Chapter Epilogue
Wade
18 months later.
I open the double doors seeing Marc sat at the desk within the circular room. “My King,” I state in respect before flopping down on one of the chairs pulling a stack of paperwork towards me. “Wade, shut up. Or I’ll start calling you Beta.” I chuckle to Marc. He hates it when I address him formally. He’s only been King 6 months and I already piss him off constantly. Much to my amusement. “Don’t you have your own office?” Oh he was particularly grumpy today.
“Thought you’d want to know a rogue’s just come on to the property.” I shrug as if it’s the least bit important news. He sat up straighter “One we know?”
“No, she claims to have run away from her pack.” It’s not something Marc needs to worry about, she’s being dealt with. “Take me to her.”
“Trey’s dealing with it, Marc.” He didn’t listen as he strode to his door. I roll my eyes but stand and lead Marc to the infirmary.
Before we get anywhere near he halts abruptly, “What’s... what’s that smell?” His nose inhaling deeply, head pushing upward to smell better. “Are you having a stroke?” I walk a few paces back to him, suddenly his face sets as he begins to stride towards the infirmary sniffing as he went. I follow chuckling to myself... I know that look.
We enter the brightly lit clinical room. Trey’s talking to someone in one of the beds, 2 guards stand at the end of the bed. They bow as Marc approaches. I look over to the speck of a girl who’s dwarfed in the bed. Her brown hair a mess on the pillow. She looked young... and suddenly I was worried about what Marc had smelt.
I take in her thin arms littered in fading bruises. She was also filthy, I could barely tell the colour of her skin. “My King,” her voice is much older than she looks as she bows her head and then extends her neck in submission. “I’m sorry I came onto your land... I didn’t know where to go,” her voice cracks slightly in fear.
“I’m listening,” Marc’s voice soft and calming. The girl looks around, her blue eyes full of terror, probably over the number of large burly men around her bed. “I... erm...” She looks to Trey who gives her an encouraging smile. He was definitely a firm calming influence in the castle. “My dad... I couldn’t take it anymore”
“Which pack are you from?” I ask, my shoulders taut.
“Silversmith,” she whispers, a small intake of breath went around. “Please don’t kill me,” she whimpers. I blink and Marc’s wrapped his arms around her ”MINE!” he declares loudly. Well, now we can’t touch her.
I make my way to our wing. Opening the gold gilded door and take in my familiar home. The stairs in the middle of the hall, the 3 doors coming off the hall, “Hello my Baby, hello my honey...” I sing into the house “Hello my ragtime man!” Adelaide sings back. I smile to myself going towards her voice. “You piss off my brother that much he sent you home?” I chuckle as I envelop her into my arms “Nah, but I think we have a Queen.” Adelaide pecks my lips before looking at me questioningly. “I think she’s going to need time, but he was about ready to mark her there and then.”
“Do you know who she is?”
“Alpha Silversmith’s daughter.”
“Why’s she here?”
“She ran away, seems like he abused her. She’s bruised, she scared. But I think she’s got fire.” Adelaide hums as she pushes her body into mine.
“Did you hear we’re going to have a Gamma pup?” she mutters into my chest
“Trey didn’t mention anything.” Sure it could be Jesse... but he hasn’t found his mate yet.
“Sophie came earlier... wait... I don’t think she’s told him yet.” I chuckle down to her
“Really? I know about Trey’s pup before he does?” I look down to her with a small amount of disbelief. Sure it’s mating season but still... Trey should know before me. “Girls talk.” She shrugs innocently.
She stands on tiptoes to nuzzle my neck. I can hear her sniffing, something she only does when she’s unsure how I’m going to react... Oh goddess what’s she going to ask. “Wade?” she says against my neck, her breath tickling me. “Yeah baby?” Fuck what does she want? What’s she done? Panic!
“I want a pup.” I stop, a warmth spreading through me, I look down to her to see if she’s serious. It wasn’t something we had really discussed, we’d been careful during the mating seasons mainly because I didn’t want to bring it up and scare her. Her golden eyes told me she was deadly serious. A smirk twitches on my lips and I lift her so her legs straddle my waist, my hands firmly on her arse.
“Let’s go make one then”.
