The Indifferent Ex-Husband Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate

Chapter 113

Chapter 113

Brandon said, “You go ahead and get busy.”

“Alright.” Kent hesitated before backing out, and while closing the office door, he still couldn’t help but sneak a peek at Brandon. Brandon’s handsome face remained the eternal calm and seriousness, it was the Brandon from two years ago, yet it wasn’t.

Kent was also starting to get confused; he was beginning to regret being nosy that day.

As the office door closed, Kent couldn’t help but sigh.

Suddenly, a hand landed on his shoulder.

“What’s a young guy like you sighing about?”

Don’s voice followed suit.

Kent turned to see Don, whose hand was now on his shoulder. “Mr. Dempsey, what brings you here again?”

He hadn’t forgotten that time Don came to egg Brandon on to go on a blind date. “You’re not seriously here to drag Mr. Crawley off to a matchmaking session, are you?”

“What are you thinking?” Don tapped Kent’s head with the file in his hand, not too gently, “During work hours, we talk shop, of

course.”

Kent glanced at the file in his hand and caught a glimpse of the words “Zenithan-style resort.”

“What’s this?” he asked, reaching out for it, but Don slapped his hand away, “Resort architectural design plans, this is for Mr. Crawley and your chairman to review.”

After saying this, Don withdrew his hand from Kent’s shoulder.

“Alright, enough chit-chat, Mr. Crawley’s inside, right?”

“Yeah, but Mr. Crawley’s got a meeting.”

Kent didn’t finish his reminder when Don had already gone straight to knock on Brandon’s office door, and after a deep “Come in,” Don pushed the door open, catching sight of Brandon standing up with the files.

Don raised an eyebrow. “Heading out?”

“Meeting.” Brandon said, glancing at the file in his hand, “What’s up?”

“Yeah, right.” Don said, pulling out a copy of the documents and handing them over to Brandon, “The resort architectural design plans are out, brought them for you to take a look.”

Brandon looked at him. “What did Patricia and my dad say?”

“Haven’t shown them yet, just got the plans and came straight to you.”

“I’ll take a look later.” Brandon took the design plans Don handed over and placed them on the table, “Give them a copy too, they’re ultimately in charge of this project.”

“Was planning to.”

Brandon nodded, already moving to leave his chair.

“I’m off to the meeting, remember to close the door when you leave.”

“Got it.” Don yelled after his retreating figure, “Don’t forget to check out the design plans when you’re free, otherwise if your old man approves, I’m washing my hands of your opinion.”

Brandon didn’t turn back, just flashed an “OK” sign with his hand as he walked away.

Don shook his head at Brandon’s disappearing back and followed him out the door, heading to the chairman’s office.

Daniel was there, and so was Patricia.

Daniel was surprised to see him. “When did you get back? Didn’t even give us a heads-up.”

“Been back for some days, been running around like a headless chicken.” Don said with a smile as he approached, “Mr. Crawley, Mrs. Crawley, long time no see.”

He went up and gave them both a hearty hug.

Patricia, with her eagle eyes, spotted the architectural design plans in his hand and immediately smiled with arched eyebrows. “The plans are out that quick?”

“Exactly, didn’t want to keep you waiting, our designers pulled an all-nighter to get them done, and I’ve rushed them over for your review.” Don handed over a copy of the design plans to each of them, “Take a look first.”

Patricia and Daniel each took their copy.

Patricia’s face showed surprise as she flipped through it.

Don didn’t miss the flash of delight in Patricia’s eyes and couldn’t help but look towards Daniel.

While Patricia was expressive, Daniel was much more reserved, but the satisfaction was apparent from the upturned corners of his mouth and the sparkle in his eyes.

“How do you like it? Mr. Crawley, Mrs. Crawley?” Don asked with a smile..

Patricia was already beaming. “I like it, it’s exactly the style I wanted.”

Then she turned to Daniel. “Daniel, what do you think?”

Daniel nodded slightly. “It’s fine. But.”

He frowned and looked at Don. “I’m just worried about discrepancies between the actual construction and the design. The designer really needs to keep an eye on things. Don, what does your designer say? Will she supervise the work personally?”

“She’s abroad, might not make it back to oversee, but the on-site designers are from the same studio, they’ll ensure the work is up to snuff, so don’t worry about that.” Don reassured, “Plus, she’ll visit the site periodically to check on things, so there won’t be any issues.”

Daniel’s frown deepened. “I’d still prefer the designer to come personally. If she can’t come, this design plan…”

He was about to say it couldn’t be used, but Patricia cut him off.

“It’s fine if she can’t make it, the same studio’s designers are just as good, and she’ll visit the site periodically, right? That’s

enough.”

Patricia said, looking at Daniel. “Daniel, let’s settle on this one, I really like it.”

Daniel was still hesitant.

Don also feared Daniel would make a snap decision; if they settled now, he’d be hard-pressed to find an excuse later. The real decision-making power was in Brandon’s hands.

Without Brandon’s approval, Daniel and Patricia’s agreements would be moot, so Don smiled and said, “No rush to decide, think it over and decide after discussing it.”

Worried that dragging it out too long might affect the decision, he added, “Our designer happens to be in the country these days, so if there’s anything that needs changing, we can have a face-to-face chat.”
