THE HYBRID WOLF

Chapter Chapter Twenty-two

**Five months later**

Leila.

Laying down on a branch of a tree, I enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature.

Whistling birds, water flowing from the stream not far away, the cool breeze. I sigh deeply because I miss Clayton so bad.

I learned that Clayton isn't just anybody but a multi-billionaire, which explained how luxurious his pack was.

He has multiple businesses both in the shifter and the human world. Unfortunately, it sometimes requires that he be gone but never for more than a day.

He left this morning and after dealing with the pack business, here I am. Away from everyone to recharge my batteries.

I have my eyes closed, enjoying the peace which is brought to a halt by some strange movements.

I feel Leone stir and I ready myself. Who or whatever it is, it doesn't belong to my pack. I don't recognize their scents.

Suddenly I find at least twenty werewolves in front of me and at the head of the mute, someone who has always given me the creep.

"Well, well look who we have here. Elder Robert, what a surprise, I wished I could say it's a pleasant one though. You just interrupted my relaxing session," I tell him yawning getting in a sitting position.

"Come with us Luna and we will do you no harm," he says in a commending tone. Interesting. Maybe I will have a good distraction, goddess knows how bored I was.

"Oh, really? And if I don't? What will you do?" I question smiling sweetly, my eyes twinkling with excitement.

"Then I will have no other choice but to take you by force," I see his men flexing their muscles when he says that, and I laugh. I laugh so hard that his face flushes red from anger.

"Before we proceed with this, I have a question for you... Are you the one behind the murder of Kayla, your late Luna?" I ask now seeing where this is going. I have always known that something was off with this man from our first encounter and I was right after all.

He looks away for a few seconds before looking back at me with determination.

"Yes. Yes, I was the one, so what?" He answers fearlessly.

"Why?" I ask, curiosity merring my face with my head tilting to the side to look at the old man more keenly. They don't know, but I'm brewing inside.

I start evaluating the strength of each of them to know the quantity of energy I'll need to deploy to slaughter them.

"He caused so much pain to mate," Leone growls angrily and I agree.

"You are going to know the same fate so, there is no need to lie to you... I wanted to destabilize Clayton enough to use my influence in the council to remove the alpha title from him," he says looking at me.

"And who would have been the next alpha? You?" I ask, pointing a finger in his direction laughing as if I had heard the funniest joke ever.

"Shut up little girl, and come with us now... Clayton survived the loss of his first mate, but he won't survive this time. I see how he is with you. He is even more in love with you than he was with Kayla," he says grinning and I just smile.

"OK, now. Let me give you a little piece of advice... RUN. Run and never look back, because if you do, all you'll see is me," I tell him all playfulness gone.

I am so angry that Leone has already joined me. My eyes are crimson red. He flinches at my drastic mood change and takes a step back, then remembers they 'outnumbered me' and stands his ground.

Ok, Leila time to exercise a little, I think stretching my hands up above my head. And to think that I was feeling bored.

I brace myself on the tree branch and before they can react I have knocked out five of the rogues who accompanied him. My movements are silent, fast, and lethal.

Now, I'm so disappointed. I thought they had some consistency, that they'd at least show some resistance but within ten minutes they were all dead. At least I will give them that, it is not easy to fight someone you don't hear coming when you're a creature who relies greatly on their senses, hearing being one of them. Someone at least ten times faster than you. My logic doesn't wash away my disappointment though. I had woken for nothing.

The old fool was so stunned that he forgot to run away. By the time I finished the last one of his 'soldiers,' he had gained some brain cells and turned to flee. Too late. Way too late...

I rapidly climbed the tree I was previously laying on and started jumping from tree to tree and landed right in front of him.

His scream is cut short when I extend my hand and grab him by his neck choking him. I don't want to kill him, he doesn't deserve such a rapid and painless death. I want to play with him. Yes.

I choke him cutting his air provision long enough for him to collapse. I mind-link Chase and Ruben to come and dispose of the dead bodies covering the floor of my beautiful forest.

When Chase and Ruben arrive, their eyes widen seeing all the bodies on the floor and Robert knocked out.

"Wha... What happened here, Luna?" Chase asks in a mixture of astonishment, fear, and curiosity.

"Oh, nothing much... This fool that calls himself an elder of the council just wanted to repeat with me what he did to your late Luna. He wanted to kill me," I say nonchalantly looking from Chase to Ruben who had their jaws dropped but soon came back to their senses shouting "What?" At the same time.

"Can you just help me with these bodies? They are dirtying the floor of my forest, but this big boy is for me to play with," I say pointing to Robert with a sinister grin.

"They are all death?" Chase asks me and I nod. He just shakes his head and laughs.

"You are something else altogether, Luna. You'll never cease to surprise me..." Chase started, but I cut him off... "Never let anyone guess your next move," I say winking their way.

"See you guys later..." I say, turning around and dragging Robert behind me like a log of wood, shaking my waist as I walk away accompanied by Chase's' and Ruben's laughter at my antiques.
