letting out a yawn, “Hey... we should probably get some sleep. We are going to be travelling during the night from now on and I don’t want you to fall asleep.”

She nodded, “Yeah you are probably right.”

We both went inside, closing the doors. I took my spot on the couch, wrapping up in a blanket. Luna looked over at me weirdly, “You can have the bedroom, if you want.”

I shook my head, “I am fine. Good night or should I say morning.”

She laughed disappearing into the bedroom, “Morning then.”

Macy jumped from laying at my feet and disappeared into the bedroom too.

You little traitor!
