Chapter A Crazy Genius
We woke up and went downstairs to plan our day out. Luna began looking through the cabinets for stuff we might need. I went to the door and opened it finding the empty bowl Sgt. Lee left but there was also a package next to it. I picked it up bringing it inside.
“Luna! Sgt. Lee left us something.”
Dang this thing is heavy.
Luna came into the dining room and I placed the package on the table. She was the first to open it and pulled out our long lost item, that I in all honesty wished it stayed lost.
The gun.
Luna set it on the table pulling more stuff out that looked liked bullets, but not. She dumped out the package, spilling tons of them out. Luna saw how tense I was and laughed, “Don’t worry Ben. They are rubber. He helped us out. Nobody wants anyone to die and this will help us if we need to get away from them.”
I nodded and relaxed a bit.
That’s cool.
In the middle of all the rubber bullets, Luna pulled out a piece of paper, “It’s a note from him. It says: Luna and Ben. Stay safe. I am sure you have found all the rubber bullets I have left for you. They fit your gun so you don’t need to use real bullets. I know they are trying to get you but they are my friends and I would like it if they weren’t seriously injured. I know you guys are planning on finding Ben’s dad. Be careful. Dr. Simon has been starting up plans to find you guys. He was the one that told the news you were the cause of all this. Stay clear of him. He is dangerous. Good luck and save the city I know you can do it.”
Luna put down the note, “Well at least we have something to protect ourselves with now... We should probably still look for some supplies. In case we lose this though.”
Shock.
The emergency kit under the stairs.
I stood up, “My dad kept an emergency kit under the stairs.”
She followed me out of the kitchen and into the hall where the door was that lead under the stairs was. I opened the door, seeing the kit.
Thank god it is still here.
I pulled out the heavy bin into the hall and sat on the floor. I pushed the lid open. It had some pretty useful things in it. Canned food, bottled water, a first aid kit, gloves, flares, whistles, blankets, and flashlights.
Luna’s eyes widened, “I have a crazy idea about how we can use this stuff.”
“Oh no... what is it?”
She looked down, “Hear me out... what if we used the giant mob of people to our advantage.”
“What do you mean?”
She sighed, “So you know how Dr. Flora used it as a distraction?”
“Yes?”
“Well what if used it as an attraction?”
“Why would we do that?”
She grabbed the flares, “Okay so they want to get all these people into one place, right?”
I nodded my head.
“And we have to somehow get passed Central Park unnoticed to get to your dad.”
“Yes. Where are you going with this?”
“If we keep this mob close to us and Guards try to overtake us we can use the mob to our advantage... have the mob get between us and them. They will be too busy trying to get through all those people that we will be able to slip away to your dad. Another is they will see the mob and try to get them back into the perimeter they made. We can go unnoticed.”
“And how are we going to keep the mob close?”
“They don’t like noise to. So...”
I caught onto what she was saying, “We use the whistles to drive them out and when we need to be quiet we use the flashlights and flares.”
Her eyes brightened up, “Exactly.”
I shook my head, “It sounds like a crazy idea. Too crazy to work.”
“But if it does?...”
She is going to win this round again.
I shook my head again, “Then you are a crazy genius.”
She laughed and engulfed me into a bone breaking hug, “Awesome! Let’s load this stuff up and get going. We have a mob to find.”
She is definitely crazy. I wonder how she will act when we are actually surrounded by all those people again.
